Legend of Gemini - Chapter 8

I don't know why the women and even some groups of men are screaming when I arrive at the auditorium. "It looks like there is someone new that our brothers here in the sanctuary idolized." Says Op-art.

"Hello brother?" The sudden greeting of Saturn. My forehead wrinkle, I don't understand what it indicates.

"I don't understand?" I mutter.

"Here at the sanctuary the level of intelligence is the new black." Saturn utter. "When you answered correctly to Reverend Astromiya when we have peer teaching to the young demons means that you have a high level of intelligence."

"An enticing talent for our other demon brothers." Op-art added.

"Is that so? If so, I should also study properly to become famous here." Skye said.

"How much you want to be famous but we only have three months left. What's the use?" I said to young man. Maybe what I said something bad because they all stop and look at me. "Oppsss!"

"Sometimes your keenness makes sense." Said Saturn.

"What sometimes, I'm always smart!" Op-art said to Saturn.

I change the subject. "Now that we are talking about idolizing our fellow demon, does that mean that there are others here who have relationships?"

"Good question. There are also but unfortunately they wont last." Saturn answered. I frowned to what he said, curious.

"He still don't know yet the things that are forbidden here at the Sanctuary." Exclaimed Kevan.

"I know! I have read  it on the tablet." I responded to the two.

"Why? What is it?" Skye.

"Here we go again! You should have read your tablet." Kevan's reproach to Skye.

"Heheh! Sorry!" Excuse of Skye.

"A demon child must not fall in love to a fellow demon child. Our ancestors said." Kevan's cited.

"And what is the punishment for the person who violated it?" REulus inserted.

"Death, brother."

Death? What am I going to do now? How will I attract my lost soulmate? The gods and goddesses are really playing with my patience.

"I have a question, the Pillars are not demons right? Regulus asked.

"Yes." Kevan responded.

 "I'm just wondering, where are they're soulmates?"

"No one knows. The Pillars have different reasons to what happen to their soulmates. Maybe the other's choose to work in the government of their planet, some became Pillars and the others became Star Cops, pirate or criminal? Maybe that's the main reason, their soulmate becoming criminals." Kevan answered. Kevan has a point. When you become a Pillar, you have to sacrifice your love to serve the deities.

"Are we going to teach here again? I'm dead! I don't really have an interest in history and science." Regulus's complaint.

"No, we are her to discuss the upcoming Annual Demon Children Games next month."

"Astonomiya mentioned that on the first day we came here in the Sanctuary, but he didn't say the full details. What is it all about?" Skye ask.

"Every year, the Sanctuary will host a game before the month of fasting or Tri-Polar eclipse came.  It's like the tribute for the demon children aged seventeen before they are offered to the gods and goddesses. It is a three days feast before the mourning to the senior demons." Saturn responded.

"So its a celebration before you get killed?" I declared.

"We. You're going to be killed." Saturn clarified. They laugh to what I said.

You will but I'm not. Just watch! I won't stay in this place. I will find my soulmate.

The seats in the auditorium are occupied by the demons. The young ones are below and the the seniors are sitting above. As always, everyone is wearing the jumpsuit uniform the same color of the room. The whiteness in the room dominated.

Silence.

All the lights in the auditorium was turned off. Our uniform illuminated.

With the Pillars coming together with Primo Copernicus, everyone stood up to greet them. "Good morning venerable Primo, our dear Reverends." We all simultaneously greets, no one greeted first, or last, all said it fast and clear. While the Pillars are walking and Primo Copernicus is going towards the stage, suddenly a transparent chairs made of glass appeared. They sat down and then it floats in the air.

The room is enveloped in darkness and the only light is focused on Primo who is in the center of the platform. "Everybody sit down!" Commands Primo Copernicus. Primo has a thick voice, although old but his voice is still powerful. I once met Primo when I was ten years old. We first met when all the sorcerers and Pillars met at the planet Chrome for the Galactic Summit. The Gallactic Summit is the meeting of all the leaders of the various planets to discuss peace in the diplomacy of the religion and politics, commerce and fostering the progress of technology here in Proxilius System of Parthenon Galaxy. I shook Primo's hand before. I don't know if he will recognize me. I hope he won't remember me, if he will recognized me my mission will fail.

