The white fog gradually dissipated and Gu Mengmeng stretched out before standing up. She noticed that the Beast Deity and Elvis were both looking at her with peculiar expressions. She thought about it before realizing what they were so grim about.
“So many years have already passed since my sad childhood. I am doing well now and am very happy. My days are so fulfilling that I don’t have the time to worry about the grudges held in my previous life.” Gu Mengmeng walked into Elvis’ arms and hugged him. She smiled. “As Elvis said, if all the pain and suffering I endured were a necessity for me to meet him and Lea, then it was all worth it. I am willing to endure even more if need be.”
Elvis hugged Gu Mengmeng tightly and kissed her temple. He was unable to speak.
His heart ached too badly. So badly that it was impossible to feel any further pain.
Elvis had a slew of comforting words but they all ended up being lodged in his throat. He couldn’t even string together a coherent sentence.
The Beast Deity World sighed. “No matter. It’s best that you forget. He didn’t treasure his precious daughter but I do. He preferred sons over daughters so I sent you to a world which favors females over males. All the suffering you endured because of him, I will compensate you ten times over.”
Gu Mengmeng smiled sweetly. “That’s why it is already enough for me to have you as my father.”
The Beast Deity nodded. Nevertheless, pain still flashed in his eyes.
“Then apart from asking about Wabei’s matter, what other questions do you have?” The Beast Deity looked like he wished to drown his daughter’s past sorrows with love and affection. It was like he would agree to anything Gu Mengmeng asked for now.
Gu Mengmeng smiled. She felt as if she would be letting down her father’s kind intentions if she didn’t ask for something major now.
But she gave up that notion after thinking about it. Her father might be the Beast Deity but there still seemed to be some upper management level above him. She was a considerate daughter and didn’t want to put her father in a tight spot.
Hence, she pondered for a moment before asking, “I am heading over to the Motou mountains during the drought season. Do you have any advice?”
The Beast Deity mulled over this before looking at Elvis and then at Gu Mengmeng. “I feel that Gregory is pretty decent. Will you really not reconsider accepting him? It’s always beneficial to have someone in the family who can fly. With his current powers, I estimate that he should be able to immediately reach the upper range of the fourth-level after becoming your partner. Then with just a bit more effort, he should be able to attain the fifth-level soon after. By that time, you can give him Cole’s Soul of the Forest, and then give the Soul of Spirit of the Rocky Cliffs to that little fox of yours. Your family will have four Beast Kings and can form an invincible team that can dominate the skies, sea and land. There will be nothing the four of you can’t do.”
Gu Mengmeng held her forehead. “Daddy, I have no intention of unifying the Beast World.”
“Tsk, you should have more ambition.” The Beast Deity pinched Gu Mengmeng’s nose. “Even if you don’t want to unify the Beast World, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to soar through the skies for fun? Gregory is also quite handsome—he should more than fulfill your standards of beauty.”
Gu Mengmeng glanced at Elvis, whose face looked increasingly grave. She signaled the Beast Deity desperately with her eyes. “Daddy, why are you making things difficult for your daughter.”
The Beast Deity rubbed his fingers as he continued nonchalantly. “It is a great taboo in the Beast World to prohibit the acceptance of new partners. You have pampered them too much—aren’t you worried that the males of other families might learn from your example? If every male behaved like them, using their own powers to stop their females accepting new partners—with the current ratio of females to males in the Beast World… ha, you don’t need to unify this world anymore. I predict the Beast World would very quickly self-destruct.”
