356. Confirming Current Fighting Strength

The next morning, I wake up inside my den.

Alo, who’s sitting on my head, notices I’m awake and jumps off.

I exit my den to greet the morning sun and meet Nightmare in her nest made of spider webs above the den’s entrance.

Nightmare crawls from her nest to the Great Tree’s trunk and down to us.

I look down from the Great Tree’s branch.

Many different monsters are seen flying around the Great Tree.

There’s a monster with the head of an eagle and the body of a lion…… a griffon, perhaps?

It looks pretty strong. Fortunately, even though it already noticed me, it isn’t coming after us.

The griffon aside, I look further down…… to the roots of the Great Tree.

…… The entrance of underground ruins that has characters of my former world engraved in it.

If I go there, I might find some clues about my past life.

I don’t have my past memories, so I don’t really feel like going back to my old world.

Right now, I care more about Alo and my present team than those who I can’t even remember.

In fact, since I don’t even feel any sort of attachment to my old life at all, we don’t really need to risk our lives to find out the truth about my memories.

Even so, it doesn’t mean I don’t care what my role is after being brought to this world.

If the truth is presented right in front of me, then it’s natural that I’d want to know more.

Looking beside me, Alo was just watching me before turning and looking down at the ground below.

Then, Treant walks out of the den with a branch on his mouth, as if gesturing a yawn.

…… Such a carefree tree we have here.

Anyway, Alo and the others should have leveled up a bunch after that struggling fight with the Sirens.

Alo has risen up from Lv 1 to an astounding Lv 14.

13 levels at once, wow.

All that magic she kept spamming in the fight, along with her helpful support, were all worth it for this big reward, despite being Lv 1 that time.

At this rate, she could just hit max in no time.

If she leveled up a bit more, she’d be on par with the Giant Centipede or even Mother.

Up until now, Alo has been relying on me whenever we try to power-level her, along with the others, but now, she’s steadily catching up to me despite our one rank gap.

Alo’s accomplishments thus far has proven that even the high-power magic types can take on any opponent, no matter how strong, so long as their MP is kept replenished.

If she levels up some more, I bet she can pump up an even stronger magic attack than mine.

When that happens, Alo will be the key to breaking past the Adams in the ruins.

Man, who would’ve thought the little skeleton, who I experimented a new skill on, would turn out this strong in such a short time.

Nightmare went up by 4 levels.

Even though both of them worked hard, it looks like Alo received more level up bonus. Probably because Alo’s level was in the single digits that she leveled up so fast.

Or, maybe it’s because Alo had more contributions.

Well, gaining 4 levels in one battle is still a feat on its own.

As for me, even though I have bothThe Walking EggandSon of the Dragon Kingto help me gain exp points quicker, I barely leveled up, despite being the main fighter of the group.

Oh well, let’s check Treant’s stats next……

…… From Lv 1 to Lv 5.

T-That’s weird. I expected it to be higher since he’s in his single digits too, but…… strangely enough, I’m not surprised at all……

Gra~a”

Isn’t it coz he kept gettin confused and almost shot us with magic?”

Partner glares at Treant while talking badly of him to me.

T-Treant’s trying his best too! In his own way!

And besides, we’re not taking a Lv 1 to a dangerous dungeon adventure.

Since he’s not Lv 1, he can come too.

“…… If that wasnt enough to level ‘im up, even fighting a worm wont be enough to level ‘im up. Lets hope he doesnt hold us back by doing nothing……”

W-What was that?!

You can’t talk about Treant that way!

I turn to look at Treant, who’s been watching us bicker over his low level again.

S-Sorry…… that you had to…… see that. We’re still looking forward to your exploits! But, y’know, since you’re still low-leveled and all, we’ll just have you remain in the backseat during the fight for now!

According to God’s Voice,Magical Treemakes use of their sturdy body, combined with weakening magic that weakens the attacker, to withstand any attack, to the point that adventurers struggle to bring it down for half a day, but sadly, that tactic won’t work against Adams.

They’re Rank A monsters to the very end.

To withstand even a single one of their ridiculously high attack, you need to have a bare minimum of at least 700 HP or it won’t even be a fight.

While yes, support skills are a thing, but for a C+ like Treant, I’m not sure it can do much.

Even if he were at max level, one kick from Adam and it’s over.

Maybe if he usedAnti-Powerto lower Adam’s attack, andPhysical Barrierto increase his own defense, he could potentially take the hit, but that’s still way too risky.

So to sum it all up, he can’t let the enemy hit him.

He can’t move trickily like Nightmare does.

Realistically speaking, right now, Treant is just an inferior version of Alo who can only use low-powered magic attacks.

I currently have 2586 HP. Unlike Treant, my defense is high enough to take multiple hits from Adam, and I also have self-healing skills to boot.

I basically took Treant’s role of being the punching bag, even though he evolved into a species literally designed as one.

I’m a dragon with high endurance too, so our tank roles got overlapped……

…… Uh, what do you want to do now, Treant?

It…… it’s not that I’m trying to kick you out of the team, I’m just saying that you don’t have to come with us if you don’t want to…… especially since we’re going to encounter even more danger from here onwards……

“…………”

Treant, without doubt or hesitation, walks beside me and looks down at the base of the Great Tree, where the entrance of the ruins is.

Determination sure does make a strong character.

I know you’re more than willing enough to fight by my side, but…… you don’t have to push yourself too hard.
