Leila had never dreamed that someone would try to kill her.
After all, she was pretending to be Huo Mian, the princess and fairy cherished by Qin Chu, loved by Su Yu and protected by her friends.
But still, someone tried to kill her.
Lately, she went out almost every day. This morning, she planned to go to a hospital and see if someone could make false stretch marks on her belly, so she could fool Qin Chu.
The cross near the First Hospital had lots of cars and people; she was crossing the street during the green light when a racecar shot toward her.
The car was so fast that she was a bit stunned.
In fact, with Leila’s abilities, she could even dodge a bomb, not to mention the car.
But she was at a crosswalk with many witnesses and cameras; if she did something that no human could do, she’d expose her identity.
She’d have difficulty explaining her supernatural abilities.
But she couldn’t let the car kill her, either. So, she could only respond with an ordinary human’s abilities, and the result was that she was run over by the racecar.
Instantly, stinging pain spread all over her body…
Then, an ambulance and police came and delivered her to the First Hospital.
When Qin Chu arrived, she had just been pushed out of the emergency room.
In front of her, Qin Chu pretended to look anxious.
“Doctor, how is my wife?”
“Don’t worry. President Qin, the Vice Director is not seriously wounded but it’s painful to have three ribs broken. She needs to stay in the hospital for some days.”
“Good. I’m relieved that she’s fine.”
Qin Chu looked down at Huo Mian and said, “Why were you so careless? I was scared.”
“I was careful. I was crossing the street at the green light, but that race car ran me over. Hon, you must avenge me… Wu…”
“Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
He soothed her for a while and watched her being pushed into a ward.
Then a smile appeared on his lips.
“If you lay a finger on my daughter again, you won’t end up so well…”
In fact, he did this to Leila mostly to avenge Pudding, whose little face had been scratched by Leila.
By doing this, Qin Chu also wanted to see what abilities Leila had and how she would respond to the crash in the public place.
He had watched the car crash video many times.
Finally, he got the conclusion that Huo Mian’s dodging speed and reflexes were times faster than an ordinary person; they went beyond the abilities of a human being.
He began to understand why she could dodge the big explosion so easily.
However, he had chosen a busy street to do the hit-and-run, so she didn’t dare to use all her supernatural power.
If it happened in a remote place during the night, Qin Chu was sure the racecar wouldn’t even touch her clothes.

Walking out of the hospital, Qin Chu looked up at the starry sky.
“Mian… You’re waiting for me, right? You must be somewhere in the world, waiting for me to take you home.”
As he thought of his wife Huo Mian, he had tears in his eyes.
The days without Huo Mian were worse than death for him.
The most torturous thing was that he couldn’t let anyone find out that the real Huo Mian had disappeared.
As usual, this man shouldered all the pain and bitterness by himself…
