Laurent had to maintain his dignity as a husband and as a father before his wife and daughter.
There was no way he was going to admit it. Fali could roughly tell that there had been a conflict between her father and Chen Zhao.
“Dad, Chen and I have prepared dinner. Let’s eat first. Chen’s really a good chef.”
“Are you sure it’s enough for all of us? Kane, Karim and Howard haven’t eaten too.”
“It’s definitely enough. Chen’s appetite is really big.”
Kane, Karim and Howard were called into the house. When they carried the steamer basket out from the kitchen, even Faur was astonished.
“Chen, do you eat this much everyday? Aren’t you afraid to get fat from eating so much carbs?” Faur asked in surprise.
Most athletes would eat meat, fish and carbs. Carbs would eventually be turned into fats.
A large amount of exercise would then turn the fats into muscles. However, if a person had too much carbs and too little exercise, it would become fat layers.
Most Americans did not have the habit of eating rice.
Nevertheless, Fali had been staying with Chen Zhao for a long time. When they were still friends, Fali had already been eating rice almost everyday.
Becoming fat was also impossible for Fali.
As a coastal lifeguard, even if Fali did not eat rice, she still had to eat other kinds of carbs.
“Fali, don’t you feel it’s too crowded to live with him and so many pets?” Laurent glanced at Chen Zhao. “Why don’t you give me two of your pets, say those two huge dogs.”
“Dad, they’re not dogs. They’re wolves.”
Cough, cough…
Laurent almost spurted some rice out from his nose. “They’re wolves?!”
“Yeah.”
“It’s too dangerous! You should send them to the zoo immediately. I definitely don’t allow my daughter to stay with wolves. Or, you break up with him now.”
“Dad, I hope there is a valid reason before you interfere with our relationship.” Fali’s face darkened. “I feel really happy with Chen. I’m not going to break up with him because of such a ridiculous reason.”
Chen Zhao glanced at Laurent with the corner of his eye with a smile of victory.
As a bystander, Faur could clearly see the silent war between Chen Zhao and her father.
Faur sighed. They surely would not be able to get along with each other.
Laurent was almost mad. With a stern face, he said, “He’s not for you. He’s just not good enough.”
“Dad!” Also enraged, Fali slapped the table. “Please respect Chen.”
“Laurent, that’s too much,” Winnip also said.
She was not really helping Fali. She just wanted to resolve the conflict between Laurent and Fali.
If it continued, they were probably going to argue further.
Actually, Chen Zhao was also having a headache. If he knew it was Fali’s father, he would have acted much more calmly.
However, the conflict had already happened. It was too late to regret.
Nonetheless, Chen Zhao did not want Fali to argue with her parents because of him.
A woman in a film could say to her parents, “We’ll be happy even without your blessing.”
It was only a word of anger. No daughter would want her parents to be absent for her wedding.
The only thing Chen Zhao could do now was to not make things worse.
Nevertheless, the atmosphere during dinner was still rather tense.
“Fali, your dad and I are going back to the hotel now.”
“Mom, which hotel are you staying at? Chen and I will go and visit you tomorrow,” Fali asked.
“Hilton Hotel.”
Fali was stunned. She looked at Chen Zhao and then at Laurent. “Did you already meet each other last night?”
Nobody answered the question. It was truly an embarrassing night for Laurent.
It was the first time he peed himself in fear, a really unspeakable humiliation.
“Alright, we should leave now. Don’t come to the hotel tomorrow. Your dad and I want to go out and play ourselves. You’ll only make things inconvenient for us.”
“Okay then.”
Winnip looked at Faur. “Faur, where are you going? I’ll drive you.”

“That asshole is definitely telling Fali about what happened to me. I’ll not let him off!” Laurent roared.
“Enough. You’ve embarrassed yourself enough already,” Winnip said emotionlessly.
“Kane, do you know any killer? Kill that asshole for me.”
“Mr. Laurent, I’m just a bodyguard. I don’t know any killer.”
“Kane, don’t listen to him.”
“Yes, Boss.”
Kane, Karim, and Howard were actually Winnip’s bodyguards, not Laurent’s.
Therefore, in principle, they would only listen to Winnip.
“Winnip, why didn’t you help me during dinner?”
“Why would I help you? Chen’s not that bad at all. At least he’s above the passing line.”
“How is he up to grade? I think he’s worthless.”
“At least he can earn money and protect Fali. He also treats Fali well.”
“Why didn’t I realize that he’s been good toward Fali?”
“Didn’t you see the two cars parked outside? Fali has an Aston Martin, and he has a Ford.”
“Maybe Fali bought it herself. Maybe even that Ford was bought by Fali.”
Winnip rolled her eyes. “Fali once asked me for money, but the next day she told me she didn’t need it anymore.”
“That kid is surely eyeing your money. He wants Fali to inherit your property and then he can have it without effort.”
Faur had been sitting in the front passenger seat. She could not even be bothered with her father.
She felt that the older her father was, the more childish he was.
“Faur, are you sure Chen can treat your father’s illness?” Winnip asked.
“Yes, absolutely. He’s the best doctor I’ve seen.”
“Then why would he become an illegal doctor?”
“Because illegal doctors earn more than legal doctors. At least he’s earning more than me.”
“Did you hear that? He’s just a greedy bastard. The only thing in his eyes is money.”
“Laurent, do you really not need his treatment?”
“He’s not the only good doctor in the world. Why must I find him?”
“He will treat you for free,” Winnip said.
“…” Laurent was speechless. “Kane, do you know any gang? Find someone to beat him up.”
“Mr. Laurent, if you want to beat him up, you better find an entire gang. A few people probably ain’t enough.”
“Aren’t you professional? Can’t you beat him?”
“He’s very strong.”
