“Alioth star lord,” Lu Mingshu side eyed him. “Let me remind you that you were in control of his body at that moment.”
But instead of being embarrassed, Xie Lianzhen rolled his eyes in annoyance. “If he was more useful I wouldn’t need to control him, right?” He stared into Lu Mingshu’s eyes and sulked. “Why are you always on his side? I’m so hurt.”
“Your heart should be big enough to accept this.”
Since using words against Lu Mingshu was ineffective, Xie Lianzhen changed to using feelings. “Heartless.”
“Hmmph!”
Seeing that the other party was impervious to his swords and spears, Xie Lianzhen returned in low spirits and sulked.
Lu Mingshu took out a handkerchief, and an unknown bead that had been shattered into many pieces fell to the ground. “What is this.”
“Mystic dewdrop.”
At the last moment, Xie Lianzhen’s starlight shield had shattered, and Lu Mingshu activated her mystic dewdrop to use the pond water as protection to block the emperor’s attack.
Mystic dewdrops and items from the seafloor, generally only appeared once in a thousand years. Such rare treasure was extremely precious and valuable, moreover, it was a string! This was the only other valuable item that Lu Mingshu had besides her heavenly wheel.
“Stop looking at it like you’re going to cry. It’s already used up.” Xie Lianzhen cut her train of thought. “If you like it so much I’ll give you another string of beads when we get back.”
“It’s a gift from the queen.” Lu Mingshu stared at him coldly.
“It’s just a bead of crystals.” Xie Lianzhen shrugged. “The Queen would say that it’s worth our lives.”
“…”
Not wanting to talk to him anymore, Lu Mingshu kept her items and called little boo oevr. “Little boo.”
“Yeah?”
“Let’s go for a walk.”
“Ka, okay.”
“Hey!” Xie Lianzhen shouted after her. “Are you going to leave me here alone?”
The only response were footsteps that were gradually getting further away from him.
“I am afraid of the dark!”
“Afraid…..dark…..” He could hear his own voice echo.
“Why the hell is she treating me worse compared to that idiot!” Xie Lianzhen mumbled. “Am I that hateful?”
…
“Little boo, have you explored this place?” Lu Mingshu asked as she walked.
“Yes, master.” Little boo’s legs might be short, but he walked at a fast speed.
“Where’s the exit?”
“Ka.” Little boo’s eyes blink. “There.”
“Is this where you went to get water?”
“Yeah.”
“No other exit?”
“No.”
Lu Mingshu reached out her hand to feel the cave walls. The stone was extremely solid and hard to break. The small crack where little boo went out to fetch water was only about a one meter cube. Even though she was small, even Lu Mingshu could not squeeze through, let alone Xie Lianzhen.
~Well, it seems like we will be staying here for some time~
Little Boo’s eyes turned, light flashing on the objects in front of it.
“Hold on.” Lu Mingshu stopped it.
“Ka.”
“Come over here, little boo.”
Little boo followed suit and went towards a wall with a small crack.
Lu Mingshu pointed at the crack and examined it for a moment before looking over at Little Boo. “Can you get in?”
Little boo reached out its bronze arm and transformed it into a thin and long rope-like arm. It put its arm into the crack and after a while, its eyes blinked profusely. “There is a lot of mystic force energy. A lot.” It replied excitedly.
A lot of mystic force, which meant that it’s a special geographical position, and they have hit a jackpot.
“But I can’t open it.” Little Boo said. “Too hard.”
Lu Mingshu crouched down to observe the surroundings.
Little Boo stood at her side and waited. After a moment, it called Lu Mingshu as it had never received any command. “Master?”
“Shh!” Lu Mingshu pointed her index finger, signalling for it to keep quiet.
Little boo stood quietly at her side, providing light for her.
After some time, Lu Mingshu felt dizzy and her eyes dimmed. After all, she had been seriously injured, she needed time to heal and regain her strength even if she had received basic treatment from the heavenly wheel.
She stood up and massaged her throbbing temple. Lu Mingshu shut her eyes and leaned against the wall to rest. After some time, she felt better and continued to examine the crevice.
This continued for half a day before Lu Mingshu felt that beat and could no longer continue anymore.
“Little boo, let’s head back.”
“Ka, okay.”
Lu Mingshu and little boo slowly walked back to where they came from, and she saw Xie Lianzhen sitting crossed legged on the floor, resting.
The dark blue coloured Daoist gown made Xie Lianzhen look like an upright man who cared about his appearance, and the golden embroidery added an elegant touch. Paired with his black hair which was tied up with a jade hair pin that seemed to enhance his beauty.
Even though she had seen him many times, this was the first time Lu Mingshu had seen him alone in the dark. Yet, she still felt that his beauty was unparalleled.
It was a weird feeling. They were the same person, having the same body. But Yan Wugui and Xie Lianzhen gave out different vibes, and Yan Wugui’s distinctive feature was definitely not his beauty.
As Lu Mingshu was deep in thought, Xie Lianzhen noticed her presence. He opened his eyes and smiled sweetly. “You’re back.”
This smile would melt anybody that saw it, and the low and gentle voice soothed one’s ears….
“If you play any weird tricks, I’ll throw you out!” Lu Mingshu snapped.
The smile fell from his face and Xie Lianzhen whined. “Ruthless indeed….”
“Hmmpf!”
~Whining doesn’t work, honey trap doesn’t work either, is she heartless?!~
Lu Mingshu sat down at a corner and leaned against the wall, as if in pain. Xie Lianzhen immediately stopped his nonsense and went over to her. “What’s wrong? You seem weaker.”
But Lu Mingshu was so tired that she did not even have the energy to talk. She waved her hands and mumbled. “Leave me alone….”
With that, she fell asleep.
Xie Lianzhen stared at her intensely and was unaware of the time that had passed. He only got his spirit back when a cold wind blew in.
“How can you sleep in such a cold place?”
He rummaged through his mustard seed pouch and finally found a blanket after some time and laid it down on the floor.
“Wake up, it’s too cold. Let’s go somewhere else.”
Lu Mingshu did not respond. Her injury was only slightly less severe than his was, and the basic treatment could only heal injuries on the surface, which was only enough to stop it from bleeding and worsening. It still hurt and needed more time and medicine to recuperate. She was already weak, yet she exhausted herself further during the exploration and she was now both mentally and physically exhausted.
Xie Lianzhen sighed and wrapped his arm around her body and lifted her up.
With much effort, Xie Lianzhen managed to carry her elsewhere, but it seemed to affect the injury on his back. He gasped in surprise and tried to steady himself. After a moment, he then placed her on the blanket slowly and covered her with some spare clothes.
“I wish I could look at this forever…..” He stared at her for a moment with heart-shaped eyes for a moment,
Lu Mingshu woke up upon smelling some food.
She opened her eyes and blinked.
~Where am I? Why is the place so dark and what smells so good….~
She suddenly got up to realize that Xie Lianzhen was lighting a fire at her side and even commanding little boo while doing so. “The fire is too big, lower it down slightly.”
And the temporary boiler was obviously little boo. It gave a short reply and did as it was told.
“Yeah, just like this, and boil it a bit longer.”
He turned back to see that Lu Mingshu was already awake, and smiled warmly. “You’re awake? Come over, wash your hands and we can eat soon.”
She wasn’t sure where he got a wet handkerchief from, but he passed her one. “Such a pity we can’t go out, so just bear with this first. Haish, we need to find a way out soon, or we would be star smelling….”
Lu Mingshu blinked her eyes profusely. ~Is he Xie Lianzhen, or Yan Wugui?~
