Jiang Yuning asked, “What if I can’t get through?”

The doctor seemed extra eager to leave the room after he was done with his examination. He was afraid that Jiang Yuning would continue talking to him.

Luosang was clutching her stomach as she helplessly tried to hold back her laughter.

Just as she was done laughing, Jiang Yuning turned to her and took out his little notepad, “Sorry, can I trouble you to write down all of your contact details? Apart from your handphone number, your QQ, WeChat, email address, Facebook, Tantan, Momo…”

Luosang was speechless.

She then realized how with the doctor from earlier on had felt and empathized with him.

Nian Xi cleared her throat and said with amusement, “I didn’t know that you know about Tantan and Momo as well. I thought you don’t even have a QQ mailbox?”

“I went online and searched for the most trendy and popular ways people stay in contact nowadays. I’m just worried that something like this happens again in the future, so I want to know how to reach all the people around you,” Jiang Yuning said seriously.

Nian Xi rolled her eyes, “Besides you, it’s pretty easy to get in touch with everyone else—just a phone call will do.”

“I will do better…” Jiang Yuning said sadly.

Luosang laughed to ease the atmosphere, “It’s alright. Men always take a while to grow and learn. This is Professor Jiang’s first relationship, after all. There’s no way to get it perfectly right the first time. I think from now on, you will be contactable 24/7 by phone, am I right?”

Jiang Yuning nodded his head vigorously. Xixi’s sister-in-law was such a lovely person.

Nian Xi glanced sideways at Jiang Yuning and said, “Forget about Momo or Tantan. Do you know what those platforms are for? It’s for people to… get in “touch” with each other.”

Jiang Yuning was confused. “Touch what?”

Luosang let out a forced cough—she didn’t want to be any part of that conversation. “Um… I’m going out to make a phone call.”

She would’ve become a real lightbulb in the room if she had stayed any longer.

After the door closed behind Luosang, Nian Xi inhaled sharply and explained, “Touch you all over your body. I’m talking about strangers and casual sex.”

Jiang Yuning frowned deeply and shook his head. “I won’t use it anymore then.”

“Mm,” said Nian Xi as she shut her eyes. She had spoken too much, and she was feeling a little out of breath.

Jiang Yuning sat closer to her bed now that the door was closed. He held Nian Xi’s cold hands and asked softly, “Xixi, does it hurt a lot?”

“… Yes,” Nian Xi replied softly.

Jiang Yuning bit his lips. He didn’t know what to do. He hated to see her in pain, but he didn’t know what else he could do to make her feel better. “Xixi, it’s all my fault. I was too careless. I should have made a bulletproof helmet and pants for you too.”

Nian Xi burst into laughter but winced in pain right after she did. She had to endure the pain as she asked, “A bulletproof helmet? Do you want me to look like a bank robber?”

“Don’t laugh, I’m serious.” Jiang Yuning pursed his lips seriously. “I really want to beat up that guy who hurt you.”

“Justice will be will be served.” Nian Xi shook her head, “Don’t worry, you modified the bulletproof vest really well for me. The doctor said that the bullet would have gone right through my chest if it wasn’t for the vest. I’m lucky to have you by my side.”

Jiang Yuning winced when she talked about a bullet passing through her chest. “Xixi, are you still mad at me? You aren’t upset anymore that I wasn’t the first person by your bedside when you woke up?”

“Who cares if you’re the first person I see?” Nian Xi rolled her eyes. “I wanted to see my parents more badly.”
