Chapter 900: Put Mr. Jiang in an Important Place

“Mr. Jiang, what are you doing?” Seeing him writing leisurely under such a critical situation, Uncle Han questioned him.

“Writing a love letter.” Jiang Yuning poked his ears with his pen and said, “I’m not good at it. You guys have any suggestions?”

Nian Xi nearly passed out. The situation wasn’t good, yet he was still thinking about writing love letters.

Fang Qi glanced at Nian Xi in a meaningful way, then laughed and asked him, “Who is the love letter for?”

“I’m not telling you.” Jiang Yuning lowered his head, then sneakily glanced at Nian Xi, with a faint smile.

Nian Xi wanted to crawl into a deep hole.

Please, you are making it so obvious, she thought.

Zhan Hong laughed and said, “You are amazing. We are all over forty. We forgot about how to write love letters long ago. But I do know that a love letter is for expressing your true heart. Just write down whatever crosses your mind. That’ll be enough.”

Jiang Yuning closed his eyes and fell into subtle thoughts.

Not long after they returned to the hotel, Uncle Han rebooked the plane tickets.

That night, Zhan Hong, Nian Xi and Fang Qi held a small meeting in a room.

“I’ve received a phone call from Lizhi. According to him, two suspicious people showed up near the hotel earlier today, after we came back.” Zhan Hong showed the others the picture from Huo Lizhi. “Two black people, tall and strong.”

Fang Qi glanced at the picture, then clicked his tongue and said, “Very strong. I think they’re both good fighters.”

Zhan Hong continued with a serious look. “Our Director sent us here to make sure everything will be alright. Before we left, he told us this may or may not be a safe trip. I guess our worst guess is very likely to become real. Now, I only wish we could leave this place safely tomorrow.”

“Who are they? Who do they work for?” Nian Xi frowned and asked.

“We don’t know much about science,” said Zhan Hong in a low voice. “But we do watch TV. We know that some scientific technologies deliver major improvements in terms of economy, even military…”

“Are you saying that…” Fang Qi was surprised.

“That’s nothing that we should know about.” Zhan Hong raised a hand and interrupted him. “Our job is to protect him. If… If we need to face severe danger, we need to put Mr. Jiang in the safest place…”

Fang Qi and Nian Xi nodded together.

Nian Xi had served as a police officer for years but it was the first time she carried out such an important mission; she was heavyhearted.

“And, there is one other thing.” Zhan Hong abruptly turned to Nian Xi. “If you decided to be with Mr. Jiang, you need to be strong and be prepared. Things like this may happen again.”

Nian Xi opened her mouth but the situation felt complicated.

Zhan Hong didn’t let her talk, but continued, “I’m not sure which stage you are at now. I’m only reminding you. Being with him might bring you glory. You will be proud of him, but at the same time, you will need to take risks for him too.”

Nian Xi didn’t know what to say.

As the meeting was over, she came out of that room and went upstairs. Hearing the noises she made, Jiang Yuning quickly came out of his room, holding a note with a shy face —’Do you have an answer yet, about what I said to you before?’

Nian Xi paused, managing not to react immediately.

Jiang Yuning took out the second note —’Girlfriend…’

“You’re still thinking about getting a girlfriend? Now?” Nian Xi didn’t even know how to react. Sometimes, she honestly admired him for being so innocent.

Jiang Yuning nodded. Whatever was happening at the time, making Nian Xi his girlfriend was the most important thing to him.

Nian Xi looked at him, the adult; he was grown, yet he was so pure and innocent. She was proud of knowing him and didn’t mind spending more time with him. However, Zhan Hong was right. To be with him, she needed to take risks.
