ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 324 Part 1
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 324: From Misery To Sadness Part 1

Sanraku: So, did you guys managed to defeat Kutanid in the end?

Akitsu Akane: Oh, right! I was wondering about that as well!

Arthur Pencilgton: All cleared!

Arthur Pencilgton: Thanks to the information given to us by Sanraku-kun we managed to clear it without any problems. Honestly, I thought it might have been a somewhat harder of a challenge, but once you understand what you’re dealing with, it gets really disinteresting and even boring.

Arthur Pencilgton: But it was actually the two of us that actually hard carried this expedition. Let’s just say that once the gender-bending phase came around, everyone got a little bit OVERLY enthusiastic about having grown boobs and wieners and it was difficult to keep them on track the whole time.

Arthur Pencilgton: The boss battle was actually a breeze. The hard part was what came after that, the running away phase. I honestly thought that we might have be screwed there for a moment.

Rust: But you managed to win in the end, so that’s all good, right?

Arthur Pencilgton: If only it was so sweet! The killer whales and never-ending zombie parades made this whole excursions way more difficult than it really was, so by the end I was just glad that it was finally over rather than basking in the sweet aftertaste of victory.

Sanraku: Eeehhh? Don’t tell me that you did not manage to defeat the Atlantic Reaperorca on the first try? How many times did it own your asses, admit it!

Sanraku: Seriously, that’s like, soooooo lame……

Arthur Pencilgton: Unlike some of my colleagues here, I do not sell my soul to a bunch of seafood for power. Fish-face.

Sanraku: Huh? What was that? Wanna go, you bitch? Wanna go!?

Arthur Pencilgton: I have a far better idea? Want to hear about Katsu who is looking all the same even though his gender has been changed?

Sanraku: Wait for a moment here. I’ll go buy myself some popcorn and cola.

Mold: I guess that Sanraku-san really intends to sit down and listen to that story after everything is set and done……

Sanraku: But before you start telling me about all that, I’ll just mention here quickly that right now I’m in the middle of doing some Unique Quest on the side.

Sanraku: And you will never even guess what that thing is!!!

Katsu: Then let’s hear it. I could really go for a change of pace here, since I’m getting sick of seafood for quite some time now.

Sanraku: Wait just a moment.

Sanraku: Wait just a minute here, Bonito-san. Let’s have a proper discussion here, shall we?

Sanraku: The thing that differentiates human beings from mere beasts is that we do not need to solve all of our problems with violence alone, right? We can talk our differences out, right?

Katsu: But wouldn’t you say that many of human emotions are beast-based, such as anger, for example?

Arthur Pencilgton: Oh my!? Could this be what people call a stray bullet hitting you indirectly!?

Saiga-0: What are you guys are talking about?

Rust: Go and buy yourself popcorn and cola. This is going to be good.

Mold: Ugly cannibalism. Ugly, but also mysteriously entertaining……

Sanraku: What the hell is wrong with this non-slip story here!? Soon you are going to forget what this thing was all about originally, and what’s the point in that!?

Arthur Pencilgton: And now we can see a Chimera in all of its majesty! Katsu finally fused with a grumpy old man and ascended beyond anything we have seen before!

Katsu: Want to add something more, Sanraku Crockett? How about that story when you got hit with a butt beam that managed to shot you into orbit at the speed of sound? Let’s hear it! I think that’s story is hilarious!

Mold: Nuburyufu!!!

Rust: Hoo boy, this is going to take at least three days for poor Mold to recover from.

So, it looks like that clear of the Kutanid of the Abyss was done without problems. I still had some time to spare before the Knights would start to move out, so for now I have logged in while thinking what could I possibly do here in order to prevent Katsu from spilling any beans on some of my utterly embarrassing stories. That in itself was truly…… a Unique Scenario.

