Chapter 6 Trap, Capturing a soul pet

Covered in blood, Chu Mu dare not be rash. After all, there are many soul pets with a sensitive sense of smell, such as the terrifying and cruel Hunting Wolf.

The Hunting Wolf’s grade is high, even higher than the Mandy monster. If anyone can capture one, even if its quality is only average, and train it to at least stage 7, he will certainly be able to get top ten.

As for the low grade Thorn Demon, even when reaching stage 9, will find it difficult to match a stage 7 high grade soul pet like the Hunting Wolf.

Chu Mu found a secluded place and rested for a day, tending to his wounds.

By the third day, Chu Mu has reached the innermost part of the island. Carefully, he proceeded step by step, as any soul pet he might encounter here is much more terrifying than the Hunting Wolves of the enforcers. If he is able to capture one, he’ll be undefeatable……

However, these soul pets’ cruelty is unmatched, forget about capturing, Chu Mu dare not even go near them.

“Twin Headed Snake, Glannis, Flametail, Ten Legged Centipede, Monkey Demon……sigh, can’t touch any of them, they’re all above stage 7……”

Hiding in the trees and looking at the soul pets that walked past today, Chu Mu laughed bitterly. Most of these are medium and high grade soul pets, but Chu Mu can only watch, while holding the rope to activate his trap.

Traps are Chu Mu’s only way to deal with the soul pets that are a lot stronger than himself.

But the trap he dug is only effective towards soul pets that are stage 3 and below. The previous soul pets are all at stage 7 or higher, and are almost as strong as the Hunting Wolves. Chu Mu’s shabby trap definitely cannot deal with these ferocious beasts.

Patience, what Chu Mu needs is tremendous patience…….

“Strange, why is such a weak little guy loitering here?”

Suddenly, a small and weak soul pet appeared in Chu Mu’s sight. From his judgement, it is only at stage 1.

This little guy has beautiful reddish brown fur, a beautiful fox tail, and a petite body. This fox cub was apparently attracted by the food Chu Mu left on the trap, and seems to have been injured. Trembling, it carefully picked up the food on the trap.

“Reddish brown fur, it should be a Red Cloud Fox……a silver crescent mark on its forehead…….weird, isn’t that only found on the Silver Moon fox……is this little guy a mixed blood?” muttered Chu Mu.

Chu Mu did not activate the trap. Even though this little guy is at a low stage and can be captured, its grade is also low. Both the Red Cloud Fox and Silver Moon fox are low grade soul pets.

These types of soul pets are not classified as battle soul pets. In the cities, they are mostly pets which girls hug to sleep.

Chu Mu waited for the little mixed blood to leave with his food before replacing the food on the rope, and continued to wait……

Despite three days of waiting on the tree, Chu Mu did not find a satisfactory soul pet.

Early morning, as Chu Mu gnawed at his rations, he decided to leave if he cannot find a satisfactory soul pet by noon, and risk moving into deeper parts.

“Sha sha”

Suddenly, the soft sound of leaves reached Chu Mu’s ears.

The tree Chu Mu is on is the Long Leaf Tree. In fact, some soul pets like to nest here, such as the Monkey Demon Chu Mu encountered earlier.

Aside from the Monkey Demon, there is also the Blue Bird and Wind Spirit Butterfly.

The Monkey Demon is around high grade, along with the Blue Bird. The Wind Spirit Butterfly however, is the strongest of them and belong to an even higher grade.

Chu Mu’s minimum requirement is high grade. As for quality, that will depend on his luck. If he can obtain a Blue Bird or Wind Spirit Butterfly here, he’ll be able to head back to camp and begin its training.

There’s an important reason why Chu Mu decided to climb onto the Long Leaf Tree. The Monkey Demon, Blue Bird, and Wind Spirit Butterfly which nests on these trees do not attack humans when unprovoked, which makes it relatively safer.

Thus, when Chu Mu heard the sound, he was not alarmed, but instead happy. This might be one of the three soul pets.

Brushing away the leaves, Chu Mu looked towards the origin of the sound.

What Chu Mu saw was not the muscular Monkey Demon, or the handsome Blue Bird, and definitely not the beautiful Wind Spirit Butterfly. What he say was a disappointing small, blue worm……

The worm is tiny, only as long as Chu Mu’s palm, and as thick as his thumb, with a pair of shiny black eyes.

At this moment, this shiny black eyed little worm raised its body, looking at the rations in Chu Mu’s hand with puppy eyes……

“……” Chu Mu is speechless. He laughed bitterly, broke off a small piece of ration, and fed it to the pitiful worm, saying “Here, hope you can bring me good luck.”

This little blue worm cannot be even considered a soul pet, letting down Chu Mu’s expectations.

The little worm was fearless, and taking the piece of ration, started eating happily next to Chu Mu.

The little worm ate quickly, making a nice “sha sha sha” sound. Upon finishing, it raised its body, and looked at Chu Mu with puppy eyes again.

Chu Mu did not mind for this bit of ration, and in his boredom he fed it again. The little worm let out a happy sound, and quickly ate.

“Yi!!!!!!”

Suddenly, an unusual strong gust of wind swept past, shaking the tree, and causing green leaves to scatter everywhere.

Surprised, Chu Mu looked past the leaves, and found a blue feathered soul pet slightly larger than an eagle circling the tree!

“Blue Bird!!” Chu Mu’s heart was filled with delight!

The Blue Bird belongs to the Demon Best circle, Flying type soul pet. Its wing advantage and its ability to control the wind let few rival it within the same stage and grade!

If he can capture this agile, flying, wind element soul pet, after three months of training, if it reaches stage 7, he can definitely get first place!

“Sha sha sha”

The little worm felt the presence of the Blue Bird, and trembled with fear. It crawled quickly up Chu Mu’s arm onto his shoulder, and hid in his collar.

“Damn, this guy is at least stage 4. High grade, stage 4……” Chu Mu said regretfully while looking at the strong gale caused by the charming figure,

The trap Chu Mu dug is meant to deal with soul pets on the ground, and it’s very unlikely to capture the Blue bird.

“No matter, I have to give it a try!” Chu Mu did not want to give up this opportunity, and brushing aside the leaves, he climbed to the top of the tree.

Standing on a strong branch, Chu Mu clenched his knife tightly with both hands. Taking a deep breath, he faced the cold, strong gale, staring at the figure circling the Long Leaf Tree, Blue Bird!
