Chapter 31: Cute Fool — Let's go, Gou Dan'er.

Ji Zhe Yan brought Ye Zhen Zhen to the Chinese restaurant they ate at last time and bought a bowl of for her. "Have some soup; be careful, it's hot."

"Thank you, Dr. Ji." Ye Zhen Zhen cupped the bowl of soup in front of her and pursed her lips to sip it slowly. Ji Zhe Yan set down his soup spoon and began to place more food in her bowl. When Ye Zhen Zhen was two-thirds of the way through her soup, a small mountain of food had already begun forming in her bowl, the tip peeking out over the rim.

Ye Zhen Zhen suddenly wanted to cry again.

"What's wrong? Do you not like eating this dish?" Ji Zhe Yan somewhat anxiously asked upon seeing her lower her head, her chopsticks motionless.

Ye Zhen Zhen's tears began falling onto the table. Pa—ta— Sobbing and sniffling, she said, "Dr. Ji, on this earth, only you are still this good to me…"

Ji Zhe Yan frowned and moved to sit beside her. "Why are you crying again?" He wiped her tears away and began stroking her head. "Be obedient; don't cry. Eat first, okay?"

Ye Zhen Zhen raised her head to look at the man in front of her, her eyes red from crying. "Dr. Ji, I, I don't have money. I cannot, cannot claim you fish pond style."1

Ji Zhe Yan: "…"

This was what this little girl's mind focused on all day?

He scooped up a spoonful of food and brought it up to Ye Zhen Zhen's mouth. "You'll have some in the future; now, be obedient and eat first."

Ye Zhen Zhen breathed in through her nose and obediently silenced her whimpers to eat the spoonful of food. Ji Zhe Yan patted her head, showing her praise.

A little nurse waiting by the doorway for take-out nearly bit her tongue! D-d-doctor Ji was unexpectedly feeding someone! Moreover, he was smiling so tenderly!

She ran frantically out of the restaurant, as if she was escaping severe floods and fierce beasts.

When Ji Zhe Yan saw Ye Zhen Zhen had finally stopped crying, he returned to his own seat and began eating. Ye Zhen Zhen, who had walked the entire morning and had been crying for such a long time, was truly hungry; soon, the bottom of the bowl of food appeared. Yet very conscientiously, she filled another bowl full of food for herself

Ji Zhe Yan glanced at her and reminded, "Don't eat your food so quickly; it's easy to get indigestion that way."

"Oh." Mouth full, Ye Zhen Zhen hummed muffledly in agreement and began eating more slowly.

Two bowls of food later, Ye Zhen Zhen had eaten her fill at last. When she saw Dr. Ji also set down his chopsticks, Ye Zhen Zhen subconsciously reached for her purse to pay the bill, only for her hand to freeze midway. She suddenly realized that her life had already changed shape in a single shake; she was a penniless good-for-nothing now.

She somewhat awkwardly sat there, the tips of her ears quietly turning red.

Ji Zhe Yan's lips curled slightly, chuckling, as he flagged down a waiter for the bill. The waiter, appropriately dressed in the restaurant's uniform, accepted the hundred yuan bill Ji Zhe Yan gave him and turned around to leave. Ji Zhe Yan observed Ye Zhen Zhen sitting across from him and inquired, "What do you plan to do later?"

He had heard Ye Zhen Zhen explain everything about what happened in the police station that morning, but he also did not anticipate such unexpected events to pass in this way.

Hearing this familiar question, Ye Zhen Zhen's heart wanted to shed tears once more. "Officer Zuo will not allow me to leave A City."

If she returned to D City, she might have been able to find a clue, but by staying in A City, she had no one to rely on. She truly did not know where she should go.

Ji Zhe Yan pursed his lips and said, "You can live at my place."

An explosion blasted through Ye Zhen Zhen's mind. Dr. Ji, was this…an invitation to live together with her?!

A slight smile subconsciously tugged at Ji Zhe Yan's lips. "Although my house is not as big as the Ye Family's mansion, it has more than enough space for two people to live there."

Ye Zhen Zhen stifled her wildly jumping heart and tried to make herself look as calm as possible. "But, but I have no money for rent." Not to mention rent, the question was how would she get three meals a day.

