Huo Yulin put the teacup down on the coffee table and said, “You don’t look well. Why don’t you give the school a pass and stay in today?”

Huo Yao rubbed her nose and shook her head. “No, I’d rather not. I just joined a research team, and don’t want to hold up the project.”

Huo Yulin did not insist upon it. He simply placed the medication inside her coat pocket. “Remember to take your meds.”

Huo Yao acknowledged him gently.

Since Huo Tingrui was in a hurry, he spoke briefly before leaving through the door hurriedly.

After breakfast, Huo Yao went upstairs to put on a thicker jacket before heading to school.

Huo Yao went over to the department laboratory after finishing her compulsory classes in the afternoon.

Even though Dai Jie, Tang Jun, and Wang Jing were studying PhD, they had more free time than Huo Yao. By the time she got to the laboratory, she discovered that they were already there working hard on calculations.

“Hi, Huo Yao… Hmm? You don’t look great today. Are you sick?” Wang Jing wanted to ask Huo Yao about the research, but promptly checked on Huo Yao when she noticed Huo Yao’s pale face.

Huo Yao smiled as she nodded to them. “I just have a slight cold. I am a lot better now.”

“If you are unwell, don’t force yourself. You really need to take care,” said Dai Jie in concern as he adjusted his spectacles.

“I am really fine,” replied Huo Yao and pulled a chair out. She sat down before turning on the computer.

Huo Yao picked up from where she had stopped the previous day and started doing calculations. Since she had a keen scientific mind, she finished the computation without any problems whatsoever.

However, Dai Jie and Tang Jun encountered a major hitch.

They were unable to come up with a viable way to make the autologous cells integrate with Genetic Engineering techniques, so even Wang Jing had put aside her work to help.

After Huo Yao was done doing some calculations, she raised her head and saw them sitting there sadly. Her hands paused briefly.

Liu Qian was not around and Yuan Huan was not on campus either, so only the four of them were in the laboratory.

Huo Yao said nothing after hearing their discussion. Instead, she continued working on her calculations.

If Wang Jing and the others had paid any attention towards her, they would have noticed that Huo Yao was doing the calculations a lot faster than she did previously.

Huo Yao was done with the initial calculations ten minutes later and sent them straight to Dai Jie and Tang Jun via email.

She finally raised her head and said to Dai Jie and Tang Jun, “I just mailed you the calculations. Why don’t you take a look and let me know if they work.”

She did not email it to Wang Jing since Wang Jing’s part had nothing to do with the programming.

Dai Jie and Tang Jun were instantly startled when they heard Huo Yao.

“Are you done already?” asked Dai Jie in surprise.

She had clearly done only one third of it yesterday!

Tang Jun glanced at the computer before picking up the mouse.

Huo Yao acknowledged softly. Her voice sounded a little nasal and wasn’t as clear as usual. “I worked on it a little more last night, but I don’t know if I am on the right track. Since you have more experience, let me know if I am doing it correctly. If you have any suggestions, I can always make changes.”

For some reason, Dai Jie felt inexplicably embarrassed.

Huo Yao had worked late last night on these calculations and even caught a cold. Even though he was her senior, he had yet to make any progress.

Dai Jie quietly lowered his head to look at the numbers on the computer.
