Legend of Legend – Chapter 15

Posted on July 3, 2016

<Legend of Legend-Jungle(2) >

He knew what was coming, but he had a hard time getting used to it. The sharp light covered his retina. Since this wasn’t his first time, he had covered both of his eyes with his hands, and it seemed to help. The light disappeared, and time passed. Lee-joonhyuk slowly removed his fingers, then he opened his eyes.

“Well, I’m back again.”

Unlike his words, he didn’t want to be back here again. He’ll have to put his life on the line in this place.

The room was surrounded by a soft white light, and a number was being displayed on one side of the room.

780G.

He could guess what it was. It was the gold one can only earn in this place. The Dimensional Currency was being shown.
Lee-joonhyuk looked around carefully to see what else had changed, and he knew his armor had changed. It was a bit thicker than the last one, but he couldn’t feel its weight.

“Did my probability of survival increase this time?”

Although, Atlan could basically shred through this armor like paper if he wanted to. The only thing he can trust was his own barrier.

Lee-joonhyuk looked down at his leg. The broken shin bones was probably all better now.

“I’ll have to pretend to be a patient.”

After he finished checking his status, a low voice was heard. It was a very alluring voice, but it was a voice he didn’t want to hear.

-Congratulations on being summoned to the Canyon of Death.

There were many locations on the Dimensional Battlefield, but he had arrived at the Canyon of Death this time. It could be seen as being fortunate. He had spent around one month at the Canyon of Death.

While he was calming his heart, a two handed sword suddenly appeared in front of him.

“Is it a two-handed sword?”

He wasn’t given a sword and a shield. Lee-joonhyuk slightly frowned at the two handed sword. How many opportunities would Lee-joonhyuk have to actually be on the offensive? He wished he had a thicker shield instead, but not everything could turn out how he wanted.

-Please use the middle exit to leave.

Lee-joonhyuk had no choice, but to pick up the two handed sword. Soon, a door formed on one side of the room. Lee-joonhyuk entered through the door, and at that moment, he heard a different voice.

-Novice No. 007. Depart.

Lee-joonhyuk laughed bitterly. As Vera had said, when a minion awakens to one ability, one becomes a Novice. Until now there had been over a hundred thousand people who died in the Dimensional Battlefield, but it really seemed like only 7 people including him had awakened to an ability.
Lee-joonhyuk headed outside as he lightly warmed up. When he went outside, he saw the sight of shocked minions like last time. However, everyone was a little bit shorter than him. He turned his head in puzzlement when Lee-joonhyuk compared his height to the others.

“Did I grow taller?”

While Lee-joonhyuk was tilting his head in confusion, he was able to see a large man appear. It was a familiar face. It was Atlan.

When he showed up, he looked through the Minions. When his met eyes with Lee-joonhyuk, he grinned.

“You. Follow me.”

Everyone’s gaze turned toward Lee-joonhyuk. Lee-joonhyuk walked toward him, and he queried.

“Am I the only one who should follow you?”

“No. From you to you, follow me.”

Atlan only pointed towards 10 people. It was significantly less people than before. Before he could ask anything, a man stepped forward.

“What?”

It was a blond man with rough features. When he stepped forward, Lee-joonhyuk frantically moved his body. He knew Atlan’s personality, so Lee-joonhyuk wanted to prevent the other’s death.
However, Atlan was faster than he thought.

Boom!

Atlan’s lept and fell on the man, and he became a bloody mess. The surrounding people quickly retreated.  Atlan spoke as he got up.

“Follow me.”

Lee-joonhyuk let out a sigh. If possible, he didn’t want these people to die, but he wasn’t in a position to argue with Atlan. Moreover, he had seen too many souls die in the previous Dimensional Battlefield, so it didn’t trouble his heart as much. (TLN: he became desensitized)

Atlan stepped forward, and the ten people he chose followed nervously after him. Lee-joonhyuk also moved his feet after him. When they left through the door, he saw the same castle wall. Atlan walked quickly out the castle wall, then he turned around to look at them.

