Magi’s Grandson Chapter 106 Part 2
If we didn’t play along with this twisted game, Schtrom would kill everyone. We had no choice.

“Well, let’s all have fun participating in this game, goodbye for now!” Schtrom said, and it seemed like we could feel him leave.

Org screamed after him.

“Schtrom! We’re not done here! Hey! Schtrom!”

Schtrom ignored Org, and left us to think of a plan to fight back against him. This is the worst possible outcome. We had wanted to build a non-interfering relationship with the demons, maybe even coexistence. But now that they had declared war on humankind, we had no choice but to retaliate in turn. There was no avoiding it. Org looked up to the sky, his face full of disappointment. I turned to him.

“Og… let’s go back to the capital for now. We have to report this…” Org spoke, failing to hide the sadness in his voice.

“That’s right… and I need to put out a report to the other countries…”

Org wanted to avoid this situation, but commanders from each country had already gathered here, so there was no hiding it.

Org regained his composure and turned to the commanders.

“We need to urgently prepare for a month from now.”

The commanders and their soldiers stared at Org, pale with astonishment and despair. We thought we would restore peace in the world,  but now extinction was on the horizon. It shouldn’t be like this. Our new enemies were disaster-level beasts, and demons stronger than we’d ever seen before. Even if the 12 ultimate magicians were to work together to overcome this crisis, dealing with hundreds of thousands of disaster class beasts would be a struggle, even for them. …It seems that there is only despair in mankind’s future. Really…. What should I do?

“But… Why did he suddenly make such a proposal?” asked Sicily, concerned about the fundamentals.

“Even when we were fighting the demons that had split off, they didn’t touch the world at all. So, why… suddenly…”

I agreed with Sicily, if I had intended to destroy the world, I wouldn’t have separated myself from the conquering demons, and I definitely wouldn’t have left them alone. So why?

“…I don’t know the thoughts of those who abandoned their humanity…”

Org, who had been thinking for a while, opened his mouth to speak.

“As unexpected as it sounds, it may have been an event that caused despair across the world.”

“Captain Zest.”

Shortly after Schtrom announced his war on humanity, one of the demons who had been listening went to speak to Zest, a former intelligence commander. Zest looked at him.

“What?”

“Well… we’re demons made by Schtrom, so we’ll follow any decision he makes…Why did he suddenly say something like this?”  the demon asked Zest with all of his might.

Schtrom’s declaration came as a surprise to non-aide demons such as Zest, so the demon couldn’t measure his true feelings on the matter. After thinking for a while, Zest sighed and answered him.

“Did you know of Schtrom’s experiment?”

The demon was surprised, having never heard of anything of the sort. “Experiment..? The one to turn animals to disaster level beasts…?”

“That is a different project. This one… is an experiment for our future.”

The demon knew that Schtrom had been working on magic that could force creatures to become beasts. He even knew that it had evolved further, shifting into a project to force the beasts to become disaster level. However, he had never heard of this experiment for the future.

It was probably another behind-the-scenes one. “So… what happened with that experiment?” he asked Zest. “Oh… The experiment..”

Zest recalled the results he had heard from Schtrom a few days ago. The experiment had been proposed by Milia, and was finally being carried out. Zest knew that the results of this experiment would determine the future of demonkind. He tensely waited for Schtrom to tell him the results. Finally, Schtrom began to announce the results.

“Experiment…. Failure.”

Zest was stunned by Schtrom’s words. Zest, shocked, shouted unintentionally.

“If the experiment is a failure, why do we exist!?” Stroem answered Zest’s outburst.

“Why? We exist to cause harm to the world.” Zest wanted to deny it. Their existence was harmful? He couldn’t accept such a fact. But the results of their experiment did not lie. Stroem continued to speak, looking at Zest as he did.

“A world where we shouldn’t exist. Do we really need something like that?”

Zest understood what he was saying. Schtrom was willing to destroy the world. He had decided that since demonkind was harmful to the world, he would not allow the world to exist.

“Conquest of the world… No… You want to destroy it?”

“Hehehe, as expected of you, Zest. It’s good to guess.”

Seeing Schtrom’s cheerful reaction, Zest swallowed the words he was about to speak. Does he want to destroy the world…or destroy himself?
