Afterword

Series complete! And so the final volume of Strike the Blood has reached stores!

Truly, thank you very much to everyone for sticking with me this far. It became a longer series than initially planned, but being able to portray background material that was never going to be touched on was tough going but pretty fun. Of course, if I was to get greedy, there are plenty of characters I’d like to do things with and situations to portray, but there wasn’t enough time or pages for all of it. I’m very sorry to Rui and Yuno, who had their appearances entirely cut. I didn’t forget about you…

In the nine-and-a-half years after I began to write this series, there have been heavy shifts in the real world that surprise me even today. In particular, I believe there have been great changes in the environment around all the readers who have been following this work since the beginning.

Personally speaking, it’s not so much that I’ve changed as weakened. Being gradually worn down might be the more apt description, but in contrast, what hasn’t changed one tiny bit is that I was always happy when writing Strike the Blood. I was grateful from the bottom of my heart to have a place to write Kojou and company’s adventures and that that many people were reading them. So if those who have read this series enjoy it even a tiny bit as much as I did, I can have no greater joy.

Now then, the book series itself may be complete, something I am extremely thankful for, but the new OVA under the title Strike the Blood IV will be on sale in a little while to come on Blu-ray and DVD. It’s blessed with a fabulous staff and cast, and the contents will not betray your expectations in any way. There are also plans for a collection of original short stories. I’ll be quite happy if you stick with me to the very end.

Also, e-book versions of the previously Internet-only “Strike the Blood—This Is Saikai Academy” four-panel comic spinoff by Ryuryu Akari-sensei are starting distribution with various e-book companies. I humbly request you check them out, too.

To Manyako, the illustrator, you’ve been a big help once again. As an author, I had the honor and good fortune to work with you until the very end of the series.

Also, I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone involved with the creation and distribution of this book.

Of course, my greatest thanks go to all of you who have read this book.

I hope we meet again in my next work.
