563 – Eight Consecutive Attacks
Keeping her distance, Lilixira spreads her wings and flies around me. Four new discs of light appear in her arms. More [Aprajita] chakrams.

Calm down. I can dodge them. Though it’ll reduce my power and endurance, I’ll stay in my small baby dragon form!

I use [Dragon Mirror] to make my wings larger. Pushing down on the air with my wings, I shoot towards Lilixira.

If I fall back, I’ll be attacked unilaterally. I’ve no choice but to accept some disadvantages while I keep pressing the attack.

Lilixira flies away from me, maintaining her distance. While moving, she raises her four arms.

She releases all four [Aparajita] chakrams at the same time. Has she stopped throwing them two at a time? She might be feeling panicked now that I’ve found a way to deal with them.

The space around Lilixira distorts. She’s using [Immortal Step] to tamper with the space in front of them. The four chakrams fly irregularly towards me.

『…No finesse at all.』

I mutter, annoyed. She really won’t give up her advantage. Even when she’s forced to retreat, she won’t stop doing her best to keep me from attacking. There aren’t many who could pull this off.

But, this also gives me more opportunities to grow accustomed to her attacks, letting me better predict her in the future. Of course, she’s probably factored that in, but she has no choice but to keep pressing her advantage while she can.

Suddenly, I feel a sense of alarm. The four [Aprajita] Chakrams freeze in midair.

…Did she stretch space with [Immortal Step]? The skill explanation only mentioned shrinking space for instantaneous movement, but if she can shrink space freely then it wouldn’t be strange to think she can stretch it too.

But, the problem remains of why she would stop all the chakrams. The delay should only be counterproductive for her…

New discs of light appear in each of her arms. No way, is she going to throw them too!? Knowing I now have a way of surviving a long battle, she’s hurrying to end it.

『Cheh!』

I use [Dragon Mirror] to make my arm huge. This should make up for the drop in strength a little.

I swing my arm, releasing a [Dimension Claw] towards Lilixira. Stepping back with [Immortal Step] to dodge, she throws the four chakrams.

All eight chakrams fly towards me from different directions. Should I teleport away with [Wormhole], or vanish with [Dragon Mirror]? No, both would leave me too exposed. [Wormhole] marks the destination, and [Dragon Mirror] would force me to reappear at the same position. Lilixira has already seen both of them, so they’re way too dangerous.

It’s all or nothing, then. I use the [Mirror Counter] skill to create a wall of light in front of me.

This skill can repel magical projectiles and diffuse attacks, but… It probably won’t work great against weapons of magic. It’ll probably be shattered easily. But, the wall of light will still help.

I scan my surroundings, checking the location of all eight of the [Aprajitas]. But, as each of their positions are fluctuating wildly due to [Immortal Step], it’s impossible for me to process all the information fast enough.

Flying up, I release [Gravity]. The black light spreads out from me. This should hopefully deflect the incoming chakrams down.

One of the chakrams skims below me at high speed. Just as I realise how close it came, my [Mirror Counter] shatters. Raising my output of [Gravity] to the maximum, I fly up.

I feel my legs burning. The chakrams grazed my foot. But, it’s a cheap price for survival.

The chakrams sporadically collide with the cliff, creating landslides one after the other. I was somehow able to dodge all eight [Aparajitas].

“…I didn’t think you would be able to adapt to my [Aparajita] so fast.”

Lilixira murmurs as she flies away. The [Holy Naga] is at its strongest when it can attack one-sidedly at medium range while using recovery skills to slowly wear its opponent down. If I let her get away now, I’ll gradually fall behind. I need to catch her again and end it in one combo.

She already has me beat in terms of pure speed, so with her [Immortal Step] too, I doubt I’ll ever be able to catch her if I chase her normally.

Then, I’ll do this! Sucking in my breath, I undo [Dragon Mirror] to return to my oneiros form, then exhale with [Plague Breath]. The entire bottom of the cliff becomes covered in poisonous fumes.

“A smokescreen… As if you could take the offensive…”

She’s probably thinking of how the last time I blocked her vision to mask my approach, I chose to use [Scorching Breath]. Even if I were to try and throw her off with [Scorching Breath] again, she’d see through it. That’s why I’m using [Plague Breath]. The area it covers is wider, and it doesn’t cost as much MP.

Lilixira picks up speed, moving to escape the [Plague Breath]. She doesn’t want to fight while her vision is blocked. Unlike the last time, when she tried to use my plan against me, she’s staying cautious. She’s probably thinking that she should escape from an area with to many unknowns at play to one where she can continue to attack unilaterally.

I was counting on her reacting that way. I can’t catch up simply by chasing her. Even if I was able to get close and block her vision, she could track my presence, so catching her by surprise is near impossible. Trying to hit her thin body with [Dimension Claw] while my own vision is blocked is unlikely to work, too. From her point of view, her best plan should be to escape from my [Plague Breath] while being prepared to use [Immortal Step] if she senses me using [Dimension Claw].

That’s exactly why I’m able to take her by surprise.

『You aren’t getting away!』

Having teleported next to her with [Wormhole], I immediately swing my arm into her, slamming her against the cliff wall.

As long as [Plague Breath] can provide cover, it’s not impossible to hide the destination of [Wormhole]. The black light signifying my teleport destination is lost in the dark fumes of [Plague Breath]. Lilixira might have noticed if she tried to counterattack, but there was no way she would notice it behind her while she’s fleeing.

I can’t keep taking risks. I’ll kill her now.

Black flames burst from the cliff wall. It’s my [Hellgate] skill.
