Assassin Pride Volume 11 Prologue
HOME ROOM EARLIER

(Unedited)

I can’t go back or the likes right now ──

Because undoubtedly, what awaits me is the never seen before 《Marvelous》!

While telling herself that, Mule La Moore had barricaded herself inside that strange library for three days. The bookshelves were one black color. On the other hand, the floor was parted geometrical with pure white marble. The ceiling was so high it was invisible…….. The room’s surface was wide and there were numerous amounts of books.

The most strange thing was that, here and there on the bookshelves, the strict notes were put on.

『Do not touch』──

The books in this library were not to be read.

As if backing it, there was only one reading desk at the center of the floor, contrast with its wideness. Having taken position on it, Mule was nibbling at the chocolate and gulped down the tea in the lukewarm flask.

The carried in food and water would be soon used up. Anymore than this, it would be unsafe stay here any longer. If she couldn’t achieve her 《Objective》by today…….No way around it, she might have to resign and returned to St. D’Autriche girl institute where her close friends (Salacha) were waiting.

──However, it seemed that worried was gone.

Click! On the bookshelf dominated by silent, a congeniality timbre resounded.

Mule’s pupil glittered blazingly, she licked her own pink lips.

「As expected of me……!」

On the reading desk there was a big trunk.

Its weight was a hardship for the girl’s slender arm to carry it over there by herself.

If speaking about why it was that heavy, it was because the trunk had complicated mechanism equipped. The secret basket (Trick or Treat), to put it short, it couldn’t be opened by original method, if it wasn’t handled with a fixed process, the inside couldn’t be seen, it was that much of a troublesome box.

After twisting the handle many times, she slid the corner of the outer plate and turned the dial that appeared with correct number of times……..She had to continue it without any error. An overwhelming amount of trial attempts was needed. Even with the La Moore house related brains, three days were wasted.

The mouth of that tough box finally played the sound of opening.

Clink, together with that response, the lid became light.

The trunk which was unyielding even being hit by a claymore slowly split to the left and right.

The air confined inside like an aura of mystery of somewhere blew out──

「This is……!」

Without realizing it, her cheeks were flushing, Mule picked the inside of the box.

The thing that solemnly appeared was one book.

It was one size smaller than the trunk, even so it was pretty big for a book. It was greatly used. On the cover there were unreadable letters written. Was it a title?

These string of letters were unreadable, but why it felt nostalgic…….

Mule put the trunk to the floor, she once again placed the spoil of war on the table.

She opened the cover without hesitation.

Then she was confused.

「This is a book……??」

The exterior was definitely a book. However the practical contents ………..looked like a board game. In short, it was throwing the necessary dice and moving the pieces, while moving along the square trying to aim for the goal, a standard game.

When she opened the cover and spread the book left and right, one side was old fashioned board game design. And the other side, many lines of blurred sentences were written.

On the corner there was small case, inside of it there were two common dices.

However, there was no piece.

「We can’t play like this though」

To get this flawed toy, she had face great danger right? She dejectedly leaned her body and glared at the letter written on the lid.

It was Flandre’s national language.

「……『One dedicates《Once Upon A Time》. Then the miracle will go to the victor』」

It was written from the very front. Mule satisfyingly raised her upper half body.

「In other words──」

As if to let herself alone hear it.

「『Try to clear it』. You won’t get the treasure so easily, huh」

She shrugged. She rolled the two dices on her palm, then threw them.

“Rolling”, they briskly bounced.

「Bring it on」

The number came out was──six and six, that was《twelve》!

Isn’t this a good sign! Since there was no piece it couldn’t be helped, Mule used her own finger to move on the mass. Two, four, six…….and twelve mass!

The mass was only meaninglessly painted with cream color. The producer must have lost interest in the midst of making it, right?

For that, the binding was solid, and there was the impression this was often played from the worn out mass. Even music could be heard. This was a clever production……….music?

Mule’s spine became chilled.

「Where is it from……?」

With a curiosity of fear, Mule leaned her ear to the book.

It was not just her imagination.

There were masses on the board game. On the destination of the mass there was goal. On the landing goal, there was an unclear whether it was malachite or onyx big gemstone embedded, from its depths, light was released, and on the surface a short sentence floated up──

The girl didn’t notice.

† † †

Naturally.

The scream echoing across the library loudly, there was none to notice.

Not right now──…………