"Children, in the upcoming Demon Children Games, I want to encourage everyone o\to be active in the activities and do your best." Primo's face suddenly appeared on the air digital projector and also in the broadcast screen wall. Thereby becoming more clear for us to see his expression on the face. His face has already many wrinkles. His eyes are like Nebula filled with the cataract because of his old age. The white toga his wearing is also notable. It looks heavy and the designs are odd, unlike the toga's of the Pillars. His white cloak in his back is from head to toe and the cloak from his hand reached his waist. Primo continued his speech, no brakes and you won't notice that he is weak because of his age.

It seems his knees are still strong.

Not one of his sermons reached my head. I have no interest in religion. I'm so bored and wasted my time here. It would be nice to sleep at this time.

"May the gods and goddesses bless your spirit." Primo Copernicus ended. The light that is focused to him was turned-off, as well ass the floating broadcast cameras and microphone.

After Primo leaves the platform center, Reverend Astronomiya immediately replaced him. Again, the light and the floating broadcast cameras was focused on him. "My dear demons, our most-awaited day is coming." You could see his excitement. He turn to the left, then turn to his right and to his left again. He continued this gestures and it makes me dizzy. Unlike the other Pillars with serious aura, Reverend Astronomiya is cheerful and paranoid. " Because we believe in a world in which there is freedom and independence, we want the newcomers to let them choose freely their team for the upcoming games. Choose the team where you are comfortable and happy so that you will feel the joy brought by the feast of our dear gods and goddesses. There are four groups namely Northern Terra Nova, Western Terra Nova for the females and Southern Terra Nova, Eastern Terra Nova for the males." Reverend suddenly stop to catch some air. Its because she spoke very fast, not stopping. She took a deep breath before she continued preaching. "Each team will compete to gains points in the different challenge. The points will be added together and the team with the highest points wins."

After the big announcement in the auditorium, our normal chore foo the day continued. The Battle Star Tournament and Galaxy Trekking became the hot topic while the others are busy in the wheat farm. I don't know anything about this things that's why I paid attention on how the wheat is transfer in the mechanical truck.

"Pollux" Prometeus's called my name. He walks towards me together wth his friend Virgil.

"Yes, why?"

"Brother, we would like to invite you to join our group." Said the muscular Promenteus with a high pitch voice.

"And why should I join your group? Give me an acceptable reason." I said.

Saturn, Op-art, Kevan and the others who are near me notice that Promenteus invited him."Huh! They don't have a good reason brother. They're group always lose. Every year they try to be the champion, but they can't beat our team with Saturn."

"Brother Op-art." Promenteus calmly said to the playful young man. "We should let brother Pollux decide. Don't destroy the name our group, because we don't say things that will shame you to the new comers like him." Promenteus put his hand in my shoulder and makes a fake flame of knowledge of the young man.

What he said sickens me. It don't suit him.

"I'm sorry to our brother Op-art behavior. I personally apologize tou your group brother Promenteus." Saturn gentlemanly apologize to the leader of their rival group. Unlike the Promenteus's voice, Saturn has a natural gentle voice and aura.

"Well, I choose Promenteus group." I said carelessly.

"W-what?" Op-art shouted at my answer.

All their jaw dropped because my decision.

"Are you sure with your answer brother?" Saturn ask calmly.

"Eh, you stupid dumb ass! You know that ... " Op-art said to me in my face.

"Brother, let's respect Pollux's decision." Saturn said, he had enough of Op-art foul mouth.

"Thank you brother, you will not regret your decision." Virgil shake my hand in appreciation.

"Are there really no trace of regret you joining the Southern Terra Nova?" Asked Promenteus.

"I will join you." I repeated my answer.

Promenteus took the pin in his pocket then put it in my left chest near my name is. I checked the pin, it is shaped in arrow and the color is royal red like blood. It suits me because I'm good in aiming. "Starting today you will always wear it. The pin is the symbol of our group. We promise that we will be the first in the building block here in the sanctuary." Promenteus sincerely shook my hands. Eye for an eye, the members welcomed me in their group.

"Comrades! Our new foundation: Celestial Pollux!" Virgil proudly introduced me to the members. I gave them a fake laugh.
