<Legend of Legend (LOL)-New Employee(1) >

“That child is not allowed.”

“Mother. I love Hae-sook.”

“That child is your sister.” (TLN: Kdrama!)

His mind was still in the process of returning, but what kind of ridiculous plot is this! Lee-joonhyuk opened his eyes as he raised his head. He frowned from the sensation of stickiness on his face.

Zzeeeeek.

When he touched his cheek, the cider he spilled before had dried. Lee-joonhyuk turned his gaze towards the television. The news had finished, and the evening drama was on.

Lee-joonkyuk took out his hand phone. As he checked the time, he let out a forced laugh.

“Only one hour had passed?”

Lee-joonhyuk briefly closed his eyes at the difference in time. His soul had suffered through the Canyon of Death for a month. However, in reality, only one hour had passed.

Lee-joonhyuk focused his mind, while he had his eyes close. He felt an energy wake up within a location inside his chest, and Lee-joonhyuk smiled.

“She spoke the truth.”

In front of Lee-joonhyuk’s eyes, an ivory colored barrier appeared. After Lee-joonhyuk confirmed it was there, he slowly stood up from his seat.

After 10 seconds, the light barrier disappeared.

Rrrrring.

He suddenly heard the phone ring, so Lee-joonhyuk looked at his hand phone. The LCD screen show his mother’s number.

“Hello?”

-Joon-hyuk? Are you ok? Why aren’t you picking up your phone?

Lee-joonhyuk laughed bitterly. Within the hour he had been asleep, she must have called him.

“I’m ok. I fell asleep, so I couldn’t answer it.”

-I called after I saw you on the news. I was so worried when you didn’t pick up the phone. Are you sure you are all right?

“Yes. I’m fine.”

-I guess you didn’t do well in your interview.

“I couldn’t take it, because of the accident.”

-Is that right? Any ways, when you have time, come back home once.

“Yes. Mother. Go to sleep.”

Lee-joonhyuk ended the call, then he looked at the hand phone. There were 48 missed calls. It was all from his mother. Lee-joonhyuk stealthily smiled. When he heard his mother’s voice, the fact that he returned safely finally touched his heart.

“I guess I have no choice, but to lie to her.”

His mother had boasted to her friends that he had made it to ST Capsule’s interview screening. Any ways, he made up a story, so it should be ok.

Lee-joonhyuk slowly looked around his room again. Only one hour had passed in reality, but he had felt the time of one month pass. It really felt like he had returned after a long time.

” It’s been a long time.”

He mumbled in a low voice. First, Lee-joonhyuk went to the bathroom to take a shower. He took off his cloth, and he unwound the bandages. Then he looked at his body reflected in the mirror. He licked his lips.

“I should train like Atlan told me to.”

His stomach was slightly protruding. It was the typical body of a man, who didn’t exercise.

However, Atlan had told him the body should be trained as much as his soul had been trained. If he didn’t, there would be a dissonance between the soul and the physical body. It would damage the body.

It was only for a month, but he had gotten quite close to Vera and Atlan. It was natural for them to grow close in a battle field where death was abound, and this was why he was able to receive this advice.

Lee-joonhyuk looked into his mirror for a moment. Then he turned on the shower nozzle, and he sprayed it over his body. He felt the cool water fall on his body, and Lee-joonhyuk assured himself that he was still alive.

Lee-joonhyuk slowly opened his eyes as the cold water ran down him.

“Come to think of it, I’m all better.”

His broken rib and the wound on his shin had completely healed. When he fell into the Abnormal Sleeping Disorder, his body had returned itself to its most optimal state.

“Should I consider myself fortunate?”

Lee-joonhyuk shook his head. He couldn’t consider this as being fortunate. He had to escape from multiple throes of death in that place. In the end, he had survived, but it wasn’t an easy task.

“They said they’ll call me again?”

He didn’t want to experience the battlefield of death again, but he knew he couldn’t reject it through his own will.

In terms of time in reality, it would be in two weeks. He’ll be summoned again at the same time as before.

“At least, that’s a piece of good news.”

He would have been found out by others as an ASD patient if it wasn’t for dinner time.

Lee-joonhyuk exited his restroom, then he put on a training suit. Since he made his resolve, he should start on it.

Lee-joonhyuk went outside, and he took a deep breath. Air came deeply into his lungs. It was a different sensation from feeling it as a soul.
Lee-joonhyuk smiled as he started to jog lightly. In terms of time in reality, only one hour had passed, but Lee-joonhyuk’s perspective in life had changed.

He exercised all weekend. Then on Monday morning, he ran once around his neighborhood, while drinking in the early morning air. When he was returning to his rented room, there were men guarding the front of the corridor leading to his room.

The two men wore black suits, and when the men saw Lee-jonhyuk, they approached him.

“What brings you here?”

One of the men, who turned his head, fixed his glasses as he spoke.

“Are you Lee-joonhyuk?”

“Yes. I am Lee-joonhyuk.”

The man with the glasses laughed as he took out his business card.

“My name is Kwang-suktae. I’m a proxy from the Korean division of W.A.N.C.S.”

Kwang-sungtae smiled as he spoke.

“If it is possible, may we talk to you inside your home?”

“Please enter.”

Lee-joonhyuk opened the door to his rented room then he entered. It wasn’t a large room, but he always cleaned it. Therefore, he wasn’t averse to guest coming into his room.

Lee-joonhyuk went to fridge, and he opened it. There weren’t any beverages, so he put two cups of water on the table as he spoke.

“Please sit.”

Kwang-sungtae and the other man sat. Lee-joonhyuk took out his wallet, and he took out his ID card.

“You are here for this?”

