Chapter 5 – Devil VS Lovers 

Part 1 

It seemed the cheering competition was also counted as a match. The white team managed to obtain a lot of point there and turned the situation around. 

It became white 312 versus red 305. 

Thanks to that, it looked like the afternoon competition would still be heated, but it was time for boxed lunch before that. 

Yuu-kun! Good work out thereee! 

Mom met us in high spirit when we intruded into the private room of Himekami House.

She led us toward the balcony where we could view the whole schoolyard without any obstruction. 

A picnic blanket was spread out there and the boxed lunches were opened and spread around. 

The gorgeous interior of the room looked mismatched with this lunch setup. It felt like the commoner atmosphere was forcefully dragged into a celebrity space. 

So this is the boxed lunch of Yuuto’s Okaa-sama! It’s wonderful! 

......However Lizel-senpai was happy by it, so there was no problem. 

Onigiririce ball , karaagedeep fried food , fried prawns, chikuzennichicken stew with vegetables , rolled omelet, potato salad and cherry tomato, asparagus wrapped in bacon, etc. All of those were brought here using multi-tiered lunch box and some more containers from our house. They looked very delicious, especially now after doing physical exercise from the matches. 

Here, Yuu-kun’s favorite tuna onigiri.

Lizel-senpai said that while her eyes were moving quickly as though searching for something.

This onigiri......it’s delicious but, it’s taste is a bit different from the usual

She was spilling a lot of tea on her lap, on top of that the cup that she threw in panic landed on her head. Reina got soaked with cold tea from her head.

Various troubles like that happened, even so it was an enjoyable and delicious lunch time.

The afternoon matches started. I and Miyabi returned to the student seating of our class.

I have obstacle race and the relay’s final match......it’s a bit depressing though. 

I wanted to leave the relay to the guys with fast legs, but this would be a relay for each team’s devil king candidates. Its name was Devil King Candidates Relay. 

By the way it would merit disqualification if the candidates withdrew or asked other students to be substitute. No question asked. A substitute was allowed only for the Hanged Man’s replacement because he was absent, but it was no good if the candidates didn’t run in this relay despite attending the athletic festival.

Normally the devils would have the advantage if it was a match where the participants used magic though....... 

There was the rule that forced the candidates to run because at present there were only five devil king candidates participating in this event. So if that number decreased even more, the Devil King Relay wouldn’t be able to be held.

After that I and Neith headed together to the appointed place for the obstacle race. 

We were going to come out as the first group. 

I and Neith stood side by side at the start line while waiting for the action committee to prepare the obstacles.

I managed to catch up to Neith once more. She looked at me and smiled.

Neith had gone through under the net that was the next obstacle and started running again.

Feeling impatient, I dove under the net that was laid on the course. It was a net made from tough cord that spread for five meters to four directions. I brushed up the net while advancing with half-sitting posture ,

Suddenly my whole body turned numb. My limbs became unable to move and I fell on the ground.

The Chariot’s devil king candidate.

The sphinxes started running when she whipped the rein. The chariot that Neith drove was coming. 

No good! Neith would also get hit by the electricity and the mud magic! 

However, I couldn’t say anything with the mud covering my body until my mouth.

The chariot cut through the monster swarm. 

The monsters got sent flying to the air. 

They were kicked aside and trampled below. The chariot broke through in a straight line without even a shred of mercy and hesitation. 

And then, 

Neith reached the goal first. Ear-piercing applauses and cheers welled up from the stands. 

I also spoke my congratulation to the winner who won this race majestically. 

Neith, congratulations! Though I was a bit shocked by your different side.

It seemed she returned to her senses. Her expression looked flustered while she was looking around in panic.

Neith smiled with tearful eyes. It looked like the shadow of her worry had thinned down slightly.

And so Neith got first place in the obstacle race. She also broke the record time of the fastest in history. 

As for me......I was disqualified.
