As she cast the El Minya spell, one of the seven crystals in her pocket broke. She was able to use five more, as she wanted to use the sixth one for some crucial matter after the battle for Priestella was over. That was all her mana at the moment.

Beatrice was artificially created by the witch Echidna. She received powerful powers from her mother, but had to deal with a few annoying problems.

Right now, the biggest one was drawing mana. Ordinary spirits had the ability to draw it from the air or from any person. Beatrice could only use the mana of her spellcaster, Subaru, and that wasn't enough for her.

She had already used up the energy she had gathered over the year in her first duel with Wrath, before the war over Priestella had even begun. She was angry at herself for allowing such a situation to happen, though after all, she had to somehow save Subaru and the townspeople who were unlucky enough to be in that square. Now, on the other hand, the crystals allowed her to stand up to Gluttony.

- I got seven magic stones. I've already used one. I have five more.

- Magic stones? You're not talking about the ones that... - astonished Otto didn't finish.

That Otto's smart. Looks like he guessed right away where I got them. That's right. These are the same crystals we came to the Water Gate City for. Powerful colorless magic stones. The kind that Bubby can live in.

Each of these artifacts allowed her to release unimaginable amounts of mana. With them, she could perform miracles. Unfortunately, so far the effects were poor. After all, the crystals would break immediately after use, regardless of whether their full potential had been tapped.

- We have to make it in five tries. Damn it, we got a job! Really, you and Natsuki are perfect, he likes that kind of action too! - grumbled Otto, scratching his head.

The girl smiled softly.

- What you say sounds like praise.

Subaru is fighting for Emilia somewhere right now.

She sighed regretfully, aware of the relationship linking the two.

She would gladly run to him immediately. That was her role. Her heart told her to stand by her enchanter's side. Pride, however, did not allow her to do so.

Subaru is often greatly underestimated, but I know he's clever. Since he went to fight without me, I'm sure he figured out some way to defeat the enemy without my help. And that means he doesn't need me this time. Sad, but true. That's why I'll only join him when this is over. Then it'll be time for hugs. And now I have to do my best to have something to show him.

- It may mean that it will be a while before Bubby comes back to us. It's your fault and you will pay for it," she said to Batenkaitos, staring at him menacingly. - Betty will give you hell.

- Hell? - replied the amused Archbishop. - Perfectly, let there be hell! Show me what you have for me! All those we devoured are right there! - he cried, sticking out his tongue again.

You can't talk to him. He doesn't regret what he does. Well, he is the Archbishop...

- Betty really hates you... - she said, stretching out her arms towards the enemy. - Al Minya!

Batenkaitos immediately stopped, ready to take the powerful blow, but nothing happened.

- I was joking! - Now she, in turn, showed him her tongue.

He doesn't know that I can only use these spells a few times, but he feels that I am capable of great magic. He understands that I am dangerous!

Suddenly the mercenaries and some large man whom Beatrice did not know attacked the Archbishop. They wanted to take advantage of the girl's run. It was an element that temporarily distracted him. Unfortunately, the attack was unsuccessful. The Archbishop not only dodged all the blows, but also immediately counterattacked with his knives. The tall man stretched out his arms to shield the others with his own body. Suddenly, a sharp sound rang out and the giant fell to his knees, spitting blood.

- Mr. Gaston! - cried Otto in amazement.

- Sorry! - shouted one of the shielded mercenaries, who obviously felt guilty that his comrade had suffered. But although Batenkaitos' attack looked deadly, Gaston suffered only minor wounds, as if his body was made of steel.

Beatrice knew immediately what technique he used.

Controlled mana flow.

Adepts of this art use magical energy somewhat differently than for enchanting. No talent is required for this, only hard physical training.

Looks like this Gaston guy can do something. He must have put in a great deal of effort and time. That was the only reason why he was able to stand against the Archbishop of Sin. But even his trained body couldn't completely stop the knives.

- He won't last long... - she added out loud.

At the same moment Batenkaitos drove his knee into the face of the kneeling Gaston. The man with the broken nose flew backwards.

- Great job, Gaston! You get a plus for good intentions! You tried hard, but unfortunately you didn't make it! You're the type, aren't you?

With that insulting shout, he managed to provoke the white-coated mercenaries.

- Bastard! - growled one of them.

They leaped at Gluttony all at once, as one. Ley dodged them, and then, seizing the opportunity, held out his arms.

- Bennett Mossa! August Burren! Calshifs Finrell! - he shrieked, at the same time tapping this on his shoulder and that on his leg, then he opened his fang-filled mouth wide and licked his own hand with glee.

Beatrice watched as three unknown men in white coats fell to the ground.

Who are they? What happened?

- Beatrice! These are our allies! I don't know who they are! But I know they are on our side and that must be enough for now! - shouted Otto. He was the first to realize the situation and helped the small girl to understand.

Gluttony showed what he could do with his power. He ate their names. Focus, Beatrice. Don't think about it.

She decided to simply trust Otto's words and act. Batenkaitos was already pointing the blade of his knife towards the helpless men. She held out her hands.

- Some kind of joke again? - muttered the Archbishop.

- You're about to find out for yourself!

This time the spell was real. Through the power of one of the crystals, a violet light shot towards the boy and surrounded him.

- Damn it! - Batenkaitos muttered. He had no time to finish off the mercenaries, for he himself was suddenly in danger.

