Monster Paradise Chapter 56: See you again, Xue Luo

Seeing that she regained consciousness, Yi Zheng immediately helped her up.

“Are you alright?”

“What happened? I remember that python’s attack piercing through my stomach, and then I died.”

Yi Yeyu lowered her head and looked at the spot where she had been pierced. There was no signs of her being injured. She rubbed the spot with her hands, a look of disbelief on her face.

However, the bloodstains from her previous wounds were still plain for all to see. This meant she had really been injured by that snake.

“You have to thank Miss Xue Luo! She was the one who saved you!” As Yi Zheng said this, he turned around and expressed his gratitude to her.

“Miss Xue Luo?” Yi Yeyu paused for a moment as she heard this. She did not remember such a person within the hunter ranks. As She turned her focus to Xue Luo, she immediately spotted that familiar jade-like hand.

She stared at that hand for several moments before saying, “I remember your hand, you are the one who pulled me from the darkness. Thank you!”

“There's no need to thank me. Mister Lin Huang was the one who asked me to save you. He is my benefactor.” Xue Luo didn’t feel much aversion to her, and so returned her gratitude with a slight smile.

“Thank you Lin Huang!” Yi Yeyu turned towards him, a look of surprise in her eyes.

“As long as you are fine.” Lin Huang smiled as he nodded.

“Mister, may I have a word with you in private?” Xue Luo whispered to him in a low voice.

“Give me a moment.” Lin Huang gave the siblings a heads up before leaving with Xue Luo.

With a wave of her hand, she brought Lin Huang and Ice King up with her to the top of a giant boulder.

She sat down on the giant boulder and beckoned to Lin Huang. “Mister have a seat.”

He nodded and unabashedly sat down near her.

Ice King silently stood watch behind them as they did so.

As the pair sat down opposite each other, the twin moons silently bore witness to their private meeting. The red and purple moonlight fell upon the giant boulder creating an enchanting scene.

“I take it you are leaving soon after this?” Seeing Xue Luo quietly admire the scenery, he decided to speak up first.

“Yes, it's time to leave.” Xue Luo lightly nodded her head. “I’ve admired this world’s nights for far too long.”

“When do you plan on leaving? I’ll send you off then.” Lin huang hesitated a while but still asked.

“We are leaving directly after this.” This answer came as a surprise to Lin Huang. He could only lightly nod his head in response. He did not know how to continue this conversation.

After a short pause, Xue Luo turned to face Lin Huang; a serious expression on her face. “Mister I have a question, but I'm not sure if it’s appropriate.”

“Ask away, it’s fine. I’ll do my best to answer it.” Lin Huang turned to face her as well. Their eyes met for a moment, but he swiftly looked away.

“Does Mister Lin Huang think that a romance between a human and a deity is wrong?” This question had plagued her for 700 years and she dearly wanted to know the answer.

“There is no right or wrong in love. If you loved a person but it ended badly, this did not mean that that love itself was a bad thing. It only means you met the wrong person. As for love between a deity and a human, as long as it’s true love, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.”

Feeling the conversation taking a serious tone, he decided to change the subject by bringing up the story of Emperor Bei Feng. [1]

“I once read a novel about this fellow called Bei Feng. He loved a multitude of women from a multitude of races and even had children with each of them. This resulted in an explosion of new races…”

This story made Xue Luo pause in shock for a moment as she considered the consequences of Bei Feng’s actions. “Wouldn’t his actions cause an uproar among other people?”

“You are right to assume that, however, if one was determined to do something, why bother about the opinions of others?” Lin Huang laughed as he continued, “ Of course, Bei Feng is just a fictional character. Whether or not there is anyone like him in the real world, I’m not entirely sure.”

“I think I’ve gotten my answer.” Xue Luo finally said after a long pause. Her eyes sparkled as if something heavy had been lifted off her shoulders.

“What are Mister’s plans for the immediate future?”

