An Xiaxia was dumbfounded . Why was Lan Yu here at the Meng family home?
Sheng Yize noticed the look on her face and gave her hand a little squeeze . “What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing . ” An Xiaxia smiled, then greeted the man as well . “Hello, Uncle . ”
Their uncle Meng Xingzhou forced a little smile . It was apparent that smiling was something he seldom did . He then took out a box from his inside pocket and gave it to An Xiaxia . “Since I’m your uncle now, you’ll have to accept my gift . ”
An Xiaxia darted a nervous glance at Sheng Yize, who gave her a little nod . Only then did she take the box and thank Meng Xingzhou . “Thank you . ”
“Don’t mention it . ” Meng Xingzhou then turned to the woman next to him and asked, “Have you met Yize’s family before?”
Lan Yu’s smile was mesmerizing . “Not really . I only met Xiaxia once . ”
She then raised an eyebrow at An Xiaxia, who bit her lip, fought off her suspicions, and smiled back .
“Time to eat,” said Granny indifferently, before she went to the dining room with Granddad .
An Xiaxia didn’t think that the obvious change in her attitude was directed at Sheng Yize and herself . So, it was because of Lan Yu…
She eyed Meng Xingzhou and Lan Yu curiously and thought that they didn’t look like a married couple .

Seeing her doubtful look, Sheng Yize explained in a low voice, “That’s my uncle’s girlfriend . ”
“They’re not married yet?”
“No . ”
“So, it’s like my brother…” An Xiaxia sighed . “Uncle Meng is much better, though . At least he has a girlfriend . My brother is still single . ”

He knew perfectly well why An Yibei was still single, but he couldn’t tell An Xiaxia the reason .
Meng Xingzhou had sharp ears and overheard their conversation . He raised an eyebrow and asked, “Did you just say that you have a brother?”

Meng Xingzhou seemed interested . “What’s his name?”
“An Yibei . ”
Meng Xingzhou nodded . “So, you’re siblings . He’s a nice chap . I hung out with him a couple of times when I was in Ye City . ”
What? He and An Yibei knew each other? An Xiaxia had no idea .
Lan Yu smiled and looked at An Xiaxia, then praised her . “From the glow on your face, I see that you’ve been pretty happy lately . ”
An Xiaxia couldn’t help but tense up when facing her . Luckily, Lan Yu didn’t mention Kang Jian, to her great relief .
She sat back down at the dinner table after washing her hands .
The rule of the Meng family was no speaking when you ate or slept .
The dinner went smoothly, but the mood at the table was rather depressing .
After dinner, Lan Yu invited her for a walk in the garden . An Xiaxia couldn’t find any excuse to turn her down and had to follow her out .

It was already autumn in Yu City . Several Chinese parasol trees grew in the yard and yellow leaves floated down as the wind began to blow .

An Xiaxia wrung her hands together . “He’s a good man . ”

An Xiaxia was confused . “What are you getting at?”
Lan Yu smiled . “I’m just wondering . What will you do if some day, all the people that used to love you start to hate you?”
