Id Chapter 1

Synopsis:

One day, suddenly we see Id was dropped into the continent of Gressen, a whole different world. He meets the dragon, Graydron and accidentally obtains the magical sword, Lamia. The journey back home however, is far and will be harsh.

Translator’s Note: I tried to make this series more modern-like, meaning I made an effort to transform old Korean words into words we use today in the English language. I hope this isn’t a bother to most of you because it would be extremely confusing for me to put in words that just don’t feel right along with the rest of the sentence. Also, I am aware that the first 3 chapters have already been released, however I wish to start my version of the novel from the beginning so that the viewers, you guys can adapt to my style of translating. Finally, since I don’t have an editor, I may have some errors that slid through. If you see an error, please don’t be hesitant to let me know. Thank you and enjoy.

Various lights circled me, almost like a vortex. My body felt like nothing, just weightless.

The bracelet I had around my arm, all of sudden started glowing and coated my entire body.

Suddenly, several things flew past my head.

What could it be? Then, my consciousness gradually faded away.

Drip, drip…

Sounds of water droplets falling rung in my head.

“Ugh… my head… where-” (TL Note: He regains consciousness and feels pain on his head, he then questions where he is.)

I opened my eyes and saw myself in a dark cave. Where is this place?

‘I remember falling into a strange place, but just where is this place?’

When I first looked around the area, I saw that there was a extremely high ceiling. Also, there was only one direction for me to go, which was to advance deeper into the cave.

“What is this? I’ve never seen a cave like this before in Joongwon.” (TL Note: Joongwon is where he is from.)

I felt this absurd feeling, it was like I was stunned. That bright cave I just passed…

“Uh, am I dreaming? Ugk, aigo… that hurts.” (TL Note: Ugk – like that sound when you feel a sharp pain. The term “aigo” is a Korean equivalent of “geez”.)

I just pinched my cheek. Don’t think I’m pathetic.

Just how crazy am I? If you don’t understand, try taking my place in this situation. ㅠ.ㅠ

Then, I started to examine my body to see if anything was weird. There wasn’t anything strange.

However, the bracelet I had wrapped around my arm was now gone.

‘Well, from the things that happened so far, let’s continue.’

The cave was huge. Also, the strange thing was that the cave was no longer dark, it is now bright.

The light seemed to come from a small object on the wall.

“That’s ridiculous, how can that… Well, it is a pretty long cave.”

My walk here was fairly long. I don’t know how long I walked here for. Since I am inside a cave, I couldn’t tell how much time has passed. After a long walk, I could see the end of the cave.

However, it didn’t seem lead to the outside world. Instead something way more menacing…

“It sounds like the breathing of an enormous animal… what could it be..?”
I used the Gyong Gong Sul technique to kill the noise coming from my footsteps to reach the end of the cave with silence.

And what I saw…

How can that thing… I’ve never seen anything like it, even from a book.

I once again carefully looked at the thing. Its enormous body gave off a golden shine. I couldn’t even see the whole body from my point of view as it was so big. It appeared to have a long neck, golden wings, a long tail, all on four feet. It also had a horn on its head. Judging from the breathing and its closed eyes, the monster seemed to be asleep.

There was also a small pedestal in front of his face. With a strange looking sword on top of it.

‘I’ve never seen such sword before, also what is that monster, I am not from here, am I? Seriously, where the hell am I?’

After thinking about my situation right now, I first decided to pick up the strange sword. Although, using a sword like like, probably wouldn’t do much against the monster.

‘Since I couldn’t wake up the monster… the only way to not make any noise was to use the Dap Gong Nung Huh technique.

Once again, I used Gyong Gong Sul to walk on the air hovering the ground to get to where the sword was. I got down to the sword. The sword had a white handle wrapped around with a strange pattern, sheathed in a red scabbard. There was also a gem in the sword, which gave off this odd light.

As I got to finally examine the usual sword, I got this feeling as if the sword was at the same time watching me.

“There’s no way…”

Then, I turned back with an ominous thought. My eyes soon met the two golden eyes of the monster. Despite the monstrous looking eyes, it was calmness and serenity that filled them. Such eyes were full of strength and wisdom. And then for a moment, we just stared at each other.

