AFTERWORD

Hullo! Kumo Kagyu here.

Did you enjoy Volume 9 of Goblin Slayer?

I think it was a story in which goblins showed up, so Goblin Slayer slayed them. I really put my heart into writing it, so it would make me very happy if you enjoyed it.

I’m thrilled to say that there’s going to be an anime, and the manga version is doing great, which means the light novels have to keep up their end as well…

I’ve had lots of work to do, and that’s terrific, but now I’ve written several afterwords in a row. I’m starting to sweat for things to write about. I sort of feel like running through the shadows of great cities and warring angels are all I’ve got, or maybe not.

Still, the fact that I’ve made it this far is thanks to the help of a great many people, so let’s start with our roll call of gratitude.

To all my gaming and creative friends, I’m always grateful for you.

To Kannatuki-sensei, my illustrator—our rabbit friend looks adorable; thank you for that!

To Kurose-sensei, who does the manga, I think we’re right at the end of Volume 2 as I write this, and I’m loving every minute of it…!

To all the summary-site admins, I really appreciate your encouragement.

To everyone in editorial, I owe you so much. Thanks for helping with another book.

And to everyone I don’t know but who has been involved in this book, thank you.

Then there are my readers, the ones who actually picked up this book—thank you! It’s your help and support that have allowed me to start two new stories. I know not everyone wants PR stuff in the back of their books, but bear with me here. I managed to fill six whole lines with just thank-yous, after all. Think of this as just one more way you help me.

The first of the new stories I mentioned is the second “side story” spinoff. Called Tsubanari no Daikatana, it chronicles the battle against the demons ten years before Goblin Slayer begins. Put it this way: if Goblin Slayer is an adventure story, this one is its lore.

Then there’s Tenka Isshu, in which the most august personage Imagawa Ujizane and his wife travel to Kyoto and throw down with some ninjas. That’s right: it’s a samurai story. Who the hell would be stupid enough to submit a story like that for the Light Novel Rookie Prize? It would fail in the last round of selections, and they would wind up standing there crying, “Adriaaaan!” Er, I mean, that’s what I imagine would happen.

Plus, Goblin Slayer Volume 10 is still in the works. I can only assume that goblins will show up and Goblin Slayer will have to slay them.

I’ll be giving my all to writing each of these books, so please enjoy them.

Well, I’ll see you in whatever comes out next.

Bye for now!
