Monster Paradise Chapter 60: Fatty’s Call

Over the next two days, Lin Huang was busy preparing for his hunt. He even spent 100,000 credits to expand his storage space to 100 cubic meters before heading off to 7C87.

The trip to 7C87 took a few hours, after which he spent the night at a hotel.

7C87 was a medium stronghold with a population in the millions. Due to its serial number, 87, it came to be known as Ba Qi City which meant domineering. A fitting name since a medium stronghold like it could be considered a major city on earth. The nickname caught on so well most people forgot its actual name.

Compared to his home stronghold, Crow Woods County, it was definitely bigger. 7D101 had a population ten times less than 7C87.

Ba Qi was naturally a lot more vibrant than Crow Woods County. There was barely any nightlife in Crow Woods County. Snowy Mountain County which was a small stronghold like 7D101 had a vibrant nightlife due to its status as a popular tourist destination. But this pales in comparison to the hustle and bustle of Ba Qi City.

As he stepped into Ba Qi City, he had a sensation of returning to a modern Earth city.

Numerous high rise buildings pierced the heavens covering the streets in a gray blanket. Some of them even had shapes that was impossible to replicate on Earth.

His walk through the concrete jungle took him to a tall hotel with 39 stories. His room was located on the 21st floor.

As he walked into the hotel, he wondered whether this world’s high rises would have a replacement for the elevator. He soon found the answer to his question. They used a flight of floating steps to transport people up and down the floors. As for what was the principle behind these, he did not know and was too embarrassed to ask. He was merely fascinated by them.

After registering for a guest room, he immediately went up to his room. He gave Lin Xin a status update before researching the new notes sent over by Yi Zheng.

When he told Yi Zheng about his decision to hunt the six-armed succubus, Yi Zheng tried to get him to switch targets, but he persisted. Seeing that his persuasion would not work, he decided to send Lin Huang additional information about the succubus.

Every bit of help was welcomed by Lin Huang as the succubus was simply too dangerous. He did not dare to take any chances and made sure to rewatch the battle videos whenever he could. He hoped to glean some hint about her attack pattern and thus formulate a counterplan. However, he came up with nothing.

The six-armed succubus’s attacks could only be described as being cunning, quick and ruthless.

She did not have any fixed attack pattern as her six arms combined their strikes together in a nearly endless combination of skills. Furthermore, each strike was fatal causing Lin Huang to frown even deeper.

Under normal circumstances, the best tactics involved long range attacks to take her down.

However, Lin Huang did not have this luxury. His Gray Eagle 17’s bullets wouldn’t do much against the succubus’ defenses. Even his armor piercing bullets wouldn’t be of much use. As such she was nearly impervious to his long range attacks, therefore, Lin Huang could only rely on his melee attacks.

Furthermore, there were two very strict rules regarding this hunt. The first was that the person undergoing the Prana baptism had to be the one who killed the monster. The second was that any human companion brought by that person had to be of the same combat rank as him, or else the Prana would dissipate causing the Life Seed to disappear.

This second rule had initially caused him a severe headache as his chances of killing the succubus without his familiars were extremely low.

However as he went through some videos of Beastmasters hunting for their Life Seed, he found out minions weren’t restricted by this second rule. This was because monsters like Shirou and Tyrant weren’t considered humans so even if their combat rank exceeded the limit, the Prana and Life Seed would not dissipate.

However, they were still bound by the first rule; where Lin Huang had to be one who killed the succubus in order for the baptism to happen.

“Sigh...After going through so many videos, there’s still no hints as to what her weaknesses are. My only remaining choice is to use Shirou’s Blood Arts to bind the succubus and then kill it myself.” This brute force method was one that Lin Huang did not initially plan on using.

Having sorted through the information, he was ready to take a break and have dinner. However just as he made plans for tonight’s entertainment, his imperial heart ring vibrated.

As he opened the call ui, the name Yin Hang Yi flashed across the screen. His eyebrows jumped at the name, but after short deliberation he accepted the call.

“Lin Huang, you’re still alive and well I See!” Fatty Yin’s beaming face entered his sight as the video call connected.

“That should be my line. Back then, I told you to stay put but when I got back, you were gone without a trace.” Lin Huang replied with a sigh.

“That’s because I tried to help you! Such an ingrate!“ Fatty Yin scolded him in a joking tone. “If the Demoness didn't tell me you were still alive I would have still been in the dark about your condition. She even told me she gave you my number, why didn't you call me!?”

“Two reasons: one, I was busy and two, I forgot…” he decided to tell him the truth. While it was true he forgot to do so, it wasn’t entirely his fault. He had intended to call the fatty but the issue of the monster horde suddenly popped up, and after that he completely forgot about.

“Such a heartless guy. To think I worried about you everyday! I even got a tombstone for you and had the offerings ready…”

“Screw off!” He didn’t wait for Fatty Yin to finish his words before interrupting him.

“Alright, alright. Back to business then.” Fatty Yin finally remembered what he called Lin Huang for.” That…I heard from the demoness that you've chosen the six-armed succubus as your life seed target, and was planning to head to the Forgotten Woods in two days.”

“There is such a matter. What's wrong?” Lin Huang admitted to it readily.

“Are you sure you wish to hunt the six-armed succubus? She’s one of the elites within the BlackIron realm. Even BlueCopper hunters have trouble with her.” Judging from his tone, Fatty Yin came prepared for this conversation.

“I'm aware of that. I've watched the battle videos multiple times. Like you said, she is a tough opponent, but I have a plan to deal with her.”

“Well, if you say you have a plan then I guess it's fine.”

Lin Huang immediately sensed something strange about the fatty and asked, “Fatty what’s with your weird tone? Is there anything wrong?”

“Oh it’s nothing, the demoness trusted me to persuade you not to go, but since you are confident, it should be fine.” Fatty Yin confessed without much resistance.

“She has my number. Why doesn't she just call me?” He was slightly puzzled by her actions.

“She said that her brother had failed to persuade you, so she thought that even if she tried it wouldn't work. So she got me to do this.” as he finished explaining he added a question of his own, “Your relationship seems to be rapidly developing, you've probably seen her parents already, haven't you?”

“Screw off, I'm hanging up.”

“Hold on, don't hang up on me yet. Tell me who her brother is...”

Lin Huang ended the conversation midway by hanging up. He couldn’t be bothered with fatty’s
