Jiang Yuning pursed his lips and thought for a while. It was indeed so.
He felt cold even in he was in his fleece jacket today.
He looked down at the black nightdress in his hand in frustration. He regretted it so much. Why did he only pay attention to the stars back then? At least he should have gone to look at the stars after admiring the dress.
Nian Xi saw that he had lowered his head and did not say anything. She felt that she had finally vented her anger. She drank up the coconut water, ate the beef jerky, and biscuits, then laid down and decided to sleep.
“You are sleeping so early,” Jiang Yuning said bitterly. “It’s not even nine o’clock now. Can you fall asleep?”
Nian Xi sighed. “What else can I do if I don’t sleep? It’s minus one degree outside. I’ll freeze to death if I go out. I can’t use my phone, and I can’t watch TV.”
The more she talked, the more she felt like crying.
After coming to Ngari, she felt as if she was living the life of an old man.
“Xixi, are you… regretting?” Jiang Yuning suddenly curled up beside her and whispered. It wasn’t that he didn’t notice that she was sometimes in a bad mood these days, especially when she had no signal on her phone. She often lost her temper.
“Regretting what?”
“Coming to Tibet, coming to Kailash.” Jiang Yuning stared into her eyes, “I came here once with my mother and her team. I know it’s tough, and it was seven or eight years ago. The signal was even worse, and the environment was even worse. When I came, many roads weren’t repaired. Maybe I should have decided to come to Kailash on my own because I wanted to watch the stars. Actually, we should have just traveled to Lhasa. I can come here myself next time.”
“Don’t say such silly things. What kind of person am I? I’m a policewoman. I’ve been through all kinds of hardships. It’s just a trip to Ngari. Others can come. Why can’t I?” Nian Xi was afraid that he would let his imagination run wild, so she quickly denied it, “I’m just not used to having no signal on my phone. I can’t check WeChat or watch the news. I don’t even know what major events have happened in the past few days since I’ve been away. Has the China–United States trade war ended? Has my favorite star gotten married? Have the stocks I bought increased recently? Has my brother and sister-in-law conceived a second child…”

Jiang Yuning scratched the back of his head. They had only been in Ngari for a few days. How was it possible that so many things had happened? “Xixi, aren’t you worrying a little too much? I hope that you only think of me now, at least during the time we are in Tibet.”
His voice sounded a little wronged and innocent.
Nian Xi suddenly felt guilty. It was probably because she had been too tired and suffered these past few days that she had forgotten what kind of feelings both of them had before departing.
She turned around and quickly hugged his waist, “Don’t let your thoughts run wild. I’ve never regretted coming with you. I’ve been single for so many years, and it’s not easy for me to finally spend time with my hubby. Although the journey is a little tough, being with you is always good. It’s cold now, but who says that curling up in a sleeping bag isn’t a kind of happiness? Who says that supporting each other in difficult times isn’t happiness? Who knows?”
Jiang Yuning’s eyes grew brighter and sweeter as he listened. He lowered his head and hugged Nian Xi as he said sweetly, “Xixi, what you said makes sense. Although there’s no signal here, we can still do something else to pass the time.”
“You’re not talking about me accompanying you to see the stars, right?” Nian Xi’s face stiffened, and she shook her head vigorously. “I’m not going. I’m not going. It’s freezing.”
“I’m not talking about seeing the stars.” Jiang Yuning was anxious, and his ears were slightly red. “It’s much more interesting than seeing the stars.
