So we Have to Keep Moving Forward

「Guiding the evolution of the other Races……? No, but wait…… So the fact that these are being “retrieved” means that someone was responsible for their creation…… Does that mean that the person in charge is continuously monitoring the way they evolve while observing their progress? 」

That seemed to be the most likely. This was because the other Races shouldn’t have existed in the past. At least, not in the peaceful world in which humanity thrived. However, there were now numerous different races prowling this world, which should not exist.

But despite that, the only thing Kagami could answer was, 「I don’t know」.

「Didn’t I say it before? It’s just a theory. All I know is that there is someone capturing the members of the other races, making them evolve and then releasing them」

「How do you know that they are being captured and then released?」

Krull asked. To which Kagami, who seemed to have been waiting for someone to ask that question, responded by raising his fist.

「Because I have checked. In this world there are also Monsters, isn’t it? In Earth Clear, the Monsters arose from Spawn Blocks after they absorbed a sufficient amount of demon magic power, but…… in this world there is no Spawn Blocks. So, I began to wonder where they came from and why is it that, even though Resistance and the members of the other Races exterminated them day by day…… they never seemed to end. So I went hunting Monsters for a whole month. I spent absolutely all my time exterminating them 」

「Then? What happened?」

「…… Nothing, their numbers never decreased」

Kagami answered Alice’s question with a look that said he wasn’t lying. Then, Takako and Krull, having the same idea, began to look under the cliff with disconsolate looks.

「It was then that I began to ask myself more seriously…… Where do the Monsters and the other Races that now inhabit this world came from?」

「You are not suggesting that …… those things have something to do with it?」

Kagami simply nodded slightly, answering affirmatively to Mary’s question. There was definitely someone behind the creation of the Monsters. Based on the nature of this world, it was also possible that someone was responsible for the creation of beings like Pitta and Oboromaru. However, it was not safe to say that the Races had actually been created by someone else. It was also not safe to say that the beings that were causing a ruckus in front of everyone right now were the ones truly responsible for this. But still, this was still enough for Kagami to decide what to do now.

「Isn’t it funny? No matter how many you defeat, you will only continue to fight with the intention of taking the world back from the hands of an enemy that has been created by someone else. If Mary and Yuki hadn’t seen what was happening in front of them, they wouldn’t have even considered hearing Kagami’s words. However, if all that Kagami was true, then they would have no choice but to listen to him.

After confirming that everyone had come down the cliff, Kagami took Pitta in his arms and motioned for Oboromaru to mount on his head, then he prepared to go down the cliff like the others, but just before he jumped, he was stopped by Mary’s voice.
