591 – [Big Bang]
I regain my posture in midair and face away from the origin matter. I’ll run from it once more while I still can, seeing as the [Black Hole] has stopped. Should it decide to activate [Black Hole] again, I’ll just stack damage by releasing [Dimension Claws] and escape using that.

『Ah, master-dono… is everything alright?』

I hear treant speaking up using [Telepathy]. Not only is the inside of my mouth pitch-black, but we were pulled in random directions by [Black Hole], so he’s probably feeling anxious. However, I unfortunately don’t have the leeway to reply at the moment.

I keep the origin matter in view as I fly away, scanning for any warning signs. It’ll probably try to draw us in again with [Black Hole] or start spamming more [Dark Rays].

Yet, the origin matter merely stays motionless. The whirlpool patterns on its surface start to twist and turn in distorted motions. More and more of the patterns begin to give off colourful light, and the main body itself begins to glow brighter.

It’s planning to use some other skill! I’m confident I can get through either [Black Hole] or [Dark Ray]. The origin matter has probably judged that I’m not going to take a serious wound from those two skills, either.

…There’s only one skill left that isn’t known to me.

【Normal Skill [Big Bang]】
【A spell that creates a great explosion of extreme heat with the user’s body as its centre.】

It’s… not a self-destruct skill, it seems. At most it just creates an explosion with the user as the centre.

However, the origin matter shouldn’t escape unscathed if it pulls such a thing. Wait, no… it has the terrific resistance skills [Fire Attribute Nullification], [Water Attribute Nullification], and [Earth Attribute Nullification]. It might be able to defend against [Big Bang’s] self-destruct damage thanks to [Fire Attribute Nullification].

I want to escape outside its effect radius by simply flying away, but the origin matter choosing to activate [Big Bang] over [Dark Ray] at this timing probably means that I won’t be able to get away. If I don’t think up some way to break through, I’ll end up being blown away together with Aro and the treant.

S-Should I use [Wormhole] and teleport…? No, that’s pointless. Calm down Irushia, [Wormhole] alone is pointless. It’s a shitty skill. It’s not good to depend on [Wormhole]-san alone. The range is short, and the activation time is long, so simply flying away normally is leagues better.

Teleportation is a bad idea, but if I erase my existence with [Dragon Mirror], I should be able to escape from the [Big Bang]. Using [Dragon Mirror] to vanish from existence takes an excessive amount of MP if I maintain it for long, so it’s something I can’t use as and when I like. In addition, I’m completely defenceless the moment I restore my existence. However, it’s a useful method to withstand powerful techniques.

…However, I can’t use that now. If I did, I’d end up abandoning Aro and treant in midair, and they’d fall victim to [Big Bang]. I must find some other way out of this.

With both [Wormhole] and [Dragon Mirror] not options, I need to give up on complete evasion. I have no choice but to lighten the damage I’ll take, even if it’s just a little.

I use [Ideal Weapon]. Glowing blue and violet, my body becomes shrouded in a dense armour… Even this will probably only make a slight difference, but it’s definitely better than nothing.

【[Oneiros Armour]: Value L (Legendary)】
【[Defence: +190]】
【A large armour gleaming a faint blue and violet.】
【It is made using the scales of the [Dream Dragon] said to rule the world of dreams.】
【In addition to having high resistances to various attribute skills, illusion skills are completely ineffective against the bearer of this armour.】

With the armour equipped, I deploy a [Mirror Counter] barrier of light behind me… With this, I’ve done everything I can. If it can pierce through this much, then it was hopeless from the start.

The origin matter becomes enveloped in rainbow colours, and the light intensifies. In the next moment, a great explosion bursts from its centre. I tuck myself into a ball, and cover my twin [Ouroboros] heads with my limbs.

My vision is engulfed in flames from the explosion. This shitty area attack…! This has to be cheating!

My body is kicked far forwards as it receives a powerful attack and extreme heat at the same time. Cracks run through the [Oneiros Armour] clinging to my body, and it crumbles away, returning to motes of magic light.

My vision is cut off, perhaps due to my eyes being roasted away. I can feel my consciousness fading in the midst of intense pain.

“Dragon-god-sama!”
『Master-dono!』

Aro and the treant’s cries snap me back to reality. G-good, we’ve gotten through without incident…not! I need to find my balance again, and quickly!

It’d be the worst if I got hit while in this state. I begin healing my ragged and burnt body surface with [Autoregeneration]. My crumbled wings restored, I spread them wide. Carried by the violent winds of the [Big Bang], my flight speed increases.

I glare at the origin matter behind me. I’ve considerably opened up the distance, but even so, it still hasn’t given up the chase. It’s pursuing while spamming [Dark Rays].

I continue to escape while diving sharply. The sudden motion should help shake off the origin matter’s aim, but that’s not all I have in mind.

Once I get close to the ground I tuck myself into a ball, and then use [Roll] to begin speeding away the moment I land. In the end, rather than moving normally, this is the fastest!

Avoiding the giant trees while occasionally breaking through and tramping over them, I keep moving away from the origin matter. Soon enough, the [Dark Rays] cease. Looking back, I see it has returned skywards. [Dark Ray] has a low cost contrary for its performance, but even the origin matter doesn’t have leeway to continue firing it at an enemy without landing any. It probably decided that it was a waste of MP to keep it up.

I cancel [Roll] a short while later. I would have liked to continue rolling a little longer, to be certain that we’ve completely gotten clear, but I’m worried that we’ll be discovered by other monsters if we run about in this Forest of Ngai for too long.

I glare at the mass of black light floating in the distant sky. If I don’t become able to defeat it, there’s no way I’ll be able to stand a chance against the [Spirit Servants] of God’s Voice, even if I return to my previous world… So, sit there and wait. I’ll raise my levels before leaving here, and come back sometime to properly set you free from this Forest of Ngai.
