372 The true nature of the explosion sound

I ran towards Mr. Orford, the head of the magician's guild, who seemed to be collapsing, and I was thinking of activating Extra Heal right away.

However, there was a strong wind barrier that could be seen around Mr. Orford, so there was a risk that activating Extra Heal would have some kind of effect on the barrier.

The Pope must have thought the same way.

I stopped in front of the barrier and called out to Mr. Orford over and over again. But Mr. Orford did not respond.

“If you put up a barrier like this, there is no doubt that you are being attacked.”

"Unfortunately, it seems that way. I don't know if it's a human, a demon, or a monster..."

Even when I checked my surroundings, I couldn't find any attacks that tried to break the barrier, or even the shadow of one.

I can't just leave it like this, so I decided to try teleporting.

“Pope, I will try to teleport, so please help me.”

"Hmm"

I borrowed the Pope's help and tried activating teleportation magic.

Then, it seemed to be able to teleport successfully, and I was able to teleport right next to where Mr. Orford was lying.

However, the amount of magical power that was transferred to the nearby area was incomparable to what it was before, and the magical power was consumed to the point of exhaustion all at once.

I immediately took out my magic crystal ball and activated Extra Heal on Mr. Orford while recovering his magical power, but Mr. Orford did not wake up.

He was just breathing, so I felt a little relieved.

By creating such a strong barrier, his magical power was depleted, and he probably collapsed due to the recoil that reduced his physical strength.

"It looks like your magic power has run out."

"Hmm. Looks like Oru-kun will be fine with this."

The Pope sat down next to Mr. Orford as he collapsed and patted Mr. Orford on the head.

He looks like a grandson patting his sleeping grandfather, but Mr. Orford, the head of the magician's guild, and the Pope have lived in the same timeline.

"Mr. Pope, Mr. Orford seems to be safe, so let's put him in the hermit's coffin."

"I guess so."

I take out the hermit's coffin key from my magic bag and open it. The Pope then picked up Mr. Orford and placed him in the coffin.

“Ol-kun, see you later.”

After saying this, the Pope closed the lid of the coffin.

Immediately after leaving the hermit's space, the Pope gives instructions.

"Luciel, this wind barrier is strong. However, whether you can feel safe or not is another matter."

“Then, activate the Sanctuary Barrier inside the Wind Barrier!? Pope, please lie down.”

It was when I casually looked up at the sky as I worked up my magical power to activate a strong sanctuary barrier.

A tremendously powerful thunderbolt struck the top of the wind barrier directly from above.

I cut my gaze at the dazzling light and roar.

Then I realized that this was the explosion sound I had been hearing regularly for some time.

I immediately activated the Sanctuary Barrier and checked the surroundings, only to find that the wind barrier, which had been so strong, had become weak.

The wind barrier will most likely disappear if the previous blow falls again.

Of course, I think it's a little safer since I created a sanctuary barrier that has strong resistance to magic.

Still, I was worried that the lightning strike from earlier wasn't mixed with miasma or dark attribute magic.

“Pope, there was a lightning strike just now!? What happened?”

The Pope covered his ears with his palms and was trembling as he crouched down like a baby.

I can't imagine that the Pope, who wields magic more powerful than lightning, is afraid of thunder, and I don't understand why the Pope is afraid of it.

"Luciel couldn't hear it. The screams of the spirits..."

The Pope turned to me, looking like he was enduring pain.

"The scream...was that the lightning strike earlier?"

“That was probably an attack using a spirit stone.”

"What!? Are you still developing weapons using spirit stones?"

I was quite shocked by the Pope's words.

Previously, when Nerdal was contaminated by a miasma, the demons were collaborating with researchers from the Principality of Brange who were developing magical tools to develop weapons using spirit stones.

At that time, I had been brainwashed, so I limited myself to putting pressure on the researchers to stop any further research using spirit stones.

However, originally they had to convince the duke of the Duchy of Blanges or the person who ruled the Duchy of Blanges.

I was preoccupied with preventing demons from entering Nerdal and other areas, and I trusted the conscience of those who were researching spirit stones.

However, no matter how much he feels guilty about his conscience, if his family and friends are used as shields, he has no choice but to continue his research.

"I'm sorry, Pope. If I had dealt with the Duchy of Brange more firmly when I found out about the research into using spirit stones as weapons..."

"Don't blame yourself. Besides, the main reason was that the concubine was a pope in the first place. More than that, we can't let the spirits suffer any more."

“Is there any countermeasure?”

My current attack didn't include miasma, and I wasn't able to detect magical power in advance.

"It's okay. I already know where the attack came from. Although I regained my strength for the first time in a while, I was confused about what to do because it was blank, but I woke up when I heard the screams of the spirits. Tanoja.”

“Then please give me your instructions.”

However, there was no response from the Pope, and just as the presence of being intimidated grew, the Pope held the staff of the World Tree with both hands and raised it into the sky.

"[The countless spirits that live on this planet, the guides of the brave, the spirits that control the universe, bring down the hammer of judgment on those who are plotting to pollute your fellow humans and eliminate their existence. Order Judgment]"

When the Pope finished chanting, a ball of light containing a huge amount of energy appeared from the tip of the World Tree's staff, swelled and rose, then burst into countless pieces of light and fell down.

The light also falls inside Nerdal, and even close to it, the sound of something popping can be heard.

However, even the Pope, who wielded a magic equal to or better than the forbidden Revive, could not get by for nothing.

Like Mr. Orford, the head of the magician's guild, he must have run out of magical power, so I immediately supported the Pope's body as it began to collapse and sent out magic crystals to help him recover, while I used Extra Heal to help him recover. Try not to lose your physical strength.

"Pope, why did you use such powerful magic?"

"Ha, ha, if it's Luciel, ha, ha, he can overcome the evil god even without the power of a concubine, ha, ha, that's what I've decided."

Even though I was out of breath, the Pope looked at me and laughed.

She seems to be feeling sick due to the depletion of her magical power, but as she holds the magical crystal ball and her magical power begins to recover, her breathing becomes calmer.

"Trust is heavy. Anyway, what about the magic from earlier?"

"A spirit that has just been born without a sense of self yet... Father called it a young spirit, and he has given it magical power to save his fellow countrymen who are suffering."

“Even if you gave it to me… did you use it even though you didn’t know how much magical power you would need?”

"Luciel would have done the same thing to save them, right? Spirits are like family to a concubine, so it's only natural to save them."

If you say that, you won't be able to say anything. However, from the bottom of his heart, he is glad that the Pope is alive.

"Ah, I understand. Then, let's immediately collect the magic tools that amplify magical power and join up with Rumina and the others."

"Hmm"

I thought about holding the Pope like a princess, but I decided that it would be dangerous if he were attacked, so I decided to throw my weight on my back and jump into the well.

“Pope, please sit on my back.”

"It's nostalgic."

I was a little nervous about carrying the Pope on my back, but I could feel the joy of carrying the Pope on my back.

That somehow made me smile and relieved my nervousness.

"Then let's go."

"Hmm"

And so I jumped into the well with the Pope on my back.

Thank you for reading.

Thank you very much for your comments.

Now that I have a period of time, I can write without worrying about sentences that once disappeared without leaving a plot behind them. However, I am disappointed that there is no sense of speed in the development, which is a drawback that I did not write about.

I will do my best to write and deliver as much as possible so that you can enjoy it.
