AFTERWORD

Hullo, Kumo Kagyu here. Did you enjoy Volume 12 of Goblin Slayer? This story brings us just up to the point where goblins appear and Goblin Slayer has to slay them. I put my all into writing it, so I would be thrilled if you had fun.

Still, twelve volumes—wow! And to think, I expected to wake up and find it all over, with dawn peeking through the window, three volumes ago.

This time we have a short story collection, so you get a taste of all the different adventurers going on all their different adventures. As a practical issue, the part of the world we know is much smaller than the part we don’t, and there are a lot more adventures out there than just goblin hunting. Saving the world from an evil wizard or running through the shadows of the city are just as adventurous.

…Which is just what I’m always talking about here, so I won’t repeat myself.

Take an example: In addition to a manga version, a tabletop RPG, and a TV anime, Goblin Slayer is getting a theatrical film. Naturally, there are going to be a lot of people involved, way more than I’ll ever know personally. I don’t even know all the people who are part of the production of these books. Think of everyone involved in promotion, planning, creating brochures and marketing materials, and now everyone who runs all the theaters.

These days there are even people involved in this series overseas, and I’m sure some of them do jobs I can’t even imagine.

Then, of course, there’s everyone who’s been so kindhearted as to pick up these books—this is thanks to you, too. There’s everyone who’s supported me since the web-novel days, all the aggregator-blog admins. All my friends.

Each part of this series exists thanks to a wide range of people—the movie version obviously, but even this single book. There’s Kannatuki, everyone in the editorial department… Boy, I’ll never have enough pages for the entire list.

This is why I can never claim to have done it all by myself. If anyone says, “Kumo Kagyu got all the way to a theatrical release all by himself,” that person is wrong. I can’t tell you how lucky I’ve been to meet all the people I have, and how grateful I am for all of them.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

So, that means Volume 13 is next. I assume it will be a story about goblins showing up, and Goblin Slayer having to slay them. I’ll continue to put my all into writing it, and I hope you’ll continue enjoying it.
