However, destroying one of the heads does not fix the main issue here: with one of the heads gone, it will be slightly easier, but the tail is still going to be there, ready to strike at any moment. And I cannot allow myself to be in a situation where I can evade or get out of the range of the attacks of the raid monster.
Right about now, it’s the tri-headed Tyranno that is focusing most of the aggro upon himself. But it goes down and I am left alone with the rest of the heads to deal with, it will be all over.
Talk about awkward. I see that this raid battle requires some truly unorthodox party formation if you want to emerge victorious out of it.
Looking by the sheer amount of people you would need to search and destroy all of the blood crystals, plus the party to keep the man body occupied, I would say that you would need at least ten…… No, five additional tanks on the main body unit would be nice to have, so you would need to have about fifteen people here at the least. The remaining thirty would smash all of the blood crystals and then rejoin the main group.
I think that the tanks I saw amidst the SF-Zoo would fit the bill here rather nicely…… And seriously, in a raid battle with such messed up setting, I can’t possibly think of a strategy that would still be good and did not involve tanks as the main force. Without them, the entire battlefront would just collapse in a matter of minutes.
I think that experienced players like Joset would be more than enough here, but adding five tanks splits the burned amongst them equally, so there would be no risk of needlessly overwhelming anyone. Of course, if they happened to possess a tremendous amount of firepower, that would have been an added bonus…… But I guess at this point it is just asking for too much.
In any case, I am not alone in this, either. I have two more players with me. Now, back to the actual battle…… I can see that the two heads are getting ready to attack me again, so I need to get a move on! If I die here, who is going to take care of the tri-headed Tyranno? Call it being needlessly overprotective, but I am not going to allow for any harm to happen to my main source of DPS here!
「I think it’s time for me to do something crazy and get on the offense as well…… Hm!?」
Not good, that feeling…… I know it!!!
I thought that it would happen eventually, but I was thinking that we can deal with it when it was going to happen. I was still tracking the movements of the mouth right in front of me, but with my other hand, the one that quickly equipped Adarval Rebuild once more…… I slashed “it” in half as it was jumping at me. A bright red wolf that suddenly came from the direction of the village.
It is hard for me to compare it ot anything else since the only other wolf I have fought here is Luukan, but judging from the way I was able to easily slash it in half, it could not have been all that strong to begin with. Being able to dispose of it like that, it makes me want to throw my head back and let out a blood-curdling howl, one that would scare both the People of the Forest and the monsters alike.
「…… Aaah, yeah, I see, I get it. You must have hatched completely on your own from inside of the crystal, right?」
This is bad, this is bad, this is really, REALLY bad…… I thought that with all of the People of the Forest around I would be able to use them as a flesh wall against the freshly hatched monsters, but apparently that’s not how it works here. This wolfie right now confirmed it……!!!
「Vvvvvvooooooooo!!!」
「Grrrrrr…… Graaaaaawww!!!」
「Pqyaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!」
「Whoa, what is this, a death march full of wild animals…… But that’s not the time for jokes here!!!」
The first thought that comes to my head is: “Are they going to merge together with the main body?”
Could it be that we have accidentally raised some flags that we were unaware of……? No, could it be that this is some sort of a scripted event? It is entirely possible that when a certain amount of blood crystals is going to be destroyed, the rest of the monsters are going to hatch all at once.
「Holy shit…… This gives me flashback to the battle with Kutanid…… That bastard!」
No good, no good! I cannot do this! There is no way that a single player would be able to take on that many opponents all at once! How about it, tri-headed Tyranno? Want to lend me a hand with this one? Gaah! My bad! I was a fool thinking that you would have the same opinion as me on that subject!
Plus, it seems that the Great Red Devourer picked up on what was going on here…… Which is not all that surprising, judging by the fact that with that many heads and eyes, its field of view must have been quite wide…… and seeing the incoming reinforcements, it stretched out its necks and…… Started to rip the smaller monsters apart and gulping them down one by one.
Ahh, this situation could not possibly get any worse!
「Kuh……!!!」
I quickly changed my weapons to Scorpion Gauntlets and tried to use the Exceed Charge ability in order to stop the Great Red Devourer from wolfing down on the smaller monsters. However…… There was still a part of me that remembers that it ended rather poorly during the battle against Kutanid.
“What am I to do now, since I was unable to stop them with this!?”. “And since tri-headed Tyranno is here, surely it will be effective, combined with its destructive firepower! It has to be!” This is my ultimate trump card. It binds me in place, and once it goes off, I cannot use it for the duration of the next seven days. That is why I decided it was worth a try here.
And while I was rattling my head over this problem, the Great Red Devourer finished its quick feast.
「AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!」
「No way! There is just no way! You have got to be kidding mmmmmmeeeeee……!!!!!!!!!」
Hello everyone! This is your field reporter Sanraku speaking, live from the site! Currently ,we are flying through the sky as a result of the great shockwave that just exploded around the Great Red Devourer! It was totally not like a bunch of TNT just exploded right under our feet and the tri-headed Tyranno was totally not sent flying alongside me as well! Was that a scripted event? What about the fall damage? It worries me very much, so please allow me to actually take care of this matter myself.
「Kuh……!! Of course! Of course there would be fall damage here!! Why wouldn’t it be!!??」
A cow. A monkey. A jellyfish with tentacles resembling human legs. A long-legged crocodile. Eagle with two heads. And so on, and so forth…… For the time being , I counted eight…… no, fifteen creatures? All monsters. All of the same size. All with bright red bodies. All crushed, chewed and smashed into fine paste after being devoured by the Great Red Devourer.
My first priority here is to do recovery gacha. However, at the same time I cannot allow myself to take my eyes off of that something. And that is because……
「AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!」

The Great Red Devourer roars differently than before, and there is a huge tornado springing right out of its back. Also, inside the swirling tornado, there is a large amount of something small that keeps on spinning inside of the raging currents.
I see, I understand…… This is supposed to be your swan song, right? So that means this thing is actually your final form?
At least I sure hope so. Because if you are going to tell me that there is something more after that, I am genuinely going to cry here.
