“When did I say you can’t be his friend?” asked Nian Xi innocently. She gave Jiang Yuning a nudge and said, “Please explain to her.”
Huh? He was a bit confused.
Xi is capable of change, he thought.

“It has nothing to do with her,” Jiang Yuning said to He Xin after a short hesitation. “I found your name sounds a little like hers. Also, calling you Xinxin sounds a little too intimate. So I decided to call you by your full name. If you don’t like it, I’ll call you Ms. He.”

He looked at Nian Xi. His lips were even shaking.
To his surprise, Nian Xi nodded with a smile and said, “Of course. You’re Yuning’s friend. You can stay in the guest room. Yuning and I will sleep in the master bedroom. Let us know if you need anything.”
Now Jiang Yuning’s legs started to tremble.
What? Would they sleep in the master bedroom?
Would he sleep together with Nian Xi tonight?
He couldn’t stay calm.
He Xin was stunned. She tried to stay composed, but her face grew pale.
“Are you… living together already?” she asked.
“Oh, no,” Nian Xi said smilingly. “We’ve slept together occasionally. We’re a modern couple. We’re not married yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t sleep with each other. Well, if you’re asking when we started doing that, I think it was in France.”
Jiang Yuning felt as if his brain wasn’t working anymore.
He Xin’s mouth corners twitched. “France? That was last year.”
“Yeah. I was responsible for his safety back then.” Nian Xi continued with, “We knew each other way before that, though. He often got lost. Every time he couldn’t find his way home, he came to the police station to find me. He refused to go with anyone but me. So later on, I brought him to my place. Eh, enough of our stories. Ms. He, you can stay here and clean the lab. Yuning and I are going out to do some shopping. We won’t back for dinner. We’ll come back before bedtime.”
After saying that, she dragged Jiang Yuning toward the door without waiting for He Xin’s response.
By the door, she turned and said, “Oh, forget about the compensation. I don’t need that little money. Besides, Yuning has already bought me new kitchen appliances.”
After they left, the smile on He Xin’s face gradually faded.

After getting into Nian Xi’s car, Jiang Yuning finally realized what was happening. With red cheeks, he stuttered, “Xi, if you… if you don’t want me to stay here with her for the night, I can go to your place tonight. You don’t have to share a room with me. That’s… not good.”
