“Are you really going to raise Miranda’s child?” After returning back to the cave, Gregory asked her with hesitation.
Gu Mengmeng lowered her head and answered, “I need the Key of the Beast King if I want to open the doors of time and space. Using another person’s child….was better than using mine.”
Gu Mengmeng admitted that she was selfish.
She wanted to open the doors of time and space and kill Cole at the same time so that she could completely eliminate all hidden threats to Chixuan’s life.
Using another person’s child in exchange for her own was very despicable, very brazen and very inhumane.
But, as long as she could protect her own child, let alone going to hell after she died, she would not even blink her eyes if they forced her to dip herself in scalding oil alive.
The greatness of motherly love was built on the fact that it was sufficiently selfish.
Actually, Gu Mengmeng could had hidden her own motive and claim that it was for Miranda’s sake in a respectable and dignified way because Cole would not have any reason to pester her anymore since the child was not by her side. Gu Mengmeng could had also claim in a benevolent way that she could not bear for the child to be so easily abandoned by Miranda so she wanted to raise the child by her side.
But Gu Mengmeng did not, perhaps, this was her last pride left. She was despicable and she admitted to it. After doing something that deserved to be vomited on, it’s ideal if one did not appear being put on a spot and attempt to round things off. Nobody in this world would put themselves in your position and consider your gains and losses without expecting something back. Thus, crying in sorrow at night when there was nobody around and bravely standing up to face all difficulties after crying was what a Mother ought to do.
After confirming Gregory’s title, Lea and Elvis did not hide the matters that happened between Gu Mengmeng and Cole, as well as, the matters related to the doors of time and space, from him when discussing with Gu Mengmeng. Sometimes, they would specially explain to him so he kinda knew what was going on.
Tightening his grip around Gu Mengmeng, Gregory lowered his voice and said, “The weak falls prey to the strong and survival of the fittest are originally the principles of the Beast World. You’re not wrong, there’s no need to feel sad.”
“I’m not sad.” Gu Mengmeng straightened her neck and refused to admit defeat.
Gregory placed both hands on Gu Mengmeng’s shoulders and stared into her eyes. His gaze was not sharp and instead, it was as calm as spring water but it had the power to see through someone’s mind. He said, “A bird’s eyes are the most sensitive, you can’t deceive me with your strong front….there’s no need to hide your true self from me. Although we’re not partners, I’m considered your male and I will always take into consideration your feelings by thinking from your perspective. To me, everything that brings you good is correct.”
Gu Mengmeng pursed her lips and remained silent.
There was a type of emotion in her that was hard to describe.
Before you do something, you already knew that you would be despised by the entire world after you had done it and you were prepared to undergo the criticisms that were going to be thrown at you. So, when the entire world threw rotten vegetables at you, you could clench your teeth hard and tell yourself that you would not regret and everything was worth it. But at this time, someone appeared in front of you suddenly and hugged you in a warm embrace, comforting you softly, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here and I believe you.” When this person appeared, the towering wall around you would collapse and you would vent all wronged feelings and fragility that was hidden inside you.
Gu Mengmeng rubbed her wet eyes and said, choked with tears, “Why do you have to make it into a grieving matter instead of despising me? It’s rare for me to make up my mind to act the bad woman role.”
Gregory laughed, replying, “You’re the best Mother and best partner in this world. Who has the nerve to criticize you? They still have to ask for Elvis’s, Lea’s and my consent.”
