Chapter 3 – You Reap What You Sow

Translated by H0RR1BL3CPU

“And if someone did?” I subconsciously asked.
“If it gets worshiped well, then nothing. But if it doesn’t, and the Yin Spirit inside is displeased, that person will be in deep shit. If they’re lucky, it’ll just be a serious illness. If not, it could lead to the death of one’s entire family, or worse![1]
” Xiao Ya said.
“Are you serious? It’s just a tantric amulet, is it really that vicious?” I couldn’t believe it.
“That’s what my second uncle said. He’s a merchant that sells tantric amulets. He is very well versed in these kinds of things. I’m begging you, don’t mess around. Tantric amulets aren’t something to play around with, especially not Yin Amulets!” Xiao Ya warned.
Being shocked by her, I grew a bit superstitious and asked, “This Yin Amulet is my friend’s, and recently he’s met with some trouble. Since your second uncle is an expert, can I get a meeting with him? There’s something I need help with.”
“Alright, I’ll help you check. When the time comes, you two can talk about it personally.”
Xiao Ya replied with a single sentence, then hung up. Shortly after, she sent me a message, saying her second uncle had agreed, and asked us to bring along the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess” and meet him at Qiaonan South Station.
Lastly, she gave me her second uncle’s phone number.
After everything was arranged, I rushed to Qiaonan South Station at the break of dawn the following day. To avoid damaging the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”[2]
, I specially dressed it up in a shoebox.
After waiting for about half an hour, Xiao Ya’s second uncle arrived at the meeting place.
His surname was Liu, and his given name Fu. He was slightly over fifty and seemed quite likeable at first glance. He was short, fat, and had beady eyes. When he smiled, you could see a big golden tooth.
After meeting up, it became obvious that Liu Fu was an especially warm person. He kept going “little brother” this and “little brother” that, it was as if he was extremely familiar with me.
After making some small talk with him, I didn’t beat around the bush and directly brought out the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”. Then I asked, “Uncle Liu, you are a knowledgeable person, so I want to ask, what exactly is this “Ever Tyrannical Goddess” tantric amulet used for?”
Liu Fu picked up the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess” and scrutinized it for awhile before saying with sparkling eyes, “Xiao Wang, this “Ever Tyrannical Goddess” belongs to the Yin Amulet subcategory of tantric amulets. It’s effects are quite potent, and it is generally used to grasp someone’s heart. To be more specific, if you like a woman, then after praying to the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”, you need to get something from that woman’s body. Afterwards, you have to chant a special mantra to make a request of the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”. As long as there are no accidents, there’s a large chance of your dreams becoming reality.”
“It’s that formidable?” I held some disbelief.
“You are young, and there are many things you have not seen, so it’s normal for you to not believe it. Yin Amulets are different from the Proper Amulets found in temples. Proper Amulets are blessed by White Robed Azzans, and their usage is more proper, with no danger at all, so you can use it as you wish. But Yin Amulets are different. Yin Amulets are mostly made with sinister and evil things. For example, a dead person’s ashes, human oil created from a decomposing body, human flesh, or the umbilical cord. Even worse, many Black Robed Azzans[3] would put a Yin Spirit in the Yin Amulets. The effects are especially potent, but if by any chance the prayer isn’t done well, the person using it will meet with a brutal end.”
Liu Fu said with a smile, “Let’s talk about this “Ever Tyrannical Goddess” then. Its constituents are very Yin[4], and its effects are abnormally potent. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that if you pray to it, the person you like will be hell bent on you, and do whatever you say.”
Hearing this, I immediately felt terrified.
To be honest, I normally wouldn’t believe his words at all. But after seeing the things happening to Li Fan, I was growing a bit superstitious.
To be able to stab his own mother for the sake of Zhang Li…… If it wasn’t because of this “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”, then there’d really be no way to explain it.
Thinking of this, I immediately spoke, “Uncle Liu, I won’t hide things from you. This “Ever Tyrannical Goddess” is something I stole from a woman. This woman has harmed my friend greatly. I want to ask, how do I turn my friend back to normal?”
“This is a bit troublesome…… To make your friend return to normal, you need to find one of the more formidable Azzan Masters and have them re-enchant this thing. I reckon you’ll probably have to head to Thailand, and the enchantment will definitely be quite expensive.” Liu Fu said.
When I heard there was a way, I disregarded etiquette and immediately gave Li Fan a call. After all, I wasn’t exactly rich either. For these kinds of costly things, he’d have to decide whether or not to bankroll.
Right after he picked up, I immediately told him everything I understood.