“I’ll have to register as a Hunter. After which, I’ll find a way to advance into the BlackIron realm. These should keep me occupied for the time being. As for the long term plan, it’s probably to advance to the Transcendent Realm.”

Lin Huang didn’t know how long it would take for him to get to the transcendent realm so planning too far ahead was pointless. After all he barely had any knowledge of this world and so he could only take each step at a time. Only by ensuring each step was done perfectly, would one be able to get far in life.

While the pair sat atop the boulder chatting, a certain person down below had gotten restless from watching them.

“And I thought he was a honest kid too. Looks like I can’t hand my little sister over to him.” Yi Zheng said.

“What did you say?!” Yi Yeyu pinched him forcefully on the arm.

“I’m just telling the truth, why did you pinch me!? That lady is such a beauty and even seems younger than you. Her strength is much higher than you as well; she seems to at least be a transcendent.  If you aren’t careful, she might snatch Lin Huang away from you.” He didn’t know that Xue Luo and Ice King were monsters; he thought they were merely two human transcendents.

“Go kill yourself!” Yi Yeyu was truly peeved at his statements.

Atop the giant boulder, the pair’s conversation had nearly reached its conclusion.

“Once we’ve taken care of matters here, we will be leaving.” She stood up as she said that.

“Which matter are you talking about?” Lin asked as he stood up, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

“I need to remove the memories of me and Ice King from the minds of those present here. The battlefield has to be reshaped as well.” She turned to Lin Huang and continued, “There’s also the matter of them witnessing you kill a million monsters. This memory has to be removed as well for your safety. This matter must not be exposed.”

“While I do not know how you came to possess the power of Heaven’s Wrath, you should only use it in the direst of situations. This is a power that even your human divinities would covet. If you get found out by them, they would stop at nothing to extract this power from you.” As she said this, her face had the gravest expression he had ever seen her make.

“Alright, I understand!”

Lin Huang had no idea that a small extinction card could potentially cause him so much trouble.

“I’m going to start altering their memories.” As she finished saying this, it started snowing.

However before anyone present could ponder why was it snowing, they all fell unconscious.

Ice King made his move as well, suddenly disappearing. A moment later, he reappeared with a youth on his back.

“I’m going to give them a new set of memories to explain this battle. They will think that the human transcendent had arrived in time and killed the monster’s transcendent. After the transcendent died, the rest of the horde left the area as well.”

After explaining her plan to Lin Huang, she turned to Ice King and gave him instructions. “Little Ice, you’ve fought with that fellow before. Reshape the battlefield according to his combat style. As for the traces left by the monster horde, I’ll cover them up with ice.”

As soon as those words left her mouth, a blizzard descended upon the area, engulfing the entire region. Only the three of them were spared from its effects.

While the blizzard raged on, Ice King carried out his mission of falsifying the traces of battle. It was a short task which he swiftly finished before the blizzard ended. A short while later, the battlefield became covered in a layer of ice. As the moonlight from the two moons landed upon this reflective surface, it bounced off giving the entire battlefield an ethereal beauty.

“Mister Lin Huang, it’s time for us to part ways.” Xue Luo turned towards him and gave a smile as she bid him farewell.

As she stood there atop the giant boulder, a mere two metres away from him, he couldn’t help but admire her beauty. With the snowy night as a backdrop, she looked like a graceful snow elf.

He nodded and waved good bye to her as well. “Good bye, Xue Luo.”

“Goodbye, Mister.”

She waved to him once more before taking to the air with Ice King.

When the pair reached a height of a 100 metres above the boulders, they stopped. With a wave of her hand, a Void’s Eye slowly took shape in the air.

A moment later, the Void’s Eye opened revealing a snow white pupil. It looked like a divinity’s eye surveying the vast horizons.

This giant pupil remained until the pair finally crossed over at which point it slowly closed up, their silhouettes finally disappearing from sight.

All this while Lin Huang had been watching the scene silently. It wasn’t until the eye closed that he finally withdrew his gaze and muttered to himself, “Goodbye, Xue Luo…”
