“He liked playing shogi.”
The headmaster suddenly said.
Harutora asked again, "What? and Touji was unusually stunned by this.
Regardless, the head of the school,
“But he was weak. Is it called lame shogi? Even though he was weak, he liked to play, and when he lost, he would work hard, so everyone was very annoyed. But I was grateful to him, though. If he hadn't forced me to learn shogi, I probably wouldn't have understood shogi for the rest of my life.”
As usual, Harutora wasn't immediately apparent, but Touji came in a pinch.
Underneath the hairband, his eyes widened.
“You… you met him, Tsuchimikado Yakō, before he died?”
“Yes. That was when I was a child.”
Harutora opened his mouth wide as Touji clenched it shut.
“Like you, even Tsuchimikado Yakō was born into the fallen Tsuchimikado family, spent his youth as a man of the old family, then developed his talents and was swept up in the turbulence of the times. It wasn't an ordinary life, that's for sure, but he was a normal human being who laughed and cried.”