All of this and I went through another absurd experience. This being the realization of that the monster could speak.

“How did you get in here?”

“Speak……”

“Did you not hear me asking? How did you get in here?

‘Stay calm. This isn’t Joongwon, but another place. First of all, stay calm….”

I looked at the monster’s face to face to speak. Huh, such a rare experience.

“Um.. Hmm… I am Ye Chun Hwa… and I do not know how I got here.”

‘It wouldn’t get angry at me for speaking to him in a such informal manner, right?’ (TL Note: The Korean culture demands people who are younger to pay respects to their elders, even such little things as changing their way of speaking the language.)

As I was pondering, it began to speak once more.

“Well… it seems you are telling the truth. Your name is Ye Chun Hwa you say? I have never heard that name before anywhere on this continent.”

“If you have not heard my name from anywhere, where is this place?”

Since I started off using informal language, I guess I should continue using it…..

“This is the border of the continent once known as Gressen, however I do not know what it is called now. “

I was in a hurry to hear his explanation as I didn’t understand anything it said.

‘Gressen… I have never heard of it before… but… how did I…. the things that he said were just so strange. ‘

As I stood there with a blank expression, he stared at me for a little while and began to speak again.

“If aren’t from here, then can you explain how you can speak our language?”

Such a good question from a smart monster.

“I don’t know. I don’t know how I could speak this language… though it seems as if I was speaking this language my entire life.”

After I spoke with such confusion, the monster spoke softly.

“Awake.” (TL Note: Or “wake up”, same thing.)

Then, I felt these confusing thoughts in my head becoming lined up and organized.

“Are you okay now?”

“Yes, my head is cleared… how did you do it?”

“This is dragon magic, do you not know what it is?”

As a response, I shook my head. I have never heard such thing. Then I questioned him.

“Have you really never heard anything similar to my name before?

It nodded its head unabashedly.

“You do not seem to be from here. How did you get here?”

“I don’t know. I was in the mountains and I fell into a strange light. When I awoke, I was in a cave, so I walked along the cave and now I am here.”

“Well, I do not know for sure, however Chun Hwa, I believe you have crossed into another dimension.”

What does that mean…?

“What dimension? What are you saying?”

“I can’t explain it to you quickly. In short, God created various worlds, in which a wall was built between each world, that wall is a dimension.”

“Okay then, how do I get over that wall again?

“I don’t know. The only person that can cross is the Creator, the source of light and the source of darkness. No other God nor Dragon Lord can cross dimensions…. however, since you have crossed dimensions already, I wonder if there is a way for you to go back.”

I was baffled by its words. What the hell…. I wonder if this is some prank by the Creator… no it can’t be, I mean he’s a God, right? Ha~ I want to cry right now. I carried myself over to where the sword laid and sat. The monster silently looked at me. I guess it understood how I felt. I let my mind calm down and I proceeded to ask it questions.

“Wait, what are you doing here? Before you answer that, what’s your name?”

“Hu~ you are the first human who doesn’t seem to be fazed with a dragon in front of you. My name is Graydron.”

“Graydron? A weird name indeed. So, what are you doing here?”

Then, he pointed at the sword next to me and said, (TL Note: I shall now be referring to Graydron as a “he” now as they now have introduced one another.)

“I’ve been guarding that sword. It has been over ten thousand years.”

“Ha~ guard that sword for what? So, are you over ten thousand years old?

“Yes, I don’t know my exact age. However, I should be around fifteen thousand years old.

“So, shall I use formal language then…?” (TL Note: Well…. the dragon is older than him…)

“That’s not necessary. You may keep speaking the way you have been speaking.”

Ha~ how sad. What could be the reason for him to guard this sword for ten thousand years? My focus then shifted over to sword and had this desire to grab the sword with my hands. However, Graydron stopped me.
“That sword has a mind and life of its own. When a man, who is not its master or unqualified to be its master touches the sword, they will be destroyed.

“Ha.. ha… such a great sword. Who in their right mind created this sword? No! Who is its owner? Actually never mind, the sword probably doesn’t have a master yet, that’s why you are guarding it.”

The monster let out a big sigh as he began to speak. He must have a lot in store….
