Chapter 142

(Damn it… why does that guy keep staying in the Northern Quarters…)

Abel looked in the mirror and fingered the freckles on his cheeks, complaining in his mind.

Abel had been complaining about the same thing ever since he became an apprentice knight.

He had been one of the boys who had tried to bully Heath as soon as he entered the Northern Quarters because he was from a poor family.

Such was the life of Abel’s apprentice knight that it was hard to say that things were going well.

As he didn’t like Heath and ignored him, Heath and the rest of the people in the Northern Quarters got along and Abel was left alone around instead.

His performance in the quarters was sluggish, his sword skills did not improve, and he even lost to Heath, his most hated opponent, in a mock battle.

(His strange movements make it hard to fight! I’d be stronger than you if we fought head on…!)

What’s even worse is that Boyan, the friend who tried to bully Heath with him, is now on Heath’s side.

“It’s time for you to stop being so stubborn and get along with him. I apologized and he forgave me, and when I talked to him, I found him to be a very nice guy. You make me ashamed of myself when I’m with you.”

When he remembered Boyan’s words, who was looking at him with a dumbfounded look, Abel was even more irritated.

(Why is everyone accepting that guy……..! It’s funny that you’re from a poor man’s habit of aiming for knighthood in the first place! He’s just a sneaky, impatient, cowardly guy. And he’s so cocky for such a small guy. And yet he still manages to get along with Gormus and Kooine. And he gets along with the maidservants because he’s a bit better looking…!)

For Abel, whose status was commoner but whose blood was related to the baronial family, it was unbelievable that a poor man with no status, not even a commoner, would be a knight. Moreover, to join that coveted 18th Knight Squadron…

The same goes for the maidservants. He thought that it was a nice touch when he heard that they had a fight with Heath, whispering about him. However, he heard that they had already made up with each other. Even Leviena, who was a little concerned about the maidservants, is good friends with Heath.

He wonders what’s good about a guy like that.

He was going to live a glorious life after he joined the apprentice knights. He thought that he would join the ranks of all of them and eventually move up among them to become the first knight, but if he doesn’t, he’s going to fall off the wagon by himself.

It’s all Heath’s fault. If it wasn’t for him, he thinks that he’s apprentice knight life would have been much better.

Today, he was walking around the Northern Quarters alone, and saw Heath talking with some other apprentice knights about going downtown.

Heath has been doing all sorts of fun things with the people in theNorthern Quarters, whereas Abel has hardly ever gone with anyone. It came naturally to him when he avoided Heath’s presence.

Abel couldn’t help but look resentfully at him, and his eyes met with Heath’s.

Unsurprisingly, Heath smiled and spoke to him.

“Oh, Abel. I’m going downtown now, would you like to go with me?”

Abel turned red in the face and yelled back at Heath.

“Who would with you!”

It’s because of Heath that he can’t go play with other people in the first place. And yet he’s talking to him with a smile on his face like he doesn’t care about anything. He is sure that he’s smiling, but in his gut he must be making fun of him.

He’s from a poor man’s background and is a crooked man. It must be so.

As Abel was about to return to his room in anger, he heard the voices of the other apprentice knights from his back.

“Let’s leave that guy alone. Even if we ask him out, he won’t come anyway.”

“Umm, but I think he really wants to go…”

“Goddamn, you’re such a good boy!”

(You’re actually making fun of me!)

Abel’s mood became even worse when he heard Heath’s words in his own defense.

Such was the group of Abel who remained in the Northern Quarters for the long holidays.

Even if he went back to his parents’ house, his nagging mother would say many things to him, and he would only be forced to take care of his younger brother and sister. He didn’t do well in the knightly corps, and it wasn’t something that he wanted to go home too much.

(Damn, if only Heath wasn’t there…)

He’s going to Kooine’s house for a long vacation, but he wishes that he doesn’t come back as it is.

Abel, who didn’t even fit in with the other innkeepers because Heath was gone, was walking around the Royal Palace in his spare time. Then.

(Is that Heath?)

He found the back of Heath, who must have left his quarters in the north a little before noon.

Moreover, he was in a hurry, perhaps because he was in a hurry, he didn’t even look around, but he ran towards somewhere in the castle with a suspicious movement as if he was hiding.

”What, he’s the one who…”

That’s what Abel wondered, but then he came up with an idea.

Maybe he’s doing something that he wants to keep secret. That poor bastard, he must be doing something that he can’t tell people about. He might have a weakness, Abel thought.

With that thought in mind, Abel immediately went after Heath’s back.

However, he lost sight of him on the way.

(Damn, you speedy guy….)

Abel lost sight of Heath’s back as he walked in that direction and arrived in front of a single building. It was a small building surrounded by walls, even though it was inside the castle.

(Is this the rear palace where the side consort from the country of Fiiru-sama is said to be located?)

Her entourage, whose name is confusingly similar to that of Fiiru-sama, is said to be Princess Fiiru’s sister. She has a bad character and an ugly face, and is sometimes rumored in Auster to be a nasty woman who tried to interfere with her sister’s marriage plans. Apparently, she doesn’t look anything like Master Fiiru.

As a matter of fact, Abel met Master Fiiru once with his own eyes. It was when Master Fiiru participated in a Placeti ceremony, and although he was an apprentice knight, he was allowed to participate in a security mission. Although he could only see it from a distance, even from a distance he could tell that Fiiru-sama was truly beautiful and noble, and Abel became an instant fan.

Being able to participate in that mission was one of the few things that Abel was proud of in his apprentice knightly life.

Then, he somehow looked up and realized.

(That’s something Heath uses a lot!)

The walls of the rear palace were swaying with the hooked rope that Heath often used to catch on the walls.

(How could this be…)

Abel had no idea why Heath would want to climb the walls of a building with only a side queen in. Had he gone to see the face of his side queen, who was rumored to be ridiculously ugly?

Doubtfully, Abel decided to climb the hookah and see what Heath was up to. Maybe he could see the moment when Heath was doing a definitive evil deed.

He put his hand on the rope and started to climb.

The first part was fine. Confused by the unfamiliar motions, he grabbed the cord and kicked the wall and Abel climbed up it. But, as he climbed higher and higher, the situation changed.

The moment he was more than halfway up and aware of how high he was going, he began to feel like his feet weren’t touching the wall very well for some reason, and he couldn’t grip the rope with his hands anymore. It was slippery and sweaty. Abel’s body suddenly began to shake unsteadily.

(Oh, no…!)

He thought that he was going down, but his hands were shaking and the hooked rope was unstable. If it came off on the way down, such a horrible premonition crossed his mind.

Whether he thought that or not, the grappling rope rattled for a moment and moved a little. His spine gasped.

Abel’s hands stopped involuntarily as he climbed, but the moment a slightly strong wind blew, he began to desperately fumble his way up the rope with his trembling hands. His center of gravity and posture were already messed up, and the grappling rope was rattling so hard that it could come loose and fall to the ground at any moment.

He is not going to be the only one who can do it, but he is going to be the only one who can do it.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!”

He slipped and fell to the inside of the wall.
