The Inverted Dragon’s Scale: Chapter Twelve

Chapter Twelve – Genius Idiot
CuiXiaoXing stood in front of the door, pondered briefly and was just about to raise her hand to knock, when the dorm door was coincidentally pulled opened by someone on the other side.
A beautiful maiden, who kept a neat and tidy set of bangs on her forehead, while keeping her head forward, saw that someone was at the exit with big eyes standing there. Her beautiful eyes stared back at her without blinking.
CuiXiaoXing was also evaluating LiShiNian. She knew that LiMuYang had a sister but she never thought that she would be this pretty.
“Are they really blood related?” Within CuiXiaoXing’s endless sea of thoughts emerged such a thought.
She then quickly dispelled that thought from her mind. LiMuYang was her savior, how could she shame him like so?
“CuiXiaoXing?” LiShiNian took the lead in breaking the silence between the two of them and asked.
“LiShiNian?” Without know why, when she heard LiShiNian call out her own name, CuiXiaoXing felt a sense of hidden glee within her heart. She felt that this was a sign of recognition, although in the past she had never really cared whether or not anyone had recognized her.
“It’s me.” LiShiNian nodded her head and said while grinning: “I knew it was you.”
“I’m here to visit LiMuYang.” CuiXiaoXing felt that LiShiNian’s expression in her eyes were a bit strange. However she had already played this situation over in her mind many times on her way over. She even thought originally that she would have had to deal with an even more complicated situation, such as dealing with LiMuYang’s father, mother or even some close relatives. She even expected them to use a judgmental or an appreciative expression while looking at her.
The fact that a beautiful maiden would visit a sick student alone would inherently cause some misunderstandings. Without a doubt, if news ever reached their classmates, gossip between the two of them might even be spread all over the whole of Renaissance High.
It was only LiShiNian herself in the sickroom. This evidently dispelled a lot of troubling matters for her.
“Oh, LiMuYang is my big bro.” LiShiNian smiled while saying. She affectionately pulled CuiXiaoXing’s hands and said: “Big sis XiaoXing, why don’t you come in?”
CuiXiaoXing was not used to such affection. She had also never linked hands with such affection with any other girls.
However, LiShiNian was indeed a cute girl. She smiled with such genuine affection and her feelings were warm and pure, as if rejecting her would be a form of blasphemy.
CuiXiaoXing hesitated slightly, but in the end was still pulled over by LiShiNian over to the side of LiMuYang’s bed.
“Big bro, big sis XiaoXing whom you’ve always been obsessively complaining about is here.” LiShiNian called out and winked at LiMuYang. She then said with a expression of being wronged: You asked about big sis XiaoXing as soon as you opened your eyes and even forced me to immediately go to school to see if she was there. Look here,. look, is big sis XiaoXing not well? Is she hurting anywhere? Is she missing even a strand of hair or a piece of flesh?”
“I only wanted to…”
“Its fine, you don’t have to explain. Explaining is equivalent to covering up.” LiShiNian never gave LiMuYang the opportunity to speak and said: “Why don’t you two talk? I will go out to grab something to eat. I’m starving.”
LiShiNian tightened her grip on CuiXiaoXing’s hand and said with a smile: “Big sis XiaoXing, can I leave my brother over to you?”
CuiXiaoXing’s expression condensed and said while nodding: “alright.”
She could make out the ambiguity within LiShiNian’s words. However if she didn’t reply wouldn’t others view her as someone who likes to think too much?
LiShiNian quietly gave her brother a thumbs up and then told CuiXiaoXing that she would be heading off.
LiMuYang said while embarrassed to CuiXiaoXing: “She has always been like that, don’t mind her.”
“Shes really cute.” CuiXiaoXing said with a serious expression.
LiMuYang nodded and looked at CuiXiaoXing’s eyes while asking: “are you alright?”
CuiXiaoXing’s skin were pale and delicate, her features were refined and contained no flaws. She wore a purple hibiscus painted long dress, combined with a lapel waist. She didn’t wear a belt but her waist still looked slim and soft, like a weak willow tree being brushed against by wind. She gave off a simplistic feeling of purity.
In LiMuYang’s memories, during the surprise attack in Beast Aspect Pavilion’s, CuiXiaoXing seemed to have suffered injuries; however there were no signs of scars, as if what happened on that day was just a vivid but painful dream.
“I’m sorry.” CuiXiaoXing lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes wilted down, just like an attractive fan. “You risked your life to save me, but I ran away from the forefront.”
“You were saved by someone and taken away, weren’t you?” LiMuYang smiled as he said. “The person who shouted ‘evil pest’ was someone related to you. The bright red ball that was displayed, which incinerated the murder of crows, was also due to him, wasn’t it?” You only left after confirming the assassin had fled the scene, am I right?”
CuiXiaoXing blinked her eyes and asked: “how do you know all this?”
“I felt…” LiMuYang smiled slightly and revealed a set of teeth that was white to the point of dazzling the eye. “It was something that you would have done.”
“Thank you.” CuiXiaoXing was deeply touched as she said: “thank you for trusting me.”
“We are friends, aren’t we?” LiMuYang smiled as he said: “Just like how you believed that my studies can still be saved, I also believed in your character, believed that you were not someone who would abandon me in a dangerous situation.”
