Chapter 26: Extorting a Confession — Forget about today's fragrant pan-fried sablefish.

The doctor probably had an august disposition and normally wouldn't get angry easily. Anyone, however, would be forced to want to kneel down to him the split second his his face darkened.

Ye Zhen Zhen felt this exact feeling right now. Ji Zhe Yan merely looked at her, and she immediately felt the air inside seem to become heavier, pressing down and softening her knees somewhat.

"Doc—doctor Ji, let's eat first…" Ye Zhen Zhen clumsily changed topics. Ji Zhe Yan pursed his lips, pulled out a chair at the dining table, and sat down. "If you don't explain clearly, then forget about today's fragrant pan-fried sablefish."

Ye Zhen Zhen: "…"

He actually held the food hostage to threaten her—truly too despicable.

Ye Zhen Zhen mumbled for quite a while before finally confessing everything under Dr. Ji's penetrating gaze. "Last night, I was assaulted. It was all my fault. I shouldn't have run into a small alley to buy milk tea." Ye Zhen Zhen fearlessly placed all the blame on her own shoulders.

Ji Zhe Yan's complexion, however, just became even more unsightly.

"Someone assaulted you?!" He rose from his chair and pulled Ye Zhen Zhen to him to carefully examine her. "Are there any injuries?"

"No." Ye Zhen Zhen firmly shook her head. "I used my pepper spray canister on him, causing him to run away. The police are already investigating, so you don't need to worry."

Ji Zhe Yan once again examined the marks on her neck, confirming that there weren't any major problems. Only then did he twist an eyebrow as he looked at her. "Did someone assault you after I left? Why didn't you tell me yesterday?"

"Oh, I felt it was just a small matter…"

"Small matter? Then what would you call a big matter?" Ji Zhe Yan's tone held a trace of anger. "Forget about today's fragrant pan-fried sablefish."

Ye Zhen Zhen: "…"

This was precisely a big matter.

Originally, she wanted to argue with Dr. Ji about how food was the God of the people, but when she saw his tightly pursed lips, she inexplicably strayed.

"Sorry." Ye Zhen Zhen's voice was miniscule, her lowered head making her look like a primary school student who erred extremely.

Ji Zhe Yan's lips twitched, and he released an inaudible sigh. "It should be me who apologizes. If I waited until your chauffeur came before leaving, this also wouldn't…"

He trailed off. He obviously knew her situation was dangerous, yet he still left her alone. If something actually had occurred, he would regret it for a lifetime.

Ye Zhen Zhen was a bit worried. Dr. Ji really had begun blaming himself. Just as she was about to justify her stance, she heard Ji Zhe Yan say, "In the future, you cannot roam the streets at night. You must return home before dusk."

Don't be like this! The outcome Ye Zhen Zhen worried the most about happened. If she must return home before dusk, how could she eat dinner, take walks, and watch movies with Dr. Ji?!

"That person definitely knows I alerted the police already and won't be able to face into the wind to commit a crime!"1 Ye Zhen Zhen was truly anxious. If she couldn't see Dr. Ji, then her life would lose its sole joy as well!

"The police won't be able to protect you all day. If he wants to, he can always find an opportunity." Ji Zhe Yan, however, remained firm. This type of event happening once was more than enough. If it happened a second time, he wouldn't want to pin his hopes that her luck would be this good again.

"But…"

"No buts," Ji Zhe Yan swiftly interrupted her. "The criminal made a mistake once. In the future, he will only be more prepared." He didn't want to face any risks.

Ye Zhen Zhen bit her lip and miserably looked at him, trying to arouse a trace of sympathy in his heart. Ji Zhe Yan pursed his lips and straightforwardly turned around to enter the kitchen.

Ye Zhen Zhen: "…"

So to say, doctors and bankers all had hearts of stone.

She sat by herself at the dining table, gloomily waiting for the food. When she compared her school schedule and Dr. Ji's working hours, the number of times she could meet with Dr. Ji was cut in half now.

She simply felt heartbroken.

Ji Zhe Yan carried over and arranged the dishes on the table. He glanced at the dazed Ye Zhen Zhen. "Eat."

"Oh." Ye Zhen Zhen picked up her chopsticks. After seeing the table full of dishes, a bit of spirit finally returned to her eyes. Fragrant pan-fried red snapper, fish ball soup, okra fermented fish paste—everything smelled, looked, and tasted great!

Only…why was it all fish?

"Because eating fish heals the brain."

Ye Zhen Zhen: "…"

She had fully realized what position that 33 points examination paper had established in Dr. Ji's mind.

After eating, Ye Zhen Zhen, in order to leave a better impression, energetically undertook the duty of washing the dishes. Ji Zhe Yan glanced at the bruises around her neck and rejected her with a cold face. Ye Zhen Zhen's zeal received a critical hit, and she went to curl up on the sofa in the living room.

While she was still repenting and redressing her wrongs, Ji Zhe Yan finished washing all the dinery. His voice was neither light nor heavy when he saw her fallen figure on the sofa. "Take off your jacket."

Ye Zhen Zhen was completely shocked. Dr. Ji, he…how come he suddenly awakened?!

She removed her bolero jacket posthaste and winked at him. Ji Zhe Yan awkwardly shifted his gaze, the points of his ears slightly red—because after Ye Zhen Zhen shed her jacket, he discovered she was only wearing a strappy dress that made people let their imaginations roam.

"I'll rub some medicine on you." Ji Zhe Yan sat down beside Ye Zhen Zhen, intentionally keeping her out of sight. Ye Zhen Zhen realized he held a small medicine bottle in his hand, containing some liquid that she had no clue about.  It was just that…wasn't it said that everyone's body was simply flesh and bones to a doctor? Even if the patient was of the opposite sex, the doctor should still be very calm.