「Really now, why is it that the weirdest of things turn out to be connected to one another when you least expect them to do so? Usually I would admire such a thing, but right now I don’t really feel like doing that, like at all……」

It is a Unique Scenario, but when you actually get down to doing it, it does not feel like a Unique Scenario in the slightest. Take escort missions for example: in those missions you are expected to partake in multitude of battles, some of them short and some of them fairly long. What’s more, the player assumes the role of the wall that protects the escort target from harm and any danger that may arise during the travels. But even missions like that can have various restrictions and prevent you from doing certain actions, increasing the difficulty levels tremendously.

So in other words, it is best for me to prepare for a long quest, so it would be wise to stock on healing items, provisions and make sure that my weapons are in top condition, so that I won’t find myself decreasing their durability to zero in no time at all.

But that does not really matter for now. If something interesting happens during this quest, it is going to receive a complete priority by me. Life is too short to be spent on regrets, and the same can be said about video games in general. There is no use agonizing and regretting your choices and decisions because…… You want to know, right? There is always a certain romance to venturing into the unknown, discovering new lands and slaying various vicious monsters. It is something that no true adventurer can easily deny.

There is this Unique Scenario called “True Love and True Hate”.

The conditions of this particular Unique Scenario occurring are most probably the possession of both the “Dullahan Blade” of the Dullahan Warrior and the “Noble Sisrent” of the “True Quiet” enemy. After that…… It is only a speculation on my part, but it would be coming into contact with someone possessing a vast knowledge about weapons in general and knowing a blacksmith with a rank of “Master” or higher.

No that I think about it, this Unique Scenario happened to unlock first when I happened to show Break the RIP weapon that I got from defeating True Quiet. She was just casually looking at it when all of a sudden she mumbled: “Is this thing…… looking for someone?” followe by “Hey lad, show me that big sword of yours for a moment”.

From that point forward, it was actually a smooth sailing. Upon closer inspection of the two weapons, Break came to a certain conclusion. She said that there is a strong connection between those two, and I’m not talking about anything half-assed. It’s a genuine bond. If you want to know more, you must seek out the owner of this sword…… the original Dullahan. I think that this is supposed to be a clue or something similar to it.

Hearing about that, I remember laughing hard. That’s actually quite a flag to be raised there, contacting a corpse. It might sound really bothersome and it can actually be quite a landmine, but in games like that the best course of action upon seeing a landmine it is to actually step on it without thinking too much. That is why I decided to come to Eightdolato for a while, and going down towards the valley filled with cursed fumes. It’s been a while since I was last here.

「Ah? What’s this? Think you can take me on, haa!? You are welcome to try, you bastards! Just don’t run away later with tears in your eyes!!!」

I don’t really have the time to waste on small fries like that. I needed to get a move on and find my prey. However, where would I even start to look for something like that, the original Dullahan?

About two hours later.

「Ah, FOR FUCK’S SAKE!!!!!!」

Fuck!? Is this the working of the RNG gods again!? Or maybe it’s the fault of some event flag that I did or did not manage to raise!? God damn it, I do not possess nearly enough information to find and defeat this thing! But how am I supposed to do it, huh!?

Hmm, let me think for a little bit. First of all, we need to make sure of the background relationship of the parties involved in this quest. I was told to investigate this place because two of my particular weapons were reacting to one another. Also, it is needless to say here, but the characters of this story are most probably not from the Era of the Gods, but from the more contemporary times: a black knight and his beloved wife, two regular humans. That much I know from the weapons’ descriptions.

It seems that some sort of tragedy took place in the past between the knight, the Princess and the King. Could it be that the Princess wanted to have a romance with the Knight and he refused her advances? But in that case, then…… whatever the hell should I do? Iwamaki-san is the Romance Master, not me. Well, whatever it might have been, as a result of that tragedy the Knight was beheaded and his wife went mad with grief, rage and hatred. …… Talk about one heck of a bad end, huh? Is there even a sliver of hope in a hopeless situation quite like this one?
