Around the time when Tigre and Valentina held their meeting, two women had secretly visited the tent of Earl Bulat – Regin and Marina. Regin was acquainted with the earl since she had repeatedly met him for negotiations about the trade between his earldom and Brune.
When Regin spotted Earl Bulat’s banner among those of the western lords army on Valentina’s side, she had decided to take action for Tigre’s sake. Her first question for the earl was why he had joined this battle. And thus she learned that the earl had acted because he believed Zhcted might be merged into Brune, if Tigre won.
Regin strove to resolve this misunderstanding and also talked about Valentina’s ambitions. She told him that Valentina had murdered Eugene by using Miron and that she planned to to install Prince Valery as puppet in due time. Marina furthermore explained that Eugene had been put into jail for a long time after being wrongly accused of a crime. As for this, it was already plenty for her to only talk about Eugene’s state at the brink of his death and what she had heard from Eugene.
At the end, Regin added, “You have already fought once, so didn’t you accomplish your obligation here?”