“Don’t lag behind.”

After saying this, he turned his back to them. Atlan stepped forward, and Lee-joonhyuk nervously followed closely behind him. Even though he had been here once, he couldn’t let his guard down.
This place was the Dimensional Battlefield. It wouldn’t be strange if one lost one’s head at any moment.

Atlan ran a certain distance outside of the castle wall, then he immediately ran into the forest. Lee-joonhyuk was taken aback by this, so he closed the distance between Atlan.

“Where are you going?”

Atlan gave a short reply.

“Follow me.”

Since he was very familiar with Atlan’s personality, he followed without saying anything. However, the people behind him didn’t do the same. A very nervous person approached him as they followed Atlan.

Was she around 17 years old? The young girl had memorable large eyes, and she was wearing thick armor. She approached him to speak to him.

“Are you Korean?”

There wasn’t an auto translation on the Dimensional battlefield. If one wanted to use the auto translation then one had to buy the translation pill from the merchants that existed on the Dimensional Battlefield. However, only heroes like Atlan could afford to buy one and eat it. For a single pill, one needed 100 gold, so what else need to be said?

Lee-joonhyuk nodded his head towards the girl who spoke to him.

“I am.”

“W, where is this place?”

Lee-joonhyuk turned back to look at Atlan. He was already running with a sizeable lead. All the others were watching Lee-joonhyuk and the girl. First, Lee-joonhyuk knew nothing good would come from getting farther away from Atlan. The forest had wolves and other monsters. If he encountered them, he would probably die. Lee-joonhyuk had merely awakened to one ability, so it would be impossible for him to face off against the monsters inside this forest. Lee-joonhyuk ran toward Atlan as he spoke.

“I’ll answer all your question in due time, so just follow him.”

First, it was important for them not to lose sight of Atlan. Lee-joonhyuk lead the 10 Minions, and they hurriedly followed after him.

When Lee-joonhyuk didn’t say anything else, everyone followed him in silence. They didn’t dare speak to Atlan, so they followed without complaining.

They had arrived inside the inner part of the forest. When Atlan raised his hand, everyone stopped.

In front of them, there was a pack of wolves. Lee-joonhyuk asked a question when he saw the 10 wolves.

“Are we going to attack them?”

“Yes.”

“Even though there are 10 of them?”

Atlan spoke as he nodded his head.

“Use your body.”

Lee-joonhyuk stepped forward after he sighed.

“Ten seconds.”

“I know.”

Lee-joonhyuk took a deep breath then he darted off in a straight line. The wolves felt Lee-joonhyk’s presence, so they turned to look at him. Lee-joonhyuk knew how precious the 10 seconds was, so he was cautious on when to deploy his barrier.

Amongst the ten ox-sized wolves, one ran toward him first. When the wolf was about to bite Lee-joonhyuk, he activated his barrier. The ivory colored light covered Lee-joonhyuk in a flash. The wolf opened its mouth and it bit down, but the barrier didn’t break.

Lee-joonhyuk firmly gripped his two handed sword, then he thrust it at the wolf. The two handed sword pierced deeply into the mouth of the wolf, which was wide open outside the barrier.

Keh-eng~

Lee-joonhyuk twisted the two handed sword, then he ran forward. He still had 6 seconds left. As Lee-joonhyuk ran toward the wolves once again, Atlan revealed himself behind the wolves.

Poohwaaaak.

The wolves caught in the arc of Atlan’s sword was chopped up into two pieces. During all of this, Lee-joonhyuk had thrust his sword into the last surviving wolf’s head.

After becoming a Novice, he had received this two handed sword, and it seemed to have a higher offensive power. He was able to kill the wolf in one blow.

Atlan looked around his surrounding once, then he turned around to speak to me.

“We’ll rest for a little bit.”

Lee-joonhyuk picked up the gold coins that was leftover when they killed the wolves. Lee-joonhyuk picked up two gold coins for himself, and four gold coins for Atlan. When Atlan sat down to rest, Lee-joonhyuk asked a question.

