Li Fang finally froze when he heard what Huo Yao said and went quiet for a couple of seconds before he answered. “I caught a cold last year. The doctor said it was a viral infection.”

“Last year? Why didn’t you tell me about it?” asked Fang Chen in shock.

Li Fang smiled as he shook his head and said nonchalantly, “It was just a cold.”

“You should have paid more attention even though it was just a cold.” Fang Chen raised his head and looked at Huo Yao to ask. “Miss Huo, what is my teacher suffering from?”

“The viral infection has caused some lesions in his heart. Ever since the virus attacked his heart, his condition has already reached its later stage. Medically speaking, there is no cure.” Huo Yao shared her observations with them.

From the moment she saw Li Fang, she could tell that he looked pale, sickly, and was suffering from viral infection.

She had encountered similar conditions in the past.

Fang Chen placed his hands on the table powerlessly with his face ashen the moment he heard this. Her observation was similar to what the hospital had concluded. However, the hospital was unable to determine that the cause of the condition was a viral infection.

“Well, no one can escape death. Moreover, heart problems are genuinely tricky. At my age, I have already accepted the facts.” Li Fang sounded at ease and seemed to have already resigned to the outcome of his condition.

Fang Chen shook his head. He was keenly aware that only patients who had lost all hope would fully accept their conditions. Just last year, he was in the same position.

Fang Chen suppressed his urge to cry. He thought about Huo Yao’s profound medical skills and looked at her. “Is there really no hope for my teacher?”

Huo Yao placed her hand on the chair armrest as she pondered intently. Moments later, she raised her head. “There is a cure.”

The moment she finished her sentence, Fang Chen opened his eyes wide in astonishment. “Is… is there a cure?”

Huo Yao nodded and confirmed. “That’s right.”

Li Fang was stunned. He looked at Huo Yao in surprise. He did not mean to doubt her medical skills, but he knew that his condition was genuinely hopeless.

Even the chairman of the Apothecaries’ Association was unable to treat him.

Li Fang parted his lips and wanted to speak, but he changed his mind when he saw the hope in Fang Chen’s eyes.

“I need to test Mr. Li’s blood sample.” Huo Yao contemplated before she looked at Li Fang and spoke.

“That is no problem at all.” Fang Chen knew she was a Biology student, so he promptly agreed to her request on behalf of his teacher.

“Uh huh. Also, I need some Chinese herbs,” added Huo Yao.

Fang Chen nodded. “Sure.”

Huo Yao retrieved a pen and paper from her bag and listed the Chinese herbs she needed before long. She handed it to Fang Chen and said, “I have highlighted the ingredients that are particularly rare. You probably won’t be able to find them on the market. You may have better luck buying them from the Apothecaries’ Association.”

She recalled Lei Xiao saying the Apothecaries’ Association had all kinds of Chinese herbs at their disposal when he helped her to get some herbs previously.

Since Fang Chen’s teacher was a senior politician, he should not have a problem purchasing ingredients from the Apothecaries’ Association.

Moreover, Fang Chen was acquainted with the Pei family. Old Mr. Pei’s eldest son was also a member of the Apothecaries’ Association.

Fang Chen put the prescription away carefully. “I will do my best to gather the herbs you need as soon as possible.”

“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yao softly.

Fang Chen’s phone rang.. He took it out and saw it was work, so he promptly stood up to tell them he had to answer the phone before he walked out.
