Wales waved his hands messily and said, “Who told you to really sleep with him? Tsk… really dumb, could I possibly force my own daughter-in-law into the bed of another male? Do you think that I am such a fool?”
Gu Mengmeng silently agreed.
She and Snake… They had a special relationship, but she really could not hold up the title of Snake’s ‘daughter-in-law’.
“I only want you to plot a scheme for him once, make him fall head over heels in love with you… Because only then, his heart can be useful.” Wales smiled in a drowsy state. With a unique characteristic that belonged only to the Snake Clan of slyness and sinister, he said with a scheming face, “You know where the Spirit of the Rocky Cliffs is at?”
Gu Mengmeng shook her head and a doubt formed in her mind.
Could it be that the Spirit of the Rocky Cliffs and Cole are related?
As though he had seen through her thoughts, Wales smiled and nodded his head, saying, “The Spirit of the Rocky Cliffs is derived from the Soul of the Forest. In order for the forest to grow healthily, it needs to absorb nutrients and Cole… is that source of nutrients now.”
Gu Mengmeng looked at Wales in confusion.
Wales gave a burp but while half-conscious, he raised a finger and pointed in midair as he said, “The Soul of the Forest originally had two leaves, one left… one right… Yeah, both can be used to save lives, grow flesh from bones, and bring back the dead… Ya, it’s just like this. But, in fact, it has a third leaf. Only when this third leaf has grown out and opened completely, the Spirit of the Rocky Cliffs will then exist in the world.”
As Wales spoke, he swayed until he reached Gu Mengmeng and placed his hands on her shoulders, as he tried to look as serious as he could, but Gu Mengmeng could only see his drunken state.
“This first piece of leaf is called ‘benevolence’, the second one is ‘kindness’ and the third one… is ‘love’. So if you want Spirit of the Rocky Cliffs to appear in the world, you have to make Cole fall in love with you, so deeply in love that he would be willing to die for you, then this third leaf of Soul of the Forest will then sprout.” While speaking, he released Gu Mengmeng’s hands, then stared straight at his palm and said, “When you gather the seven treasures… I can then really be revived, then I can finally meet her… It has been a thousand years, I have wasted an entire millenium…”

Gu Mengmeng had experienced these four words once because of Snake and another time because of Gregory, so she had strong emotions towards it.
Wales shook his head and replied, “It is just one of the upsetting phenomena. By upsetting, it meant that even though it is tough, it will still be the past. Just like me, I have endured a thousand years… but at the thought of being able to return to her side soon, I feel that this thousand year’s torture was only a short moment.”
Wales stopped, then looked at Gu Mengmeng and said, “When Snake died, you must be in great pain right… But has that pain subsided so much that you could not recall now? So the most torturous thing is not being separated at death because even though it was painful, it will gradually be forgotten and one would recover from it.”
“Then tell me, what is the most painful torture?” Gu Mengmeng asked.