The purple circle narrowed just enough to immobilize him. The boy threw Beatrice a piercing glance and was about to flee out of range of the magic when suddenly he heard someone's heavy footsteps right behind him. With a swift movement, he swung his knife, but its blade pierced the air.

There was no one behind Batenkaitos.

- Garfiel and the Visceral Hunter were fooled, why not the Archbishop? - laughed Otto, then immediately retreated as far away from the Gluttony as possible. Beatrice jumped back with him.

- Ul Minya! - shouted the girl from a safe distance.

The air above the plaza crackled, the sky filled with a purple glow. Batenkaitos looked at the magic that was forming into a disk shape.

- Haa! - He sighed contentedly. - What a beautiful display of skill! Bravo, Miss Beatrice! Is this like the spells used by Lord Roswaal?

- What nonsense! You couldn't come up with anything better!

A purple mass of magic collapsed onto the Archbishop. The force of the impact ripped up the cobblestones and created a powerful wind that raised dust.

The ruffles of Beatrice's dress rippled. Beside her, Otto, bent over, tried to protect himself from the blast.

- We did it! - he shouted with joy.

But Beatrice knew that it was not. Besides, Subaru had taught her that after such a shout, it usually turned out that the enemy had survived after all.

Indeed, after only a moment, Batenkaitos jumped out of the sparkling smoke directly at the small girl with a laugh. The girl escaped at the last moment, floating into the air. But when she looked down... She held her breath.

The Archbishop leaped and flew towards her like a hawk, ready to tear her to pieces with his claws. At the last moment, she shouted an incantation:

- Shamak!

A spell of dark magic that she had not used as often in four hundred years as she had in the last year. The third stone cracked, and a black mist engulfed Batenkaitos.

- Uaaa! - shouted the confused boy.

Taking advantage of the few moments they had stolen from the Archbishop, Beatrice and Otto exchanged glances. The merchant nodded.

Unfortunately, the spell trapped the enemy for barely two seconds.

- Aaah! You've done us in, Miss Beatrice! Since when do you use our hero's methods? His company is bad for you! - he cried out, laughing wildly.

He can't know that I signed a contract with Subaru. That's not in Rem's memories. He noticed something was up, but he didn't realize how much of an influence my enchanter had on me. I've changed because of him. For example... it used to be unthinkable that I would rely on someone.

- Because, you see, this is a team game! - exclaimed Beatrice.

Batenkaitos blinked, bewildered. He didn't understand.

- Sorry it took so long, you little raghead!

Gluttony heard an energetic voice coming from somewhere above his head, from the roof of one of the nearby buildings. He stopped, and then a golden-haired girl landed right in front of him.

- Huh?

- There you go, I have arranged a power especially for you, a power so powerful that even Reinhard would have a problem with it! - With a confident face, she waved a long object wrapped in white cloth.

Batenkaitos didn't have time to react to the quick as the wind blow and was struck in the face with such force that he flew sideways. Otto shouted, exultant. Had they just defeated the enemy?

- The Sword Saint would have a problem over something like that? Are you kidding me?

- Oh, my...

The archbishop looked at Felt ominously, rubbing his bruised cheek. The girl made big eyes - she had expected a completely different outcome. Ley took advantage of the fact that she was close. Too close. He grabbed her face.

- No! He can't touch her! - shouted Otto, blanching.

The Archbishop stuck out his long tongue as if to show it off.

- Felt... - he whispered. He blushed at the thought of the wonderful feast that awaited him. - Enjoy your meal!

With a taste, he licked his palm, as if Felt, or her essence, was right there. He wanted to caress it with the rough surface of his tongue, taste every inch of it, and then let it flow into his stomach. Desecrate her and digest her.

Otto watched horrified as Felt's 'name' landed in Gluttony’s belly, aware that when this was over, there would be no trace of her. Everyone would forget she existed.

Suddenly Batenkaitos' face changed color.

- Bu... bueeee...

Just a moment ago, his eyes were shining in ecstasy. He was expecting an exceptionally wonderful feast, and he was shaking as if he had just eaten something poisonous.

He's not pretending. Why would he pretend?

Beatrice seized the moment to join in the action. She landed right next to Felt, and together with her she grasped the hand of

to eat wrapped weapons.

- Get ready! - she shouted.

The object was narrow and oblong. Beatrice knew that a white magic staff was hidden under the material.

She could really hurt even Reinhard, except that the blonde doesn't know how to use her. I do. I know because I saw it with my own eyes.

Felt clenched her teeth and improved her grip, ready to strike from the hip, Two stones burst in Beatrice's pocket. A brisk stream of mana poured into the weapon.

Batenkaitos sensed a powerful force gathering right in front of him. He was still stunned by the poison Felt had turned out for him, but instinct worked. Cursing, he tried to jump away, Just then a hand grabbed his ankle.

The Archbishop collapsed to the ground. Startled, he looked down to see who had stopped him.

The hand belonged to Gaston. The man was bleeding profusely, but he managed to crawl close enough to help in the fight.

- Ha! - exclaimed Felt, overjoyed that her vassal had done so well. She stretched her lips in a wide grin, revealing pointed fangs.

- Die," she shouted.

Together they stabbed Gluttony with a magic staff, the tip of which glowed white.