“What is your plan?”

“We’ll pass through the forest then we’ll aim for the enemy’s flank.”

Lee-joonhyuk looked behind as he queried.

“We are going to do so with this few numbers?”

“Except for you, they won’t be of any help any ways.”

Atlan spoke as he glanced at Lee-joonhyuk.

“You must have worked hard.”

“I have to return alive.”

Atlan recognized it when he looked at Lee-joonhyuk. He had increased his physical ability through the method he taught him. Now that he had increased his physical ability he would be able to grow his soul’s ability again.

Atlan spoke calmly.

“We’ll embark after a 3 minute break.”

“Yes.”

Lee-joonhyuk headed towards the Minions. They were taken aback at Lee-joonhyuk’s ability to kill ox-sized wolves.

Lee-joonhyuk looked over them, and he settled his gaze on the girl.

“What is your name?”

“My name is Kim-sarang.” (TLN: Sarang = Love, bit of a quirky name)

First, Lee-joonhyuk gave her an explanation.

“Our bodies are currently experiencing Abnormal Sleeping Disorder.”

“The Abnormal Sleeping Disorder?”

Lee-joonhyuk nodded his as he continued to speak.

“I don’t have time for a long explanation, so I’ll speak concisely. If I have another chance, then I’ll give you a longer explanation. Currently, we are in our soul state, and we have entered into the Dimensional Battlefield. If we die here, our soul will cease to exist. Then our body will go into a comatose state.”

Kim-sarang’s eyes opened wide. Her eyes were already big yet her eye became larger. He thought it made her look cuter.  (TLN: large eyes are an attractive trait in Korea)

“How do you know this?”

“This is my second time here.”

“What?”

Lee-joonhyuk continued to speak calmly.

“Focus on survivng. If you survive, then you’ll be able to wake up again.”

“Is it possible?”

“If you are lucky, you might be able to awaken your ability. It increases the probability of you surviving.”

“What do you mean by ability?”

Lee-joonhyuk spoke after smiling lightly. Then he looked to the others as he spoke.

“Anyone know how to speak English?”

“I’m able to carry on a simple conversation.”

“Then please translate what I said. Also, please tell them the most important thing here is to survive.”

“I will.”

Kim-sarang stepped forward, and she started explaining the situation in English. There were those who didn’t understand English, so they used gestures to communicate. They seem to somewhat understand what she was saying.

Lee-joonhyuk approached Atlan. Atlan looked at Lee-joonhyuk, and he indicated him to speak. Lee-joonyuk opened his mouth.

“There has been a progress in my ability.”

Atlan showed interest in his words.

“How? Did the duration increase? Or did the delay shorten?”

Instead of answering, Lee-joonhyuk raised his hand towards Atlan. Then he focused his mind, and he thought about protecting Atlan.

Atlan’s eyes widened when the ivory colored barrier surrounded his body. Then he unsheathed his sword, and he swung it around.

If one had the ivory colored barrier around one’s body, it was an absolute defense against external attacks. It was a barrier capable of blocking physical and magical attacks.
Moreover, it was possible to attack from inside the barrier.

Atlan made a rare smile.

“If we use this well, we might profit.”

“Then we are fortunate.”

“How far can you use this?”

“I haven’t verified it yet.”

“Let’s confirm it on our next hunt.”

“Yes.”

Atlan stood up, and he spoke.

“We are moving.”

Atlan spoke first then he started to move. Lee-joonhyuk looked back at the Minions. They all seemed to have heard the explanation. It was hard to see Atlan as a human, but Lee-joonhyuk had already survived once in this hell hole. If they followed Atlan, they knew they had a chance to survive. Their eyes sparkled as they put their hopes on them.

Lee-joonhyuk felt burdened by their gazes. It was hard enough to take care of himself in this harsh Dimensional Battlefield. He didn’t have confidence that he’ll be able to save the others.

“Let us move.”

Lee-joonhyuk and the ten Minions followed Atlan as they started to move.
