~The Night Before Lugh’s Departure~

Illig, whose true identity was Lugh Tuatha Dé, was to return to his real home tomorrow.

In preparation of his departure, we were going through final checks to transfer control of his cosmetic brand, Natural You, to me.

“And we’re done,” I said.

“Great. I leave it in your hands,” Illig replied.

“I won’t let you down. I’m confident I have the skill to protect your brand, but I won’t stop there. I’ll grow the brand even larger,” I declared.

“With you in charge, that wouldn’t surprise me,” Illig said with a gentle smile.

“I’m also thinking of expanding beyond this city. There is a very promising store in a nearby town. It’s the property of a company that used to be very successful but has fallen into decline since a change in management.”

That “promising store” was one of the establishments in Father’s old company.

Ever since Father’s right-hand man took over, the company had suffered failure after failure and quickly fell into financial trouble. It was one of the smaller stores, and it had been put up for sale after being judged as not particularly important.

However, it was the first store my father had built. As such, it held many memories for me. I was going to take back Father’s company. Taking that first shop was the first step toward that goal.

“Do as you like. I trust in your skill. I won’t tell you to keep personal feelings out of this, but if you do decide to follow your heart, make sure you succeed,” Illig instructed.

“Of course. I am your assistant, after all.”

Illig probably knew everything about my past and how I was trying to take back my father’s business. We hadn’t openly spoken about it, but I was certain he’d done thorough investigations on my origin.

Even with such knowledge, he still trusted me.

For that reason, I was determined to see my personal goal realized while also making a profit.

“If you do decide to follow your heart, make sure you succeed.” Hearing Illig say that only made me love him more.

Choosing to follow this abnormal boy down this strange road was definitely the right choice.

“Master Illig, Master Maha, I brought some tea.”

“Thank you.”

The kid who brought us tea had previously lived with me in the same orphanage and had even been one of my business partners back when I’d lived on the streets. Recently, I’d been rescuing different children from the orphanage by hiring them into the Balor Company.

“About that thing you asked me for. If I can get it, will you go on a date with me?”

“Only if you don’t try anything afterward.”

“That’s unfortunate.”

Illig and I laughed.

My lifelong dreams were at last within my grasp, and it was all thanks to my dear brother. That’s why I’d decided that no matter what the future held for me, I’d dedicate the rest of my life to helping Illig, even if that meant dying for him.

I hoped that perhaps one day, once I’d achieved my objective, Illig would see me not as his assistant but as a lover.

For that purpose, I resolved myself to work hard to meet his expectations.