Now that she was not Ye Zhen Zhen, she also did not need to go to class. She no longer needed to take English exams; in fact, this was excellent.

Sensing her mood, Ji Zhe Yan promptly diverted the conversation. "Do you need to pack up anything? I have nothing to do this afternoon. I can drive you back to Ye Mansion."

Ye Zhen Zhen very quickly skimmed through the offered document. The agreement was more or less what Ye Kang Ping had described, especially the matter where she would be given 1.5 million yuan as her portion. Nonetheless, what she wanted to know was her name.

Ji Zhe Yan had been standing beside her the entire time and had also skimmed over the document rapidly. When he saw the name, Li Gou Dan, he couldn't help but chuckle.

Thus, we can only wait for you to regain your memory to properly understand this."

Ye Zhen Zhen pursed her lips. She did not want to swindle the Ye Family, so this lightened her heart a bit. She stood there with a blank stare for a while until she heard Ji Zhe Yan speak from right beside her. "Thank you, Officer Zuo. If there is nothing else, we'll take our leave." He turned his head to look at Ye Zhen Zhen. "Let's go, Gou Dan'er."

Ye Zhen Zhen: "…"

This…thing definitely was not Dr. Ji! The Dr. Ji that she knew could never be such a cute fool!

Ji Zhe Yan's nickname, Gou Dan'er, was heard throughout the police station, drawing muffled laughs. This case had nearly stumped them. To be able to now ridicule the person involved in this case, who had raised the difficulty of the investigation, truly improved their mood greatly.

Ye Gou Dan'er silently left the police station behind Ji Zhe Yan. Ji Zhe Yan glanced at her sour face and chuckled, saying, "What's up? Do you not like your own chosen name?"

Inside the garden, Wang Er Gou was pruning the flowers and plants. Ye Zhen Zhen rushed into the mansion with lightning speed, before he discovered her.

When she entered the drawing room, she looked around very cautiously, similar to how she entered the Ye Mansion for the first time that day.

Housekeeper Zhou was not present, so Ye Zhen Zhen released a soft sigh of relief. She scampered up to the second floor and returned Ye Zhen Zhen's phone as well as a variety of documents from her bag. She then took off the hair ornament she was wearing, followed by Qin Kong's engagement ring, and locked them up in a drawer. She thought for a moment. Apart from the clothes she was wearing, there was nothing else she possessed that belonged to Ye Zhen Zhen.

If she took off her clothes, however, she would have nothing to wear… She would just borrow these clothes then.

She looked around the room. There truly was nothing else she could take away. Finally, she withdrew the designs Zhou Wen had given her from the drawer, with the intention of taking them.

Just as she turned around, she saw that housekeeper Zhou was standing behind her, causing her to jump and nearly shriek.

"Miss," housekeeper Zhou courteously greeted. Ye Zhen Zhen stood there in slight embarrassment, not knowing what she should say.

She felt like a thief.

Housekeeper Zhou's gaze swept through the room, revelation dawning on her. "Miss, you can continue living here." She had already heard of the matter regarding Ye Kang Ping and his wife and thus knew that this Ye Zhen Zhen doppelgänger before her eyes was not the real Ye Zhen Zhen. Two people did not look so alike for absolutely no reason. This person was surely related to the Ye Family.

Ye Zhen Zhen, however, could not continue living here. "Thank you for your kindness. I am very grateful for the care you have shown me during this time. I have returned all of the Ye Family's belongings and have not taken any; you can check. Oh, that's right. These clothes…after I buy new clothes, I will find an opportunity to return them."

She bowed to housekeeper Zhou and then dashed out with the designs in hand. Sitting in the car, Ji Zhe Yan saw Ye Zhen Zhen running over in the distance and opened the car door. When he saw her carry in several artworks, Ji Zhe Yan muffled a laugh. "These are all your things?"

"Oh…" Ye Zhen Zhen climbed into the car and said somewhat perplexedly, "Dr. Ji, these clothes are also Ye Zhen Zhen's. Furthermore, they're apparently…worth more than a hundred thousand yuan."

Ji Zhe Yan stroked her head and started the car. "We'll go window-shop first then."