He himself probably knew that something was wrong, so when he heard what I had to say, he immediately believed it.
He told me that money wasn’t a problem and that as long as the problem was solved, he’d be willing to spend any amount.
Hearing his words, I had gained confidence and spoke to Liu Fu. “Uncle Liu, my friend is willing to spend the money. But, we’ll need you to run around a bit. After all, we lack understanding in these matters and have no contacts in Thailand. After everything is sorted out, we will definitely thank you properly.”
As soon as Liu Fu heard those words, his eyes shone. He drafted up a certificate of guarantee on the spot and said he’d definitely handle things.
With Liu Fu’s help assured, I sighed a breath of relief.
To avoid another accident, I had Li Fan avoid Zhang Li and stop meeting her.
At first it was fine, there were no problems. But after being unable to find Li Fan for awhile, Zhang Li actually stirred up a fuss at the hospital.
When I reached the hospital, I saw Zhang Li and Li Fan’s father arguing.
At the time, Zhang Li’s expression was especially ugly, and her hair was dishevelled. She looked just like a shrew as she stood there and shouted non-stop. “Which one of you stole my stuff?! Who was it?! Hurry up and give it back!”
Li Fan’s father too had a belly full of fire as he cursed and swore and roared at Zhang Li, to the point where he was about to hit her. If a group of nurses wasn’t holding him back, Zhang Li would have no way to avoid being beaten into a bloody pulp.
After screaming for extended periods of time, Zhang Li’s throat was dry and her voice hoarse. And yet, she was still persistently asking who stole her stuff. She definitely looked like a nutjob to anyone who saw her.
Screaming and shouting in the hospital, it was natural that everyone would be displeased, so in the end, Zhang Li was kicked out.
While being ran out of the hospital, her face was filled with venomous hatred.
After two days, it was as if Zhang Li had disappeared. She never showed up.
This went on until the third day, when Li Fan suddenly gave me a call.
As soon as he spoke, he said, “Zhang Li’s gone crazy!”
I felt confused, so I asked him what happened.
Lin Fan sighed as he said, “I don’t know what happened either. It’s just that when I was going home last night, I saw her in the stairway. At the time, her clothes were ragged and her hair was dishevelled. She was squatting in a corner, crying. And while crying, she kept repeating words along the lines of “don’t hurt me” and “I didn’t do it on purpose”. When I called out to her, she suddenly stood up, grabbed my hand, and started screaming, “There’s a ghost! There’s a ghost!” with a terrified and shocked expression. Moreover, she didn’t recognize me at all then. And when she was screaming “ghost”, her expression was one of crying and laughing. After screaming for a while, she held her head and ran off. As she was running, I think I saw a shadow following her.”
Hearing Li Fan’s words, I immediately felt some pain in my heart. But at the time, I could only comfort him by saying he saw wrong.
Li Fan didn’t think too much about it, and after talking for awhile, he hung up.
At the time, I was especially surprised. How could someone perfectly fine for the past two days go crazy just like that? Could it really be an effect of the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”?
Thinking of this, I immediately gave Liu Fu a call. After hearing about this, Liu Fu laughed, “Xiao Wang, this is what Yin Amulets are like. Even though the effects of a prayer are so potent, if something goes wrong, the ending will be very serious. For Zhang Li to end up like this, is entirely her reaping what she sowed. She doesn’t deserve sympathy. I’ve seen many of this kind of people.”
Liu Fu’s words made me feel strange. But I had no idea how to reply.

[1] I swear, this is just like incredible tales. Maybe a bit darker or lewder, but more or less the same. That yin spirit thingy, basically a hantu.
[2]This can be read as to avoid being harmed by the “Ever Tyrannical Goddess”
[3]This probably isn’t the right term but I can’t think of one. The word used is 阿赞, and baidu, bing and google give transliterations.
[4] When used negatively, Yin of the twin dualities is commonly associated with sinister, cunning, evil and cold. Whereas Yang is associated with violent, unreasonable, tyrannical, domineering and overbearing.
Basically, bad Yin= sociopath, bad Yang= psychopath
