AFTERWORD

Hullo, Kumo Kagyu here! I hope you enjoyed Volume 14 of Goblin Slayer. This time, goblins appeared on the northern sea, and Goblin Slayer had to slay them.

Stories of heroism have been set in such places since the days of Conan the Barbarian. If this book was to spark your interest in such stories, I would be very happy indeed.

I’ve mentioned before in these afterwords about a campaign I’m in where I play a character who’s only good at shooting arrows. After years of safely and successfully playing this character, I’m reminded again and again that TRPGs are really great. A boy who just liked to bullshit people about being a hero is now running all over helping the town. But he couldn’t do it alone, so he enlisted the aid of a bunch of other people, relied on his friends, and finally found he had, in fact, become a hero.

The Four-Cornered World has lots of adventurers, too—and heroes—each with their own stories. Goblin Slayer might be the main character of these books, but he’s not the center of this world. Hero, the runners, and even the northern goði and his húsfreya, and the adventurers on the frontier. What they do is an equally important part of the story.

I’d be glad if you also picked up Dai Katana, which is another side of the entire tale. I can only apologize for keeping you waiting for the final volume.

If you want to become one of these adventurers, there’s going to be a supplement published for the Goblin Slayer TRPG. And if you want to watch these adventurers, there’s going to be a second season of the Goblin Slayer anime.

What a world, huh? No one is more surprised than I am. First my work becomes a manga, then an anime and TRPG, then there’s a theatrical movie and a supplement and a second season… It all just seems incredible to me. It’s certainly not something you get to experience every day.

Like everything else, all this was possible only because of everyone cheering me on, so thank you all so much.
