In the kitchen of our rented house in Doran.
Rather than house, I supposed we should call it a mansion. A proper manor house with all the luxurious amenities to match it.
This naturally includes a very nice kitchen.
Right now, I am standing in the middle of this kitchen contemplating what to make with a large lump of Red Dragon meat.
Red Dragon and Earth Dragon meat have a lot of similarities. [1] However, I feel that the meat in front of me has less fat.
“Well, since this is the first time I handle Red Dragon meat… [1] [4] let’s go with steaks as our tasting menu,”
I took out the sun-dried salt [9] that I bought earlier as well as a pepper mill of good peppercorns. [6] Right, first off, we should try the meat with as few condiments as possible.
First, slice a piece of the dragon meat off. I cut myself a piece of meat a little thicker than the standard steak size[10]. [6] Since the meat is a little lean, it’s better to err on the side of too thick than too thin. That way, I get a nice sear on the outside without overcooking the meat.
The method for frying thick steak is not much different from thinner cuts.
First, heat up a pan of oil. While the oil was heating up, scatter some salt and pepper on the steak. Once the pan started to smoke, I placed the meat onto the pan and let it sizzle.
A warm, savoury smell began to fill the kitchen.
“Wow, that smells delicious.”
After the high heat searing on one side, lower the fire and turn the meat. Finally, remove the meat and place it on a warmed plate under aluminium foil to let it rest and cook from the residual heat.
Finally, once the steak was done resting I took off the foil paper and studied the beautiful looking steak.
“I can tell that this is going to be delicious just by looking!”
I cut off a piece and have a taste. Cook’s privilege.
Nom, nom, nom.
“Delish~~”
The only thing I could compare this to was the Earth Dragon meat. Both have similar levels of deliciousness. However, the Red Dragon have a slightly gamier taste to it. I could probably treat this like very pricey beef and make a Roast Dragon, doesn’t that sound good?

Gulp, it’s going to be amazingly delicious. I can tell.
It’s already this delicious as a steak but somehow I really want to eat this as a Roast.
Red Dragon meat looked very red and firm to touch, however, it’s nice and tender with a moderately chewy texture. I can feel the meat juices spreading in my mouth whenever I chew it~
“Just another piece… one more…”
I ate and practically squirmed with ecstasy at the taste in my mouth.
Delicious! Delicious!
When I finally came to myself, about half of the oversized dragon steak was gone.
“Woah, this is too delicious. I ended up eating so much…”
W-well, you can’t blame me when the meat is so delicious.
I thought Earth Dragon meat was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted but this Red Dragon meat… well, both have their charms, I guess it all depends on your taste.
Are all dragons this delicious? I told Fer, Sui and Dora-chan not to willy-nilly attack dragons on sight but maybe I should take back that order since they are so delicious.
[6] I wonder what other dragons tasted like…
It’s not like I’m deliberately hunting dragons down. Just… if we ever encounter one, we could take them down. Also, it’s not like we see dragons all the time anyway.
While I was pondering over all this, my hands automatically work to prepare more Dragon Steaks. Otherwise, if my familiars realised I had been eating behind their backs they would never stop hounding me…

“Umu, it’s been a long time since I ate Red Dragon but the meat is really delicious. Also, it tasted better after it’s been grilled,” commented Fer as he chewed on the Red Dragon Steak thoughtfully.
““That arrogant guy turns out to be really tasty, huh,”” Dora-chan has a most satisfied look on his face.
“”Dragon is delicious~~”” Sui was vibrating with excitement.
We were seated in the spacious living room, all of us savouring the taste of Red Dragon meat.
“It’s really good. I thought Earth Dragon was the best thing I ever had but this one is really good, too.”
Even while I was grilling steaks, I sneaked a piece now and then in the name of taste testing. Even so, I have a full-size steak on my plate served with onion and soy steak sauce. Plain salt and pepper is delicious but I prefer this special soy sauce.
“Even I rarely get to eat dragon but all species are pretty delicious,” commented Fer.
“Is that so? [5] Remember I said not to hunt them if they are not attacking us? Well, anyway, if you see one please take it down. Though I suspect we won’t see them often.”
Fer nodded fervently, “Umu, excellent idea. In fact, we’re very lucky to hunt two dragons down within a year. [5] [6] You have great luck with dragons.”
[6] Personally, I’d rather have more luck with girls but…
“It’s a bit troublesome to have to come to Doran to dismantle a dragon but I guess it’s worth it, [5]” [7] I mused.
“Oi, one more. I want it with that other sauce.”
“”Me too!””
“”Sui wants more too~~””
I fried up steaks matched with steak soy sauce followed by steaks with garlic soy sauce. [1] I fried up two more over-sized steaks for myself.
I can’t help it, Dragon Steaks are too delicious~
“Pheww, I’m really full…”
“”Umu, it’s great.”
“”Hic, I think I ate too much…””
“”Sui is full too~~!””
I’ve eaten quite a lot of steak too. Unable to move from the food coma, I also laid down for a rest.
“Oh, yes,” I said. “There’s something I need to tell everyone.”
“Nu, what is it?” something in my tone of voice made Fer look at me suspiciously.
“Well, to tell the truth…”
I told Fer, Dora-chan and Sui about the blessing from the God of Creation, Demiurgos-sama.
“…anyway, the long and the short of it is that I’ll live for another 1,500 years…”
“Oh? Isn’t that great news? [5] Fuhahaha! Here I thought I could only eat your delicious food for 60 years or less, this is great news indeed! Umu, good, good,”
““Yummy food for another 1,500 years! Thank you great God of Creation! Good job!””
“”Sui gets to be with master and eat lots of delicious food~~ Sui is happy~~””
Well, it’s good that everyone seems to be happy about it but…
“Are you saying I have to feed all of you for 1,500 years?”
“What nonsense are you talking about? We are your familiars, it’s your duty to feed your familiars. It’s only right!”
Oi, Fer-san, don’t say it so matter-of-factly like that!
To be honest, I figure they would all stick with me for some time but… 1,500 years? That’s a long time but we’ll see. Time will tell eventually. [5]
I guess I’m alright feeding them for 1500 years. [5] It’s not like I’m unhappy about this arrangement, but still, it’s your responsibility to get your own meat! [5]