“People from my family saved and took me away.” CuiXiaoXing explained. She felt like she owed LiMuYang an explanation, that was also one of the reasons why she was so adamant in visiting LiMuYang. “When I left I was already unconscious and had no room to resist.”
“I understand.” LiMuYang casually waved his hand and said: “I can imagine what went on in that kind of situation.”

“Then…” CuiXiaoXing thought about it and felt like it was time to say goodbye.
It didn’t matter how heroic or valiant LiMuYang was on that day in Beast Aspect Pavilion, he is only a commoner after all.
If that person had already discovered her trace but failed to snipe her, perhaps he will reveal even more methods. She might have to face even more hostile and dangerous situations in the future.
She did not want to involve LiMuYang again, because no one can promise that LiMuYang would have such good luck once more.
“Our promise, is it still valid?” LiMuYang asked suddenly.
“What?”
“You’ve said, from today on wards, you will begin to teach me. That was what you said at Beast Aspect Pavilion during that time.” LiMuYang looked attentively at CuiXiaoXing’s eyes and said while smiling.
“Oh.” CuiXiaoXing brushed the beautiful hair on her forehead slightly and said: “That is indeed what I have said, if you are still willing.”
“Of course.” LiMuYang said while smiling: “I also want to be admitted into Westerly Winds College. I’ve heard that there is a famous lake in Westerly Winds College that shows the world’s most beautiful sunset.”
“Then lets work hard together.” CuiXiaoXing pursed her thin lips and smiled.
———-
From that day on wards CuiXiaoXing would visit LiMuYang every day, accompany LiMuYang and tutor him for four hours.
She was the school’s famous studying tyrant, no subject was difficult enough to make her falter.
She would explain the coursework one by one and then allow LiMuYang to have a look at answers in the books. If there were anything LiMuYang did not understand then she would use a method that was easy to explain and narrate it to LiMuYang. She would only stop when LiMuYang completely understood the material within the question.
It was unknown whether it was due to a pair of male and female working together or due to a beauty bringing a refreshing feeling, but CuiXiaoXing and LiMuYang were never burnt out. LiMuYang cut down on his sleep in the past couple of days and his reactions were getting quicker and quicker. A lot of times, when he encountered a hard to solve problem, CuiXiaoXing only had to explain it once in order for him to understand thoroughly.
CuiXiaoXing was shocked. She wanted to find a few difficult to grasp problems and specially test him, but found out that LiMuYang was still able to quickly answer. There were times that he had solved problems in a way that was not taught by her.
This caused CuiXiaoXing to be suspicious. The LiMuYang in the past had never listened in class. This was also the reason why his test results where always at the bottom or even zero in some cases.
However, the questions that she had only explained once, how did he manage to find other solutions to the same problem?
Is he learning by inferring from other solutions?
Could it be… He’s actually a hidden genius?
CuiXiaoXing stared at LiMuYang’s black face and discovered that the more she looked, the more she felt pleased. Although LiMuYang’s skin was pitch-black, but he still had a deep contours and handsome features. Especially his pair of eyes. His pair of eyes was extremely spirited, as if just by looking, it could swallow your soul.
“LiMuYang.” CuiXiaoXing called out.
“What?” LiMuYang lifted his head up and looked.
“Did you really not know anything before?”
“That should’ve been the case.”LiMuYang nodded as he answered. “However I’m not sure why but recently there has been some strange things occurring in my head, as if I have experienced everything already in the past. It’s the same for these problems. It’s obvious that it’s your first time explaining but somehow I can still manage to fine better ways of solving these problems.
CuiXiaoXing’s eyes widened as she said while looking at LiMuYang: “Did you just say that you can find better ways of solving every single one of these problems?”
“Yeap.” LiMuYang nodded, scratched the back of his head, and said in embarrassment: “there’s some that I can only find one solution to. For others they are only pseudo-methods. This is because as you continue on with your explanation, there are completely errors or contrasting answers that I’ve realized. These are all deep traps in academic studies, it is very easy to waste a lot of time in this aspect.”
CuiXiaoXing did not believe him and immediately pulled out a question from <<Nine Chapter Arithmetic>>, pushed the scroll in front of LiMuYang and said: “Explain this question. Use methods that only you know of.”
LiMuYang nodded and began to solve the problems on his desk.
After five minutes, LiMuYang was still busy.
After ten minutes, LiMuYang was still solving.
Half an hour went past, one hour went past…
In the middle of solving, LiMuYang changed his pen and asked for his twelfth piece of writing paper.
After one more hour, he passed on the tens of writing paper over to CuiXiaoXing and said in embarrassment: “This is all I know…”
CuiXiaoXing quickly accepted the writing paper. The longer she read the more her expression started to congeal. In the end she closed the writing paper and looked up at LiMuYang, saying: “You’ve used eleven methods to solve?”
“Yes.” LiMuYang nodded. “I actually have one more. But that method I only know the beginning stages of and I am still a little stuck on the later stages of projection. I am unable to completely express the String Theory within.
“But…” CuiXiaoXing bit on her lips, looked at LiMuYang with a complicated expression and said with great difficulty: “I only know two methods to solve this problem.”
“…….”
