ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 353 Part 2
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 353: Dragon! Dragon! Part 18 Part 2

It was exactly because of that that Deepslaughter was able to laugh like that right now. Or rather, she was not laughing at Sanraku, but at Tottori and his inability to grasp the true nature of the scene that played out right in front of their very eyes just now. When it comes to Tottori, looking for a possible explanation here, his mind was even going to simply dismiss this whole situation as a mere “Could it be that Sanraku is actually a fan of Deepslaughter-san? Who would have thought?” Just then, Tottori started to patch himself up in order to return to the frontlines as soon as possible. And while he was doing just that, his eyes reflexively turned towards Sanraku once more.

「…… So, I guess the rumors on the net were true, then? This is it, huh? The power of the player strong enough to take the Unique Monsters head on and emerging victorious from such grueling battles?」

「Who knows, not that I care about that in the first place……But I guess we will never truly know about that unless we ourselves face against a Unique Monster, don’t you think? It’s hard to call something relatable if you have no point that you can relate to, right?」

Well, when it comes to that, at least one thing they knew for sure here: if they ever wanted to challenge a Unique Monster in battle, it would be best for them to do so while having some sort of specialization up their sleeve, or maybe even over-specialization. Like maybe overspecialized mobility. Otherwise they could not even fathom how would they be able to oppose such strong enemies, possessing the strength of a natural cataclysm.

In the distance, Sanraku would continue to dance around the Great Red Devourer with incredible speed, attacking the tail of the beast time after time. Needless to say, after being cut clean, the tail of the Dragon regenerated instantly thanks to the swirl of red mist that came from the inside of the red tornado. Having a good feeling where this whole ordeal was going, Deepslaughter started to rummage through her inventory, until she found what she was looking for: a small wand that looked like nothing special, but there was something really ominous about it.

Tottori have never actually seen the object in question itself, but there is a certain rumor circulating amongst the players who managed to attain the highest rank of the Magic Caster class, which is the “Sage” profession. The description differed from person to person, with some people calling it a great staff, others calling it the reverse Mobius’s Strip, and others describing it as five floating monoliths that were orbiting around its wielder. However, even though this object in Deepslaughter’s hands was unlike any of those magnificent-sounding things, it’s aura was certainly something else. There was no way that this item was normal, and it surely must have been something unique. There was only one possible explanation for this thing, and it was then that Tottori silently uttered its name to himself.

「Realization Cane – The Desire –?」

「Oh my? Oh my, oh my! Tottori-kun, do you happen to know what this item is? That’s strange, and here I was, making sure that this item would be tucked away at the very bottom of my inventory and that I would hardly ever use it. And when I would use it, it would usually be without any witnesses…… Ah, could you keep the existence of this item a secret? That would really help me out, you know?」

「…… Eh? Really? So you’re telling me that this thing really is THAT The Desire!?」

The Cane of Realization – The Desire –.

It is a name that every player knows about, at least to some extent. But it is also true that it is more commonly known as the “Usurper”. And even though those names are fairly well known, the name and the appearance of the one attributed with them are something that many people have no clue about.

It was a reward for doing the unique quest “Ultima Gear Desire”, and the requirement for starting that quest was that the player had to obtain the rank of the “Sage”, the highest title possible for magic casters in the game. It was a quest which had the player go around the map, collecting ‘Ultimate Magic Fragments” from various NPCs. The reward for that quest was that specific item, The Desire, also known as the ultimate magic wand. …… For a specific amount of time, a whole lot of players were excited to underwent that quest and obtain the ultimate item like that.

The craze for that item was so big that even the Guild Master of the guild “Witchach”, a guild consisting only of magic casters, offered a tremendous amount of money to whoever possessed the staff to part with it.

However, the excitement regarding that item had burned away just as fast and hard as it was lit in the first place.

But the thing that the leader of “Witchach” saw at the coordinates of the shrine where the wand was supposed to be located after her subordinates obtained all of the “Ultimate Magic Fragments” was not quite what she was expecting.

It was the empty shrine with nothing but crap in it, the magic wand gone for good.

Ever since that day, there was a strict policy in “Witchach” that was not to be violated under any circumstances: they would accept every magic caster with normal wands and staffs, and the rarer ones was welcome as well. However, whoever would show up at their doorstep with The Desire in their hands, they would instantly get the boot. That’s how deep the grudge was.

「I must say, for a moment out there it was a very tempting offer…… So much money for a one item like that…… I won’t lie, I was about to sell it at one point, but……」

「So, does that mean that Deeplso-san really had an item like that!?」

「Yes, I guess that’s right……

「…… Eh? B-But that person is not really a wom……」

「He has both, that person. Trust me, I know what I’m saying. I have had a whole bunch of experience with people like that in the past before.」

At that exact moment, Tottori thought that something both terrifyingly unique and uncomfortably shocking had been revealed to him. Then, Deepslaughter brandished The Desire in her hands and started preparing the magic incantation. But there was something in her preparations that made Tottori sweat nervously a whole lot.

「R-Right, but for the time being let’s just leave it at that…… Say, Deepslo-san? Umm, how should I put it……? The thing is… about that spell of yours……」

「Hm? Are you perhaps talking about “Euros Babelio Angolmois”?」

「Yeah, that one! You said that it’s the magic that changes enemies into meteorites and drops them down, right!? How much radius does the attack like that have!? …… How far do we need to stay away from it to not get caught up in the blast!?」

If it was the kind of magic that required a special kind of catalyst to use, in this case an item such as The Desire, it was probably not some sort of range magic only. It must have been something even more powerful than that. At first Tottori was even concerned about Sanraku’s safety because of that very assumption, but after seeing just how quickly he could move around the battlefield, Tottori was feeling stupid for even worrying about Sanraku in the first place.

If that is indeed so, then what Tottori should be doing here is pretty obvious: he and the People of the Forest should evacuate from here immediately, so that they would not get dragged into the crossfire here……

「Should it not have been obvious that it was nothing but a lie? Changing the enemy into a meteorite? Ufufu…… You should have known that something like that is impossible to pull off.」

「………… Huh?」

The demon women responsible for destroying the MMO in which you could create your own magic spells laughed at seeing my apparent confusion.
