Chapter 15 School life

From today the new semester start and me, Leia and Jessica will be going to school together.
Leia was walking somewhat awkwardly and seems to be nervous about her brand new uniform.
Looking around there were other people that also look tense.

This spring, I sure there are plenty of new student coming over.
Come to think of it there was luggage of people that just moved into the dormitory.

As far as I could see were mostly women but I didn’t particularly mind.
The major jobs in this country are hereditary, if you had decided to become a knight you had to go to knight school and those who graduate from this school usually take more plain jobs like a receptionist for the nation or office work.
Though receptionist and office work are thought to be women work and although small there are some that became knights after graduating from this school, as a whole there lots of women that go to school although some don’t want to get a job but only to study.
That why this school makes it a priority to teach sheltered girls how to get rid of insect that wants to leech off them.
On the other hand, the ratio of man to woman in knight school is the opposite of this school where there are a lot of nobility third sons who admire knights.

I took Leia hand and went to the entrance of the school building where the class chart was put up.

“We seem to be in the same class this year”

In the same frame, there was both my and Jessica name like last year.

“Please treat me well to the coming year”

Leia went and look with enviable eyes but it wasn’t possible since we are in a different grade.
I sent Leia to her class and offer her some encouragement while she gave a small nod.
Then we headed to our own classroom.
There was some familiar face in our new class and when the teacher enters the classroom, everyone was seated, gave our greeting and self-introduction began.

“Good morning. My name is Mel Leiria. From today I will be in charge of this class. Thank you. Well, some of you may not know each other so let begin self-introduction first. So the person in order of that seat…”

This somewhat tired looking teacher with a big chest look to be in her twenties.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call her beautiful but she already looks tired from the new school year, though being a teacher is a tough job.

I stood up from my seat and introduce myself.
After giving a normal introduction as I sit down, the surrounding became bustling with noise.

“Is that Anne Rose of the white rose?”

“As beautiful as the rumors”

Hearing whisper here and there.
But what is the white rose?
Somehow I would feel strange walking alone with that nickname.
Even in this school, my appearance was eye-catching that it seems a fan club might be made.
I don’t know when it was going to happen but I expecting that.
Frankly speaking, I being a transcendent beauty am the center of attention.
If it was a man everyone would look but in this world, a woman would turn one head too, my awareness of being a beauty is coming to light.

“Then everyone. This class will be studying together for a year. Try to get along. And with that, we will be ending it today”

The first day is only a meeting.
Class start from tomorrow onwards.
Is Leia doing any better?

“I made a friend!”

On the way home from school, Leia told me that unable to hide her happiness while skipping.
Making a friend so quickly.
Where did her tension this morning go, well Leia is already skipping happily.
With her working hard everyday Leia no longer have any problem reading or writing.
If there is lesson tomorrow, at least she won’t be lagging behind.

Starting from today there will be various class taking places such as magic practice, etiquette, lectures and horseback riding.
Such days continue for a while and Leia got used to her school life but I was beginning to notice a difference.
It was during magic practice that I notice it.

Magic changes it power by how clearly you can imagine the phenomenon.

If you imagine a big explosion of fire, the fire magic will increase in power and if you imagine a violent blizzard the ice magic will increase in power.

Those that saw a volcanic eruption or huge forest fire, those who travel to extremely cold sea and snowy fields, the more you expand your view by observing while traveling it will give rise to more powerful magic.

With my knowledge from earth, I know that heat is molecule vibrating.

In high-temperature molecule would be moving about intensely while in low temperature the molecule movement would be dull.

In order to measure a student ability in our first magic class, each student will release a magic that they are good at in front of the teacher.
The others will observe and the teacher will give advice.
After the evaluation of the last person, it was my turn.
We were instructed to climb onto a stage so that it easier for the others to observe.
The other students were waiting behind the castor so that it wouldn’t be dangerous to them by chance.
I closed my eyes and concentrated.

Imagining a molecule, a small bead, that completely stop moving and everything freezes.

Paki! Biki biki biki ga shaaaaaaaa!

A sharp sound resounded all around me and when I opened my eyes, everything was covered in ice.
My teacher and classmate are watching me with their eye wide open.

“Errr….”

I have never imagined it becoming like this.
There is a wall of ice in front of me and all the way is covered in ice.

After that day, the practice training ground became unusable for several days.

“How do you do? Ainkfalts-san. I was surprised by your magic”

“Err you are…”

After the incident at the practice ground, someone spoke to me from behind as soon as lunch break started.
Standing gracefully with her black hair in a princes’ cut hairstyle, her appearance seems very familiar and it reminded me of a Yamato Nadeshiko.
I remember we were in different class last year but maybe we met a lot during bath time or while eating in the dormitory.
I sure her name was…

“My name is Kanade Soresuto. Please call me Kanade. Please to make your acquaintance”

“Then Kanade-san. I often seen you around but this is the first time we talk. I am Anne Rose Ainkfalts. You can call me by my first name since my younger sister have the same surname in the lower grade”

“Younger sister…? Ah Eh, then I shall call you Anne Rose-san. May I join you for lunch? You see everyone in magic class already made cliques and that left me being alone”

As I nod to Kanade who was laughing jokingly Jessica came by.
Kanade politely introduces herself to Jessica and we headed to the first year student floor to invite Leia to come with us to the cafeteria.

Afterward at lunch, strangely enough, I found out that I and Kanade have the same favorite food and taste in clothes.
I sure we are going to be good friends.
