Hello! This is Roy, author of By the Grace of the Gods. I’d like to thank you for picking up this ninth volume, where the Mad Salamander arc finally comes to its conclusion. While the salamanders didn’t get much screen time in hindsight, I think it’s safe to say Ryoma enjoyed his time in the peaceful fishing village.

Gimul, on the other hand, has fallen from grace, with rampant crime in the streets. Shocked by the city’s changes, Ryoma resolves to make a difference himself... But we start to see him act uncharacteristically.

Chasing after a dream may be fun, but it certainly isn’t easy. More often than not, reality stops us somewhere along the way. Without facing reality head-on, there’s no incentive to keep going, and your dream ends up being just that—a dream. How will Ryoma deal with the deteriorating city while stuck at a crossroads between dreams and reality?

Well, maybe that’s reading into things too much. Feel free to appreciate the story any way you want, as the reader.

Oh, one more thing—the anime adaptation of By the Grace of the Gods is scheduled to start airing in October 2020! There’s an official website and everything up for it, and personally, I can’t wait to see it.
