Chapter 16: Another Battle with the Bandits (Survival Game)

There were basic metallic weapons sold in the starter village. However, the price… to beginners who just started the game for a few days, they could only drool over it. Thus, it would be more practical to improve your attributes or complete more quests. If you can complete quests with a reward that gave you weapons, that would be marvellous. For the other players who were not so lucky, they had to earn the money to purchase the weapons.

Therefore, there were very little players who possessed a metallic weapon at this point of time. To get a weapon as a reward from the quests was a test of luck and you would get it in 1/10000 chance. In the wild, the only way to get metallic weapons was to kill humanoid mobs. Many of the current players had not even finished exploring their starter map. They would also not be able to locate where the humanoid mobs were or if they could, they could not even defeat them. Thus, the only person who could get a weapon through this method was Xia Mo.

She looked at the rusty sword. It was not sharp and had rust spots all over. It looked unused but its attack was much higher than wooden plank. As she was thinking whether to find more bandits, she heard a voice shouting out,” Who is that?”

Xia Mo was startled, and rolled on the ground to hide in the wilderness. She looked at two figures heading towards where she was hiding.

Their appearance looked like 2 patrolling bandits. This was troubling. Xia Mo knew that her current attributes were almost insufficient to fight a bandit one on one, and two bandits were out of the question.

However, if she wanted to escape, that would be impossible too.

She lowered her eyes and determined that the best way was to fight and see what happened.

All these thoughts were decided in just an instance. The blowgun in her hand was then aimed at the head of one of the bandits.

The bandit that was at the forefront felt something flew towards his face. He tried to tilt his head and that thing only grazed his side of his head. However, at the next second, his colleague behind him screamed out as he was now on the ground rolling about. He was agonizing in pain with his face covered by his hands. Fresh red blood was gushing out through his fingers and stained his clothes. In the midst of his fingers, there was a dark green dart protruding out.

The standing bandit was furious and noticed a rustle in the trees. He recalled that this was the place where all the commotion came from. Without much consideration, the bandit roared and pulled out his own rusty sword and rushed into the deeper parts of the forest.

Xia Mo had already escaped by then. After aiming at her target, she had no time to see if it hit. But the scream she heard meant that she had took out one of them for now, and her heart was more at ease. If it was only 1 bandit left, it would be much easier to handle.

Luckily the base of the bandits was quite far from here, and this place was the furthest point for patrolling. Xia Mo only dared to run in small circles, as she was afraid she might aggro the other nearby patrolling bandits if she ran too far away. However, if she stayed where she was and did not change her location, the bandit that was on the ground might end up chasing her too when the effects of aconite ended.

After attracting one of the bandits, she jumped up a tree nearby. Her size was considered petite and light, and with these days of training, her body was used to such actions even though her Agility was still low. Her body balance was excellent and got onto a tree branch. The bandit behind her saw that she had slowed down and tried his best to catch up with her, hoping that she would be exhausted and killing her would be a piece of cake.

However, Xia Mo suddenly changed direction and jumped down at him instead. He was unable to react in time and just lifted his sword above his head to act as a shield against her attack. When Xia Mo was in mid-air, she smiled. The sword that was supposed to aim for the head of the bandit, in the next second, dropped into her left hand. She tilted her body and brushed past the bandit.

The patrolling bandit thought that he had blocked the attack successfully but never imagined that the perpetrator was now next to him. He was pleased because she had missed her target. He swung his sword at where Xia Mo landed and with this strike, he would gain an upper hand.

During the split second when the bandit turned around, he felt an icy sensation in his chest and looked at where the source of the pain was. He was horrified to realize that the long sword had sliced through from his side of the body. The sword was then pulled out, and fresh blood gushed out like a water fountain.

Xia Mo only knew that she had attacked effectively, and the other party was in so much pain that every step he took was extremely slow. She took advantage of this situation and continuously used her Thrust skill to empty the life bar of the bandit. Then, she rested for a while before she only took the other rusty sword from the corpse and ran back to where she hid earlier from the 2 bandits.

The bandit who was pierced in the eye, was now lying on the ground in a paralyzed state. Since the eyes was a vital weakness, his life bar was decreasing. Xia Mo ended his life without hesitation. At this point of time, she could finally breathe out and start to search the corpses for her spoils of war.

The clothes on the humanoid mobs could be stripped off and used by players. But the condition was that there must be no damages. However, only the clothing’s of the 3rd corpse could be used as the other 2 had been damaged.