Lee-joonhyuk also took out his receipt for the hospital and pharmacy bills. When he brought out the receipt, the man next to Kwang-sungtae eyed it then he took it. Kwang-sungtae pushed his glasses up as he spoke.

“From what I hear, you received a wound on your leg. Isn’t it uncomfortable to move?”

“I’ve received 30 stitches, but it doesn’t hinder me from walking. Moreover, one should move more when hurt. ”

“I see.”

“I was going to visit you guys first, but I didn’t expect you to come to me first.”

Kwang-suktae stared at Lee-joonhyuk before he opened his mouth.

“This case has become a big issue.”

Two ASD patients had crashed the bus, and car into each other. Moreover, the vehicles had exploded, so of course, it would become an issue. Moreover, it had spread rapidly on the the SNS.

“This is the only part that the insurance has to take care of.”

“In the future, if you go to the hospital again, just save your receipts. It’ll all be reimbursed, so you don’t have to worry about that part.”

“I understand. Do I call the number on the business card?”

“Yes.”

Lee-joonhyuk considered the conversation to have ended. However, even after they drunk their water, they didn’t show any indications of standing up.

“Do you still have something more to say?”

As if he was waiting for these words, Kwang-sungtae replied.

“This incident caused people to look at Abnormal Sleeping Disorder in a different light. Therefore, we of the W.A.N.C.S. would like to contract Mr. Lee-joonhyuk as the public service announcement model.”

“A public service announcement model?”

“Yes. Since it is a role as the public service announcement model, we won’t be able to pay a lot for your appearance, but we will deposit a modest amount of payment.”

He was tempted at the appearance fee, but Lee-joonhyuk shook his head. He’ll be summoned again in two weeks. He had Awakened to his ability in that place, but his life was in constant danger.

If he became the public service announcement model and he went into a comatose state, then the fear against the Abnormal Sleeping Disorder would grow exponentially.
Moreover, he just wanted to live a normal life.

“I’m sorry.”

Kwang-sungtae tried to persuade him again.

“Your video has been shown on the Friday night news, and it has been uploaded on the SNS. The views are exploding right now. If we shoot a public announcement commercial, then there would be a massive effect.”

Lee-joonhyuk put his determined intention into his answer.

“I’m sorry. I want to live a normal life.”

Lee-joonhyuk didn’t even given the other a chance to speak again. For a moment, Kwang-sungtae waited with his mouth open, but he let out a sigh as he spoke.

“I understand. If you change your mind, you can contact me any time.”

“Please take care.”

Lee-joonhyuk let them out, then he looked a the business card in his hand.

“The appearance fee would have been nice.”

Lee-joonhyuk was staying at home without earning a single cent. He was in a situation where he was receiving spending money, so it was a tempting offer. However, he didn’t want to draw attention to himself.

Lee-joonhyuk threw the business card on the table, then he started to do some sit-ups. Currently, his mind was focused on coming back alive in two weeks, so he didn’t have time to be distracted.

When he was about to pull his upper body up, his hand phone rang.

Rrring.

Lee-joonhyuk grabbed his hand phone, but it was an unknown number. Lee-joonhyuk stopped exercising as he answered the phone.

“This is Lee-joonhyuk.”

-Hello. This is In-sahgwa from ST Capsule’s human resources. Are you Lee-joonkyuk?

“Yes. What can I do for you?”

“Congratulations. I’m calling to inform you that you passed the ST Capsule’s final examination. Please check your detailed schedule on the homepage.

“I passed?”

Lee-joonhyuk stared at his hand phone for a moment.

“Is this some kind of prank?”

The interviewer had criticized him so much, yet he passed?

-You can check it yourself on the homepage. The names of final successful applicants, and the orientation schedule is on there. Please look over it.

-I, I understand.”

-Please have a nice day. This was Lee-nayoung from the human resources.

Before the phone call could end, Lee-joonhyuk had hastily turned on his computer. He had rejected the eye-catching role of public service announcement model, but he had no reasons to reject this job offer.

He’ll be summoned on Friday nights, so it would be a good idea for him to find an occupation.
Lee-joonhyuk glared at his slow computer, and he mumbled.

“This slow shitty ass computer.”

Lee-joonhyuk couldn’t wait for his computer to boot, so he finally connected to the internet through his smart phone. He accessed the ST Capsule’s homepage, then he looked at the page with the names of the people who passed the candidacy.
Then he was able to confirm his name on the list.

“I really passed?”

He went to the interview location just in case. He still expected them to say he had failed, but he had passed.

Lee-joonhyuk turned his head, and he looked at the television.

“Is it because of the news?”

There was a massive difference between having his face show up on the SNS, and on the news. Lee-joonhyuk knew something was up, so he searched for the video of him.

He did a real time search, and his mouth dropped when he saw the number of views on the video.

“20 million views?”

It had been only 3 days, so it was hard to believe the number of views. Lee-joonhyuk held his pounding chest for a moment before he checked the orientation schedule.

“There is a 3 days orientation from Wednesday to Friday.”

Lee-joonhyuk was happier than the moment he had come back alive. He picked up his hand phone to call home. After the signal went through, he heard the voice of his brusque father.

-Is that you, Joonhyuk?

“Yes. Father. This is Joonhyuk.”

-What is it?

“Father. I was able to get into ST Capsule.”

There was a brief silence that passed between the phones.

-Didn’t you say you weren’t able to take the interview?

“To tell you the truth, I went to the interview right after the accident. I thought mother would worry about it, so I didn’t tell her.”

-Is that right? Congratulations.

“I have orientations, so I’ll see you both in the weekends.

-You do that.

The phone call ended, and he could only smile as he thought of his father’s face across the phone. He got up energetically.

“Ok. Since I’ve passed, I should go keep my promise.
