A big man was dashing in the covered forest.

That big man’s aim was, Sakurako, Yagami Takuya, and Utomiya Riku’s camp site.

He had accepted the instructions of Sakayanagi to find whoever was taking command of the enemy.

As he was trying to visually pin down the camp site while running, he spotted someone’s silhouette in front of him. That man stood in his way while looking at his direction as if to obstruct him.

Kitou didn’t recall that person’s face, but he realized right away that he wasn’t an ally. He tried to change his route while there was still distance left between them, but seeing that the other party also moved.

Having fully recognized that this was an enemy, Kitou faced the man who stopped his running.

“Do you have business here?”

Though he was a high-grade student, Utomiya inquired with a rough tone and harsh eyes, forgetting to speak politely.

“If I recall correctly, you’re 2-A’s Kitou Hayato. My senior huh.”

He said such while quietly mixing politeness into his speech. He had recollections of Kitou beforehand because he was a solo group, but because he was coordinating with a group, he was erased from the list.

But he would look suspicious if he told him that he knew about him from the beginning. So he acted as if he didn’t until know.

“I’m in a hurry.”

Formally refusing, Kitou made to pass by Utomiya.

But Utomiya caught his shoulder and stopped him.

“...What?”

Kitou felt irritated at that and glared at him, but Utomiya just gave him a sharp look.

“Sorry but I can’t let you go farther than this.”

“What?”

In front of the suspiciously furrowing his eyebrows Kitou, Utomiya’s fist approached.

Kitou quietly avoided that fist and took distance.

“What are you doing?”

Then he closed that distance and gripped his collar.

“Didn’t I tell you? I can’t let you go farther than this.”

“What’s your name?”

“Year 1 Class C, Utomiya Riku.”

Utomiya. One of the people Sakayanagi had ordered him to investigate.

Since he was stopping him here, he wasn’t the commander.

And Utomiya also guessed that Kitou had been directed by someone to come here.

“Who told you to come here?”

Though he tried to get the name, Kitou didn’t show any signs of answering.

“Even if you’re an honor student, I have no intention of overlooking this.”

With those words, Kitou’s eyes glinted sharply and his big arm aimed for Utomiya’s neck.

Utomiya was able to calmly take distance and escape from Kitou’s attack without difficulty. But because of his quick dodge, the transceiver that had been in his pocket fell at Kitou’s feet.

“Damn!”

Even if he panicked and tried to come near again, Kitou’s posture made it impossible for him to carelessly jump in.

“Utomiya-kun? What are you doing?”

From the transceiver that had tumbled to his feet, Tsubaki’s voice leaked out.

“Tch...”

Tsubaki clicked his tongue and looked at the transceiver he had accidentally dropped.

“You didn’t follow along with my orders did you?”

Feeling suspicious of the lack of a reply, Tsubaki continued.

Utomiya looked for a chance to come close, but Kitou motioned for him to calm down with one of his hands.

He picked up the transceiver and lightly threw it in Utomiya’s direction.

“...What’s... what is your plan?”

Towards those unthinkable actions, as if to throw away his malice Utomiya asked.

“My objective is done.”

With there being no more need to fight, Kitou raised the object and gave it back to him.

He heard Tsubaki’s voice from the transceiver and judged that she was the commander.

Kitou’s back had already started to become distant and defenseless.

“Utomiya-kun, if you hear me then calm down. Fighting with Kitou-senpai here and now is a bad move.”

In the time he didn’t reply and stared at the transceiver, Kitou’s figure had disappeared.

“...It’s me.”

Utomiya was left alone before long and replied in the transceiver.

“Are you safe? What about Kitou-senpai”

“He just disappeared.”

“Why did you do something so inconsiderate? If that didn’t go well Utomiya-kun would have also been expelled you know? Or did you do it so he wouldn’t come to me?”

“No that’s not it... sorry. It was my own haphazard judgment. I thought that even if this strategy didn’t go well, that there was no need to give too much information to our opponents from right under our noses. I stopped him so he wouldn’t come to Tsubaki.”

“I can’t help but condemn it if you go too far, but is that what Utomiya-kun really thought?”

After a short silence, Utomiya spoke.

“No... yes, that’s right. I moved by myself.”

As if his reply showed unease, Tsubaki was quiet for a while on the other side of the transmission.

“I see. For now if you can move come back.”

“Understood.”

The transmission ended. Utomiya looked at his tablet.

From there he handled another transceiver, changed the code and started a transmission.

“The obstructive 2nd year insect has been driven away. He should be satisfied to have found out that Tsubaki was the commander.”

“As expected, Utomiya-kun.”

“So, what about Tsubaki’s plan?”

“It failed as you wished it to. Though I think that even if Ayanokouji-senpai hadn’t been deliberately warned in advance, it was a cliche plan that wouldn’t have worked.”

“I’m hanging up.”

Without carelessly prolonging it, Utomiya turned the transceiver’s battery off.