She blinked rapidly and scooted closer to Ji Zhe Yan. "Thank you, Dr. Ji."

Ji Zhe Yan: "…"

He suddenly felt that the decision to rub medicine on her was not so good.

The medicinal liquid had a faintly pungent smell. Ye Zhen Zhen took a light sniff and sent a serious look at Ji Zhe Yan. "Do I need to pull down my shoulder straps? It's inconvenient to apply the medicine this way."

Ji Zhe Yan froze and then said, "No need."

The medicinal liquid smeared onto her skin was a bit cold. Ye Zhen Zhen subconsciously shirked back, causing Ji Zhe Yan to pause once again.

Her skin was very tender, as soft and smooth as a freshly peeled egg. Because of the medicine, her skin gradually turned pink, provoking tender affection like an apple.

"Dr. Ji, what's wrong?"

"…Nothing." He applied a few more strokes of medicine onto Ye Zhen Zhen's neck with lightning speed, kneading it into her skin skillfully, before he twisted the medicine bottle shut and got up to leave.

Ye Zhen Zhen sorrowfully sighed. Even if she gave liberty to Dr. Ji, Dr. Ji unexpectedly was still unwilling to take it.

Really was distressing.

She looked at the nearly-dried medicine on her shoulder and then put back on her bolero jacket. After she suffered through extra English lessons, Ye Zhen Zhen amazedly discovered that Dr. Ji was fluent in English even though she didn't understand a single word he said.

It was at this moment she profoundly sensed the gap between her and Dr. Ji—the IQ gap. Previously at the hospital, the nurse had said Dr. Ji was a genius. It seemed that this was not exaggerated.

"You couldn't understand even a little bit?" Ji Zhe Yan looked at Ye Zhen Zhen's befuddled face and finally paused.

Ye Zhen Zhen rallied her fighting spirit and earnestly thought it through before saying, "I understood and."

Ji Zhe Yan: "…"

He previously worked on patients with memory problems as well. Although they were amnesiac, some basic knowledge still remained. It was the first time he had seen memory loss to Ye Zhen Zhen's extent though.

"Then I'll say it again." Ji Zhe Yan slowly spoke this time, adjusting his lesson plans based on her reactions during his explanations. In order for her to pass an exam, he would need to teach her many test-taking techniques. Ye Zhen Zhen still learned a lot—at least, she had a higher accuracy in guessing the answer than from recognizing it was right.

At five o'clock, Dr. Ji punctually ended the lessons. Ye Zhen Zhen originally wanted to hang around and eat dinner, but Dr. Ji did not back down at all and made her return home. Ye Zhen Zhen drooped her head and softly whispered, "Home is not safe either."

Ji Zhe Yan froze.

Ye Zhen Zhen was pushed down the stairs at home. Not to mention the murderer sneaking into the Ye Mansion again, someone at the Ye Mansion was equally suspicious.

He hesitated for a moment, not in a hurry to send Ye Zhen Zhen off like before. Ye Zhen Zhen ate the leftover fish balls from lunch until nothing was left, perfectly content.

Dawdling until seven o'clock, Ji Zhe Yan finally sent her home with her chauffeur and turned around to go back inside.

On Tuesday, Ye Zhen Zhen once again went to Dr. Zhang's place for therapy as scheduled. Although she wouldn't be hypnotized every time, the fees weren't cheap even if it wasn't the complete treatment—despite chatting nonsensically with Dr. Zhang, she would be charged based on the standard charges.

Ye Zhen Zhen inwardly felt indignant, feeling that Dr. Zhang was a swindling psychiatrist. If it were not for seeing Dr. Ji, she wouldn't want to come again to send him money.

"Dr. Zhang, I have already come here for a month of treatment, but my condition hasn't improved at all. I have reason to call your expertise into question." Ye Zhen Zhen leaned into the sofa, her large dark eyes staring unblinkingly at the impeccably attired Dr. Zhang.

Dr. Zhang did not care in the slightest about her doubt; he even flashed to her what he considered to be a charming smile. "Miss Ye, very many things are imperceptible influences."

What do you mean?" Ye Zhen Zhen frowned. "Do you mean the treatment period isn't long enough?" Yes, he naturally wanted the sessions to continue; she alone could support him for the rest of his life.

"Don't look at me with as though I'm just a pretty boy. Believe me, a pretty boy's service is nowhere near my considerations."

Ye Zhen Zhen: "…"

As a highly educated intellectual, how can you be so vulgar?

"Innate." Dr. Zhang's voice floated into her ear as light as a feather. Ye Zhen Zhen looked like she was put under a spell, her eyes slowly sliding close.

It was still that approaching black primal chaos; it was just that this time her vision was becoming clearer faster than before. The crescent light source now floated into her field of view. Ye Zhen Zhen hazily saw a man lift her up the stairs.

The back of the man's head faced her. It seemed he was looking backwards. Ye Zhen Zhen strove to open her eyes, but in the end, she sensed a headache rush forth like the tides. The trip didn't seem to be over, but the man stopped. Bzzt—bzzt—He said something, but Ye Zhen Zhen couldn't hear even a single word clearly.

She saw the man turn his head back, his face shadowy and indistinct. She seemed to be placed onto the floor, and the man stretched out his hand. Anxiety arose within Ye Zhen Zhen; she wished she could jump up and bite him. Perhaps because of this agitation, she felt that all the blood was rushing to her head, unexpectedly making her vision brighten slightly.

Her shoulders were pushed against, and she was suddenly sitting on the sofa.

"What did you see?" Dr. Zhang sat across from her, composedly staring at her. She wiped away the cold sweat on her forehead, her lips pale.

She saw that man's face—her uncle's face.
