AFTERWORD
Thank you for reading Sword Art Online 19: Moon Cradle.
This story is treated as a kind of follow-up to the Alicization saga that ended in Volume 18, but that term might be a bit misleading, so I’d like to explain the concept further. (Beware of spoilers for this book beyond this point!)
In the middle of Volume 18, the Underworld entered the maximum-acceleration phase, meaning that, inside it, time passed at five million times the speed of the real world. Kirito and Asuna were left behind during that time, and they spent two hundred years in the Underworld before logging out. The Moon Cradle story takes place very early within that two-hundred-year span. In other words, less than five days pass over the course of Volume 19, but in the real world, it’s one five-millionth of that time: just 0.08 seconds.
But even though it takes place in the blink of an eye, I’m sorry to say there will be one more book of it! In the following volume, the story will return to Centoria, where Kirito and Ronie and Asuna should be facing off against the mastermind of this plot. I want to get it out as soon as possible, so just bear with me until then.

I’d like to add a little more background to this story.
In the book, Ronie is imagining the numbers she and Tiese will get as Integrity Knights. Some readers might have wondered, “Wouldn’t Eugeo be Thirty-Two?” As a matter of fact, although his memories were blocked by Administrator, and he called himself Eugeo Synthesis Thirty-Two, he regained those memories in the fight with Kirito and then died in battle against Administrator immediately following that. At the point when Moon Cradle takes place, Kirito is the only person who knows about all of this, and he has not told anyone that Eugeo was an Integrity Knight. So the number Thirty-Two wasn’t retired, and Tiese will eventually inherit it.
I doubt that I’ll get to it in the following volume, but I would like to write about Ronie’s and Tiese’s official promotions into the knighthood and the outcome of their love lives—eventually.
About a week after the release of this book, on February 18th, 2017, the animated feature film Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale will hit theaters. Unlike all the other stories, which take place in VRMMOs, this one is set in an AR (augmented reality) game, but it’s completely packed with unbelievable visuals, so I urge you to check it out on the big screen! Also, I’m sorry to abec and Miki for cutting it so close to the deadline once again! Hope to see you in the next volume!!
